there are few operators out there with the understated skills to match colin macbean. the man known best as mr g is a master of the stripped down, simple groove and he s been invited to holic trax to demonstrate that with two productions of the most immaculate house music. -soba shioyaki- hovers with a touch of mystery in its melodic hooks - a punchy monosynth basslines and sweetly shifting chords striking a melancholic note perfect for heads-down moments. -komorembi- is more overtly deep, using an urgent shuffle beat to propel spacious chords through the atmosphere in that inimitable mr g style.

mr. g extends his ever growing discography with another full length album. “a good place..?” comes as a 2x12” package which includes 10 tracks which range from signature mr. g style drum track cuts with the usual vocal cuts to somewhat more “dubbed out” bits and funky disco tainted dance floor bits. “a good place..?” proves to be the perfect follow up to last year’s “night on the town?” with mr. g showcasing his versatile skill set whilst thoroughly molding the tracklist into the feel of an album.

bass culture reach that magnificent milestone of 50 releases with an extra special ep from someone who has become part of labels inner circle, the infallible mr g. set up in 2009 by paris stalwart djulz, bass culture records has maintained a consistently high level of music, crossing from techno into house and back again, always with a focus on quality over quantity. mr g delivers two special gems from his arsenal of weaponary to mark the 50th bsss culture release. the first, * transient* sees mr g in contemplative mood, taking a studied approach with this deep, soulful cut. softened pads are drizzled over a punchy low end, with tough, crisp beats supporting a stirring vocal which urges everybody to get up on their feet. the nineties organ lick gives it an almost sorrowful feel, and those pads continue to takes us up to the skies. a beauty. on the flip, * crumple zone* goes straight for the jugular with a driving b-line, alarming stabs and finger-clicking percussion to get that head nodding. combined with garbled, hypnotic vocal clips, its a mesmerising, eyes down cut for the late night heads. towards the latter part of the track, a naughty riff comes in and adds another layer of sleaze to proceedings. and there you have it, mr g proves yet again why he is such a all-round don and bass culture celebrates 50 releases with panache.

phoenix g s latest output is another mr.g effort with great versatility. showcasing the original g sound throughout the whole ep, the g man comes up with funky bassline samples, analog string action and the signature vocal cuts that have elevated most of his records in some way. pg055s comes in a special full colour sleeve with an iconic picture of the g himself. licensed from and thanks to rekids.

who would have ever thought? the g man found himself a protege. after the odd 50+ solo releases offered through his phoenix g imprint mr.g has found himself a young producer that has a style that connects with the phoenix g output thus far. with g opening his bag of tricks to him, this cant go wrong. mysterious jayson wynters offers a 4 track record that is hazy, technoid and threads into deep territories every now and then.

it should be no surprise to anyone that >e.c.ged< is a brilliant piece of stripped down, rolling detroit-influenced deep techno.acid undertones supply the backbone to this brooding groove, followed closely by layers of sharp percussion and instantly recognisable live analogue effects. coupled with the huge disco horn section make this subtle but dark beast in to somewhat of an epic!it would only be right for matt to get in on the action and his remix under his rekid alias is an exceptional alternative to what is already a class a-side producing a hypnotic floor-filler

this release is gifted by a special remix from someone who need no introductions today : chris carrier aka mr georget delivers a dope remix of one of the track that franck already released on home invasion called yabba.. the idea was to give to our favourite remixers (cause we got some good guys coming up aswell) the freedom to choose one of the tracks that they really like from the label.mr georget gave us a deep and hypnotic feeling on this one and we already love it it here, that s why we choosed to press it has a 45 rpm full side to give him the best sound and dynamics. on the other side franck give us 809, a track wich is the result of the sync between the 909 and the 808 together when it comes to speak about drum and some synths delighted by his own secret. bugz is a simple ruff track coming out from the mpc wich we can ear from the drums, and some stabs samples coming thru his vermona filter and passing by some external effects.. in and out its all about the jam here j we hope you will enjoy this new ep has the summer starts soon guys...

adult only shape is back with an intriguing collaboration, between the mysterious frenchie monsieur georget and young parisian talent le loup. a combination of the old skool with the new skool, the sounds are just that. each take a pounding bass and a solid minimal-tech stance and layer their character on top. a1 is scattered with futuristic bleeps and computerised murmurs, interspersed with reminiscing vocals, while a2 is the most raw in nature, with a tough techno feel until the smooth overtones set in and a feeling of euphoria takes over. but some may say b1 is say arguably the standout track, for its intoxicating vocal and irresistible underlying swing and groove.

of course the acid rebirth is the masterpiece here, in a sense. a bloody good reprise, totally replayed with hardware of the rebirth from jones and stenfenson on bonzai. finishing on a big frustration: still some work for the dj! but also with the interstellar delivery, mr gasmask brings a superb techno trance tune. at least afx fans will enjoy the last tune, the arboria tribute:a superb acid broken stuff, in the pure oldschool tradition of this owesome style. 200 copy limited!
