following on from last years dachshund skank ep by klic & article.01, we have asked some of our favourite producers of the moment to add their own slant to the originals which previously found their way into the dj sets of martyn and addison groove and gained support from bbc6 music. greymatter continues with his new love for chicago-styled synth and drum machine work-outs with his jacking take on forwards, while pixelord and the hotly tipped gerry read take the track mustard tiger in two very different directions on the flip. the digital release sees the talented new boy blacksmif and hit and hope regular naive machine add their respective twists to round off the release.

this time its a full ep from chocky, which features a remix from brooklyns krts. the dscntd releases resist the modern addiction to genre pigeon-holing, instead they focus on pushing a variety of interesting and emotive sounds. this five track ep captures the rich and varied musical inspirations of the mysterious man simply know as chocky. first up is >down with idris<, a beautifully, blissed-out slice of electronica. krts supplies a dusty, broken remix with a deep, creeping progression, these two versions really compliment each other. on the flip you will find the jazzy >can i mither you<, suspenseful but really groovy house music. finishing the whole thing off is the deep as you like >frizzy fuzz<, lovely drums and synths, pure atmosphere. and keep an ear out for chockys interlude/dj tool >ripp off<, it pays homage to his love of sampling...

a debut release for both band and label, parisian duo paradis bring two eloquently produced tracks to beats in space in the form of the >parfait tirage / la ballade de jim< 12 inch (bis001). admirers from afar of dj tim sweeneys weekly on air institution of 12 years (from which the label takes its name), paradis submitted demos hoping they might hack it for some play time. reared on classical and jazz, turned young hip hop rebels, turned teen club crawlers, and then university machine tinkerers, simon meny & pierre rousseau grew out of genre jumping while young enough to stay ahead and settle into music making centered around melody and emotion.

the first release on sighas own our circula sound imprint sees the hotflush artist shrug off the dubstep tag altogether with a 12 inch of dark dubbed out techno. marcel dettmanns remix of sighas own >early morning lights< sits on the a side. taking things deeper than one would typically expect, dettmann marries his own sound palette with that of the original perfectly. clocking in around the 130bpm mark, its mutating broken rhythms and throbbing bottom end will appeal to more adventurous dubstep heads as well as the techno purists. sighas eyes down old school tinged >over the edge< sits on the b side. clicks, claps and 909 hats roll over a layer of shifting dubbed out soundscapes and booming square bass.

marcel fengler launches his own label – imf (index marcel fengler) with a rich, experimental and varied 3 track ep. through his numerous releases for ostgut ton and mote- evolver, or remixes for artists like skudge or perc, fengler has built his own distinct modern techno sound. introducing the ep , setting the tone and announcing its intentions, >knavish< is a thick, textural and spacious piece of sound design that careers across the audio spectrum with stunning fluidity. like a seductive opening chapter, it draws us in, yet leaves much for our burning curiosity to discover. moving on further off-centre, the churning ten minute adventure of >hidden empire< begins its rumbling ascent in the paranoid depths of fenglers more subversive electronic language. fusing the attitude of punk with the metallic ring of industry, its lively synth play and heavy forward stomp make this a challenging and indeed rewarding find. featured on his new >berghain 05< mix, >sphinx< takes a straighter path into the kind of sensory techno that marcel is well known for presenting on the berghain floor. funky, playfully aggressive, heavily defined and certainly cosmic, a concerto of outer-space tones, static and filtered waves join the racing percussion in tense unison

infecta is the record label from delta bookings in spain. the bookingsagency is looking after the famous spanish artists: dj pepo (inspired recs)joton (newrhythmic), cesar almena (code, fabrik), dj link (amigos recs), inaki villasante (disclosure), event 7 (infecta recs), jose pouj (injected, warm up) and dj lizana (inspired, naked lunch). because off all these artists and connections its no wonder labelowner uge can choose from many tracks for his imprint. for the 5th release he got hold of the finest techno stompers from: ben sims, event 7, dj pepo and de oliveira!

edit king leo zero returns with something very special to kick off a new run of no frills dancefloor bombs that have been tried and tested over the summer on a packed worldwide dj schedule from stockholm to tokyo and beyond. first up is an intensive slice and dice exercise on probably the best track from definitely the best band in the world: the clash. leo takes their most disco friendly outing >the maginificent dance< famously spun by mr levan at the garage - and with the more dubby rare levan version he homes in on looped 1 bar sections, skating along to create a new arrangement - added to the brew are bootleg recordings form the clashes infamous live show at nycs bonds ballroom, and even some baseline demos digitally siphoned from people practicing guitar along to the clash on youtube!….. we are left with is an epic labour of love edit that has already found its way into the a-listers record boxes - from derrick carter to laurent garnier who are all spinning this solid as a rock dub disco bomb. on the flip we have a classy house re-work of al hudson & partners >music< which sticks a chi-town kick and snare up its rear end along with some serious sub bass, and in the middle things get all wobbly with some trademark leo zero space echo rides and before we are quickly warped back-in and onto the floor… big with a load of top jocks too including severino of horse meat disco fame.

over the last nine years, the resopal crew has written another chapter of the german tech house book. with releases by d. diggler, robag wruhme or by shooting stars like paul ritch and johannes heil, resopal has celebrated some of the biggest records from 2001 to 2011. in this spirit... we feel the bassline by talented berlin young producer michael knop. his body of work, weak chin ep needs no introduction. he applies his excellence with searing modern techno beats tweaked with a barrage of sound effects and topped off with a subtle futuristic rave complexity. three tracks on vinyl that are nothing less than groundbreaking.

after a short production break, the russian techno duo easy changes (denis cast & kilrill silas) are back with a 12 inch on the berlin/london based label, mean records, run by cesare marchese (cesare vs disorder) & federico benedetti (onirik). the lion is also a good drummer fits in nicely with the labels love of minimal techno productions that feature original sounds, moody melodies and deep aural landscapes. easy changes gained recognition in 2007 with two back to back hit releases on foundsound records. in 2009, they were the first ep from nervmusic, a moscow based label that focuses on unconventional techno started by cast, silas and friends. seated comfortably between the avant-garde and the dancefloor, the release has something for everyone. the title track, the lion is also a good drummer is an epic, crawling minimal techno production filled with stripped down percussion and abstract found sounds perfect for after-hours. on the flipside is the uptempo, quirky and tribal burlesque, replete with spliced vocal samples, snares, cymbals, bleeps and claps. for the burlesque remix, french producer doubtingthomas shows off his lifelong obsession with percussion and its rhythmic allure with the addition of a trippy drum solo midway through the track.

sk supreme presents another hot act of the moment ? nice7. after releases on great stuff recordings, monique musique or noir music we introduce ?longboard? together with hot remixes from namito (greenhorn, kling klong, blufin) and the promising martin dawson (off recordings, crosstownrebels, session deluxe).

there are a number of producers who are known for being prolific, roska, cooly g, benga to name a few, and now gerry read can be added to that list. the cambridgeshire producer has only a handful of actual releases to his name, but a vault of hundreds. we can well imagine his hardrive straining from the sheer velocity of ideas that he sends our way. raw, urgent and frequently off kilter, gerrys production challenges your ears but always manages to lock in the groove.

the mysterious robotalco serves up four deep house cuts for nycs on the prowl. robos road kicks things off with the right amount of hissing strings and slow drifting vibes that win its a1 spot. next up we have it gets to me, which strips things back a bit with pulsing synths, sparse congas, and perfectly placed vocal snippets. on the b-side we get moon robot, it keeps things rolling with its stompy feel and more of whats becoming robotalcos signiture swirling synth pad sound. rounding up the release for b2 is zuk zuk, with its quirky low slung groove that develops into a latin percussive gem...its really a superb way to round off robotalcos otp debut. well done.

der dritte raum is a super project at constant altitude flight. releasing music on labels such as harthouse and cocoon since the early ninetees der dritte raum has established a name for high quality electronic music and a live show you will never forget. with their Überhit >swing bop< 3 years ago der dritte raum has kicked off a still going roaring-20s-hype in the electronic music scene in berlin and anywhere else. now here we go with the remixes of this epic piece. the question was: who could remix this unique track withut making it just a worse copy of the original? the answer: t.raumschmiere might turn this track into a dirty wrecking rave monster and as a complementary addition, acid pauli might be a good choice to take the track in a totally different direction. well, t.raumschmiere did what we expected, just in an even better way than we hoped, and acid pauli did as well. he gave swing bop an outfit that makes it sound even more dreamy and out of time and space. enjoy!

and once gain we are back. after a welcome pause dumb unit returns with an energetic four tracker from our man in nyc : elon. a long time label mate elon strips it all back to create a bumping and infectious groove that while resolutely dumb unit is uncharacteristic in its nakedness! no decor here, only pure syncopated and pushing rhythms to notch it up a tad. perfect for leading the lions back to the warehouse and off the beach into the cooler months. >put those shades away son we going inside<. the energetic pacers of elon are complemented by a deeper excursion, a superb exercise one remix that takes the original and works it into a pulsing main floor late night jam.

there are few artists making great music full stop and keeping it tight and delivering quality each time they release music. kaiserdisco are definitely made in germany and a duo that therefore has the respect of the whole dance scene. kaiserdisco manage to pull off that contradictory trick, producing modern cutting edge tracks with a nevertheless timeless and classic feel.
>kuala< the a-side track is an ethno natured track with lively bassline and uplifting small melody stabs, smithereens of vocals and a superb drive. beneath all of this you find the kaiserdisco fx department works with every possible production skill to keep the seemingly never ending loop active and rocking. >kuala< is a firework of a rhythm monster!

its been two years since pawas gupta contributed an enchanting remix on sirions first vinyl release. constant communication and cooperation lead to this all in all accomplished project called >huis huis ep<. pawas productions start off smooth and impress with delightful elements and perpetual dynamic. the development of each track is rarely predictable. tempting the act of prolonged anticipation is a delicate one and leads further and further into remote realms. carried into the sec repetitive parts by finely tuned synth-boosts makes us realize the force briefly before being caught up in the hypnotic sounds again. propelling deep house with a pinch of funk and a touch of detroit - the classic yet brilliant pawas style! moon harbours chris lattner needs no long introductions. releases on nrk, einmaleins, fear of flying and luna records speak for themselves, are proof of a successful and active time. the dry yet truly ideal base frame for subtle but succinct modules for this remix is its effective substance. the static sub bass, fulminate and with an enormous thrust, is reminiscent of the miami bass age - virtuous modulations, the very complexion of mr lattner. he remains true to himself, we like!

vault series is a cheeky little series where rush hour drops never before released tracks and mixes from its vaults as well as tracks which are in dire need of a re-release.
the series kicks off with an unreleased track by the mysterious duster valentine. an anthemic disco track that, with its catchy piano loop, pays homage to the golden days of new york house music. music that will make you sweat!
on the other side we find aardvarcks fun-loving-freestyle-disco-mash-up-party-jam. its original release a few years ago saw support by many djs around the world. it was only released as a limited once sided promo. here is a chance for those who missed it to own a copy. this version is remastered and extended!

coming off the heels of the kitano ep, we decided to keep things right in the bustling metropolis of deepness known as melbourne, australia for our next undertones release. after successful outings on both 3rd strike and dirt crew, it just made perfect sense for us to join musical forces with the tortoise. tortoise laces us with two vocally charged joints that set the tone just right. we couldn t think of a better way to put our spin on this release than to feature the extremely talented duo known as genius of time on not one but two remixes .. one for each track! it s definitely a first for us and we couldn t be anymore pleased with how everything shook out.

killekills next release comes from snuff crew, a crew you might and should have heard about. snuff crews mission is to bring back the fun on the dancefloors worldwide. the masked duo is known for their jacking live shows that combine the raw energy of early chicago and acid house with a fresh and modern sound. rumour has it that they come from >somewhere in germany<, but their sounds draw a very heavy influence from the original acid house city of chicago alongside italo-disco and old school techno flavours. the use of old school roland boxes as sound sources and almost non existent use of even basic effects means their sound is rough, raw and aimed squarely at the dancefloor. their records have been released on labels like skylax, gigolo records, rush hour, playhouse and many more, but the two guys also run their own imprint called snuff trax where they release music of jackmates like kink and neville watson as well as their own tracks and collaborations with artists such as legendary robert owens. thats enough for now with the name dropping. killekill has got a lot of great exclusive material from the guys but decided to release only two very strong and distinctive tracks for now: domo on the one side is a proper acid monster that will go down on dancefloors worldwide like a hurricane and leave the dancers breathless. eat this on the other side is a rudimentary chicago jack track that might well have been taken off a dance mania record from 1992. this track is working its way with nothing but a few drum tracks and a vocal sample and is pure raw sexual energy.

moving through the worm hole, a track materializes at each stop offering emotive tunes that pull at your senses. alexander shows off his skills as you travel into four different universes encompassed within four house yet techno musical adventures. white rhino (deep down beat down) - begins the journey with an up tempo banger in which the bass syncopates ever so nicely. a message about the white rhino insues quickly and more synths come to take you on a space age trip. transcend - smooth synth line with a deep kick, leads us to gritty yet soft pads that build and build as vision of stars are created by waveforms. deep within - bassline and melodies blare out as the beat pulsates, and out of no where a voice comes up from deep within the darkness. the abyss - ending the journey is a super deep tunes that relaxes your mind, as you go deeper and deeper with the bassline, chords, and vocals…

panther veil is the debut release on dublin based apartment records. over the 3 tracks london producer ncw explores various avenues of house music in a stripped back, unique fashion. opening with the slowburning, detroit-tinged swing of veil, the flip serves up the bent out of shape jack of my braindead acid, while panthers relentless late night groove rounds things off in a blurry haze

hailing from the usa, boston ma, kon has been djing internationally alongside some of the worlds best djs as well as releasing several comps/edits on londons bbe label (kings of series/ off track vols 1-3 along with his vinyl collecting friend amir ) you may have heard his 1/2 hour multi-track remix mix for gilles peterson world wide show on bbc radio 1 a few months back … well here kon makes his debut dance release on the hands of time gold imprint. handling the production and arrangement, kon gives us the original version as well as a dub, pairing of samples and original music he utilizes a very clever 1 bar vocal sample from multi track stems as well as live session players (his gang) to get his vision across. with its punchy drums & warm, feel good vibes ... its a perfect affair for winding down this summer.

skylevel whut up, lets take off for number three. the a - side sees sq101 providing pure, undiluted ecstasy for every prime time disco house floor. yes, its that good and skylevel pilots cant wait to launch their planes and drop this beauty in your area. b1 is skylevel – homemade and you already know the talk so lets come together and walk the walk. damn. sampling skills of the highest order show us how to reduce things to the max. never too much nor too little. hot blooded soul meets hippie feelings and theres magic in the air. on b2, fried tofus anson steps in and stokes your favorite dj with his no-strings-attached way of transforming a goodie into a real gem. this one unlocks hearts while nailing funk–aficionados to the floor. priceless

with private golds newest offering the inimitable cologne producer martin beume has really taken a huge and achingly beautiful step in his songwriting and production. some might know him from releases with connaiseur or brut! records, but this record is miles higher… wisps of detail adorn each song like edible gold flake on a luscious chocolate ganache cake. synths flutter and glide like summer butterflies and even the percussion is precious and clean. this is not to say it is only good for home listening. lead off track solid rubber has a tough and sexy deep house sway with echoes of brazilian bossa nova laid over its more traditionalist chicago house and jazz. lsdeep, has the full dirt stomp necessary for a forbidden tryst, but sneaks in smart samples and emotional filter washes to add unexpected depth. at 105bpm, you might not expect wip catch to fucking groooooove the way it does, but trust me kids, things are getting slower as we are getting older. and it feels great. soaring orchestral strings married with perfectly cut vocal samples are sure to get the more adventurous djs hypnotizing dancefloors like musical svengalis. and when you thought it was all over, axel boman turns in an amazing remix in his instantly recognizable non-traditional style. this dude is a lothario. all hip shake and cooing come-ons, its a reduced house gem that slinks its way into your pants.

troy pierce, marc houle & magda team up to present their first ever trio release on items & things, >down & out vol 1< - which takes its name from their newly created party series - events that are based around the dark & intimate, off the radar, and under the ground. troy pierce starts things off with >majikal<, introducing the eps dark magic with a climbing bassline, scattering, almost anxious percussion and buoyant sound effects panned throughout. ominous atmospheres and weighted textures produce a cinematic accompaniment to surveyors of uncharted terrain. building a continual tension-and-release cycle, the track is a lucid whirlwind of sonic imagery and trickery, balancing visceral sounds with the otherworldly. magda teams up with suade, a producer & friend from newcastle that we are sure to see more of, together they bring forth a true builder, a creeper, the type of track that reveals itself more with each layering sequence. a masterclass in dynamics, >fixation< is a dark groove thats haunted by a chilling vocal, wavering synth vibrato, unexpected melodies, and juxtaposes of funk. angular drums hit alongside swells of percussive echoes but, the focus of the track revolves around the bassline’s movement. as catchy as it is esoteric. marc houles >slowpe< ends the ep with a slightly slower pace, but in a disconcerting way: taking it down a few notches this one that transports the listener to the strangest dimension yet. filtered melodies start the tracks ascent, sounding like a trumpet thats been bent out of shape and played from the void. with dark textures compactly knit into a condensed wall of sound, a low-slung bassline trades places with eerie chords and sparse percussion

b-tracks, aka soren jahan & john barera release their debut ep on their new imprint. the two musicians and record collectors worked together to make >specialize<, a rolling house cut made for the dancefoor & road tested at their gigs. with >day to night<, they go deep with a warm and melodic tune that still makes you get up. their rough and ready production style continues to shine in house workout >jump on it<.
on the flip, >progress< is a relentless techno cut with a raw analog sound and a mind of its own. finishing off the record is >your love<, a climactic and synth driven track in the spirit of early electronic dance music.

so we went predominanlty stateside for our last outing, and decided to bring things back home this time. hoya003 is a strictly uk affair. opening up on the a-side is one of rudest producers and djs the uk has going for it. this aint a comment on her manners though, they are as impeccable as her production. after ikonika sent us a zip of some hoya potentials, we just knew >fleas< had to be the one featured on this 12 inch. a more sinister, rolling, emotional jam, it still packs as much as punch as ikonikas dj sets. kicking off the b-side is the homie om unit. now, this guy … this guy. are there any superlatives left to desribe his sonic masterpieces that have rocked too many dancefloors and had as many producers scratching their heads and re-assessing their mix-downs? an instant favourite, >fibonnaci 10< was one of the earliest cuts lined up for a release and when you listen you will see why. this guy. seriously. bringing things to a close, we hand over to one of our favourites from the flourishing cardiff scene. why doesnt monky have more music out? is one of those questions that has been asked too many times for our liking. so much so, we may have to take it upon ourselves to change that. but, for now, just enjoy >hipster<. a killer synth-laden nod to early ukg, but looking forward as opposed to sideways. enjoy.

following a world-wide rollercoaster of almost 3 years continuously on the road touring, gui boratto found himself back in his sao paolo studio in early 2011. the results are here with >iii< – arguably his greatest musical accomplishment to date. kicking off with the slo drive >galuchat< the sitar-ish instrumental embedded in the track sets a foundation of melancholic organic groove found throughout >iii<.

music always played a significant role in the life of javier viudez and rainer serrat and the quest for the music made them leave their hometowns mallorca and barcelona and move to london where they met each other and started sharing a studio in 2004. constant flow of releases on labels like serialism, safari electronique, vinyl club and serious club gigs followed. here javier and rainer kick off a new chapter and team up for 4 tracks, tales of lost memories and other-worldiness of early morning hours, that were some of the best kept secrets of loco dice sets this summer. the repetitive title track “scusas” with its hypnotic, scale wandering staccato bassline, >rainer nostalgia< with its uplifting vocal shouts, the timberlake infected, driving >nuevo cedar< or any other piece of this collection, these boys seem to have a golden hand for stripped down grooves

its been a long wait but finally 501 returns with yet another bigtime 12inch that will roll out punches even more than mike tyson! fresh off his release from never say die sees 501 twisting it differently this time.. >gist< is a vocal infused stomper that opens the 12inch perfectly and sees 501 leaning into a swagger tip. it flows, it rocks, it jumps its everything in 1. it shows a different side to the standard 501 sound and shows he can bend any way he would like to. you can hear that in the b side >borderline< where he exchanges the sweet vocals of gist for a psychotic quote and the swagger lean for some ear shattering kicks & snares. hear borderline destroy your eardrums like the good old days with some sub! nothing beats the old fashioned heavyweight sound! another essential 501 record!

continuing from where the recent album left off - anyone following skudges output will know they are not mere >one-trick ponies< . the story continues to unfold on this incredibly strong 3 tracker from the moodiest sounding machines in stockholm...

after the darkness of rabid dogs ep black sunday recordings now brings you a new summer-ish release by rotterdam based producer the eerier child. heavenly creatures ep starts off with the soothing downtempo track rec, exploring the depths of your subwoofer with a kick-ass kickdrum. the melancholic sounds of into the sun (vip mix) are familiar to those who have been listening to the cd album >frequencies of the mind<. this album was released in may 2009 featuring various artists. now the track has been re-mixed and re-mastered especially for this 12inch release. thunderball will lure you into deeper realms with a triggering wobble that will boil up your engine. the fourth track deep red is drenched in gloominess, with laidback grooves and smooth synth lines. with day the adventure slowly becomes dim as you enjoy the sun setting down, entering the beginning of a new dark night

noidoi are back on track! the romanian invaders team up with their second ep on our beloved sublabel love letters from oslo. after their last ep dupa joi on oslo, which was released just a short while ago, the masters of puristic funk are back again. inainte inapoi iar starts with a randomized and funky off-beat snare drum, which morphs into a deep and massive bass break anthem. then, the simple but classy melody pads lead into a typical romanian house groover, which is distinguished by his complex drum patterns and edgy percussion. the second track peloc, made of a playful oldschool melody, reminds on the good old times back in the days. a solid tool for unique moments, which can be big, if used in the right order!
