it might seem counterintuitive for a producer to detach themselves from one of the planets most thriving music scenes, but in the case of matthew walker, aka julio bashmore, thats exactly what he did growing up in bass music hotbed, bristol. you see, julios first love is house music. and operating just on the peripheries of the citys scene has allowed him to quietly cultivate a take on the genre unlike any other.
following white hot releases for dirtybird, ten thousand yen and soul motive this is bashmores first new material of 2011

persnickety sounds is here to funk-ti-fy your world! in this era of nü-disco, space disco, cosmic disco, disco house and shit, there must be a beacon of quality to light the way and lead the faithful back to a place where good grooves matter and realness is holding court. let the labels fall and just get it movin. re-edited with the dancefloor in mind and your boogie in its sights, ps 1002 is another double portion of sonic goodness with a side of alright! after the >sisters are doin it< first time round its now time for the >brothers stay doin it!< now what say you good people?
fresh beats delivered directly from the caribbean by venezuelan producer trujillo on his latest appearance on the spanish-venezuelan label apersonal music. trujillos ability to make you feel caught up in an eternal summer vibe gets clearer and stronger with every track he releases. on this release main single >fruit punch< is simplicity at its best, squeezing the most out of basic classic-house elements. it builds up slowly until the original guitar tunes in, thats when you take a sip of your fruit punch (or whatever sweet drink comes handy) and enjoy the sea breeze in your face (whether its there or not..). for the extra flavor on your drink they pour an edit-format track >looking up through you<. lots of original ingredients here enough to make this edit an own piece of music... venezuelan keyboard player mister casanova on board plus trujillo mixing it all up in his best poolside bar style. fresh juicy punched stuff here! on the remix department 2 remix versions from uk based producer toby tobias plus a classy fashioned remix from canadian eddie c. tobias is a hard working man, and when you ask him for one he hits you twice, hard to pick one remix although one had to be selected for digital only release (size matters some time!). what can we say about eddie c.. apersonal had already made a statement that they love classic grooves, and it cant get classier than eddies beats on his remix! this groove is what house music is all about, and it will always be.
2010 has been a massive year for jozif, emerging as one of the most talked about artists in house music. the follow-on from the first sell-out edition, “beats in space”, “brick jane” goes further to cement his place as one of the vanguard of the london music scene, and propel fist or finger to the status of a buy-on-sight label. jozif’s title track – the dancefloor focused ‘fist’ of the package – goes in deep, the momentum continuously building as the track twists and turns through a landscape of deep slabs of bass assured deployment of subtle guitar plucks and piano chords, and dreamy xylophones. finally releasing into an epic crescendo, jozif only allows the moment to last just long enough, before all the elements are stripped right back as the journey starts all over again. brick jane draws out a journey, continuing to morph and subtly affix new elements throughout its 7 minutes. the arrangement is simple yet the progression is deft, subtle and effective, creating a vibe that can be employed at any given time of the night, offering a truly different context. craig’s ‘finger’ re-interpretation picks up the thread where his “beats in space” remix left off. crackling static laced with woozy atmospheres and paranoid utterings flip the vibe of the original completely on its head. richards displays a completely unique ability to stretch the original track far beyond its character into a completely different dimension, building a warped soundscape that feels as though it was recorded in a chasm deep deep underground. a mind-bending journey from a truly multi talented artist, in the truest sense of the word

repress !! blackest ever black is a new london-based label that seeks to re-establish electronic music as a poetic, provocative and emotionally inquisitive force. music by artists, not engineers. its first release is a self-titled ep by raime, a british duo who draw explicit inspiration from the marginal mavericks of early european goth, industrial and synth wave - artists largely omitted from the current master narrative of post-punk history, and who strove to make music at once cerebral and visceral, futuristic and atavistic. well-versed in the language of club music, but rejecting its typically rigid sequencing and arrangements, raime use technology pensively - to convey a sense of crisis, collapse and longing. transporting and disorienting though their work might be, its narratively taut and has no truck whatsoever with the cosmic, its too aggressive and engaged to be called psychedelic.
pale sketcher (aka justin broadrick of jesu/godflesh fame) follows up his ghostly debut >jesu: pale sketches demixed< release with the ep, >seventh heaven<. broadrick covers a large palette of styles, discovering moods and rhythms that further expand the pale sketcher sound. it further solidifies his taste for electronic material that bled into his jesu project and solidifying pale sketcher as yet another legitimate project for this prolific artist. >seventh heaven< includes 4 brand new tracks that highlights a variety of influences from drum n bass and shoegaze to trip hop and dub. the lone remix is a dub meets trip hop sound reminiscent of trickys >maxinquaye< period from the legendary king midas sound. pale sketcher is clearly figuring out his next big step with the >seventh heaven< ep.
limited to 250 copies on swirl vinyl in a clear sleeve.
waxs juan hoerni taking us on a trip with this lush ode to africa. >afrique< is turning heads in the deep/soulful community, earning plenty of plays and support from overseas as well. might have to do with spinnas typically sublime musical remix. great stuff from the up-and-coming la imprint chacha.
ulysses dj career began in 1991, when he started his universitys first techno radio show. shortly after graduating he returned to his hometown and became a player in the late-90s electro scene in new york, running some of the earliest large-scale electro parties in new york. guests included legends such as alexander robotnick and arthur baker, as well as recent stars like i.f., miss kitten and the hacker and adult. ulysses is not only about party promotion, however, and a close look at his diverse musical career will quickly shatter this misconception. although a long-time advocate of obscure disco and classic techno, ulysses is currently best known for the piano house anthem robotic hypnotic adventure from his neurotic drum band collaboration with john selway. in addition to the ndb ulysses collaborates with thugfuckers holmar filipsson as filipsson & ulysses, who are releasing soon-to-be classic eps of emotive electronic disco on internasjonal and bearfunk records. ulysses still continues to chart his own musical path with an incredible ep of dark pop for internasjonal spesial in the works, as well as some new club-friendly dance tracks on wurst and his solo debut for throne of blood. the acid reflux ep represents the diversity of ulyssess talent, from banging acid tracks to moody downtempo and grooving electronic house. to round things out ulysses recruited prins thomas to deliver an unprecedented nine-minute rerub of >acid reflux< that preserves the originals 303 groove but injects a heaping dose of cosmic atmosphere and live instrumentation into the mix. essential
the boys who helped mold the face of jazz house on >adventures in the light< in 1998 are back again with their counterpart kevin yost. what they have developed is a serious latin jazz infusion. a mixture of percussive beats and spiritual keyboard lines combine to make >some place chill< the newest in groundbreaking releases for i! label.

iberian records comes out of a hibernation period with the a series of >tax haven< eps. this first ep comes from a group of producers located in the barcelona bass enclave and who have been some of the main players in the monthly b.low events there. dedicated to what the label describes as bass n groove, this ep contains three varied and original sounding tunes with different bpms suited to the leftfield of various bass music fields (dubstep/funky/future garage etc).
nice price deal !!! on this first release matt follows on from his bingo, jerona fruits and shadybrain releases with his latest offering >threatz<, featuring cuts from jehst and diversion tactics dj jazz t. caned by bailey on his 1xtra show, this is hard hitting drum and bass at its best, full of aggressive funk, tough beats and old skool 97 flavour. on the aa is >embryonic<, a rolling slice of tech drum and bass with an infectious groove that keeps proceedings dark but full of funk, making this a solid release that bodes well for a label concerned with quality not quantity.

after the big succes of hi tech booty, we searched for some really special guys out there to put hand on ahmets bomb. well here it is. a1 comes from maetrik which was a strong desire of ahmet and for sure an excellent choice. he totally brings in his own style while getting a little bit closer to the darkside of the track. a2 is a special collab between rainer, which we know from the last regular stock5 record together with cesare vs disorder and viudez, a mexican guy that seems to have a very nice influence to the production style. the vocal is very present but placed, arranged and transformed geniously. for sure a weapon! b1 is written by our special friend chris sylvester aka inxec. starting with a very housy groove, it falls quickly into a hypnotic mood that is unique in inxec productions. he really knows what the dancefloor requires and for this we are very happy to have him again in our release roster. b2 presents a very new and fresh artist called rico casazza. he interprets the track in a very detroit way, works verz little with the vocal but hits it very perfectly for the sense of the track. after this debut on our imprint you can be sure to hear more of this young guy in the next time!!!

for more than 5 years cargo edition has been standing for the deeper house productions of moon harbour/cargo edition’s roster of artists. so far acts like ekkohaus, michael melchner and markus schatz have been setting the tone. now this platform is offered to artists who haven’t yet appeared on the label. the warehouse release is the first of a series of various artists eps. we invited artists like steven cock from dresden, ralph sliwinski as well as the italian acts mass prod & marco daquino and minimono to contribute tracks to warehouse vol.1. the sound of the first ep is all about consistent house music that does not need any cheap rave tricks. old school house music is quoted with skills and style and translated to the modern dance floor. warehouse vol.1 is the perfect start into the fifth year of cargo edition. luciano (cadenza): cargo edition is a great label, probably one of the most quality dance music.. full support!
a1 fur elodie is a cheapy guitar tune combined with the piano to form acoustic sound. other elements are also quite cheapy but sounds very good altogether as a confortable track. a very atmospheric tune to hypnotize people into fumiyas deeper side. the original version is on his album unknown 3 released in 2008. b1 ring bell is a track combined an acoustic loopy drum with a modular bass sound to form a kind of rare groove. a kind of chant starts coming in out at certain points to take you somewhere you have never been before. b2 dealer trick (short version) has got a kind of old school flavour and sounds quite like 90s house with fumiyas dirty, cheeky, and loopy groove. a trick for jack in the box

danish producer martinez rarely fails to surprise club music lovers with his versatile views on techno and house. his very special enthusiasm enables him to seize new musical territory with every release. with his debut record on cadenza, his house sound develops another depth, a more general view of the ever evolving tension between life and music. the mzuzu ep is all about bass. the bass is all around, the bass gushes into every corner of the club, it pervades concrete and iron. while the low frequencies deal ruthlessly with architecture, they are kind to us humans. the basslines put the dancers in a conforting state of hypnosis which might be an unconscious reminder of the long gone time when one still rested in ones mothers womb. it arouses the memory of a state when one is completely merged with the surroundings. martinez reorganises the structure of house music: the lashing grooves cease to be the center of the tracks. martinez moves the heartbeat of the music from the beats to the bass. its firmness releases the other elements of the tracks, creating a free-spirited feeling. freed from their regular task the grooves are enabled to be rough and open. instead of trying to control the crowd, they ravish us with their liberating energy. the tracks rarely need anything else. the icing on the cake consists in tiny vocal samples. creating an irritating athmosphere, they put us in a state of constant curiosity. disolving completely into the flow of the tracks, the human voices become pure sound. >mzuzu chant< & >adagio< are for the beautiful moments when the dancing crowd detaches itself from time and space
cult swedish producer and multi-instrumentalist tiger stripes arrives on audiomatique with this incredible new three track ep. a monstrous lesson in modern minimalism, ah-64 pumps with a dark yet funky inner power thats felt even stronger after the sinister string laden break. slow building and totally infectious this trippy late-nighter is built for the big rooms and will have you reaching for the lasers in no time. on a slightly lighter tip, how we feel warms us with funky, energetic percussion in a modern and positive tech-house jam. with smooth future house keys and plenty of details its a straight forward floor burner. back to detroit city takes us right there, deep, dubbed and melodic this retrospective workout features delicate melodies laden above yet more warm, powerful and driving beats. continuing, elongating and drifting, its a perfect conclusion to the ep.
