no tag no food� is the third 12-inch from philadelphia-based artist m//r (magnetic resonance) and his first on details sound. after releasing 2014�s well-received �gathering response data ep� on great circles imprint and a single on ron morelli�s l.i.e.s., m//r is back with a strong bundle of four tracks, steadily making his mark on the scene of contemporary techno. this record is a proper electronic weapon, from the slowed down pounding impulse of total burner �no tag no food� to the suspended rhythm of atmospheric idyll which brings the listener into a gravity-free dimension.

this other space makes his viny debut on tasteful nudes with * the tom ep*. the veteran musician from sweden launches his new alias with three perfect portions of catchy machine funk. here the producer balances vintage sounds and contemporary angles, keeping his crunchy grooves fresh and floor-filling. the record artwork features original artwork by chicago artist steven vainberg.

the second 12inch of 2015 for call super sees him contemplating the dancefloor once again, much in the manner of his previous releases the present tense and fluenka mitsu. on migrant, the enigmatic artist returns to houndstooth with two tracks that develop his detailed, quixotic sound with his palette of shady drums and svelte bass work. dreamlike pieces to rotate you into the night.

belgian producer and owner of entrepot records, uc beatz, is the next artist to appear on the san jose label, roundabout sounds. coming out on vinyl only, the la nuit ep features some sublime house, including my favourite track on the ep, alta paper, and a remix of the title track by jeremiah of grow! records out of vienna. roundabout sounds which is now up to release number 14 with this ep, is the label run by joe babylon marougi, co-founder of plug research. the label released a great various artists triple vinyl package, connecting the compass, that featured such house luminaries marcellus pittman, norm talley and theo parrish, among others.

the polish artist aphreme (octave moods) just landed in minuendo with new work called beneath the windy trees ep, this release contains three timeless deep house tracks with american flavour perfect to floor. extra remix by ernie, head of minuendo recordings.

new artist daniel wainwright brings his psychedelic vibrations to is it balearic? doing it is a slow motion sleazy trip into the acid house. swirling vocals and psyched out guitars melt into chuggy acid beats and effects. coyote up the tempo a touch and strip back the whole track on their remix. dubby vocal samples and muted guitar groove along to an acidic finale. the second remix is a real thing of beauty from mushrooms project. keeping the same slow tempo and adding space and texture with mellow guitars and extra sitar. a subtlely developing tribal workout. groovy man.

andre kronerts seminal exu ep gets a comprehensive rework from some of the most outstanding on the scene. tense and sinister new cuts from kronert introduce both sides of the release, whilst the label calls upon remixes from berlin mainstays efdemin and ed davenport, as well as hollands finest export juan sanchez, plus stockholm ltd label boss par grindvik alongside fellow swede peder mannerfelt.

retaining the slurred vocal of the original, efdemin layers thundering effects over chasmic bass in his mix of into the zone, which saw heavy rotation last year. meanwhile davenport brings a wild yet streamlined intensity to c.o.d.e.2.
side b sees grindvik team up with mannerfelt to provide a joint interpretation of into the zone, which they manipulate into a peak-time epic, with a soaring melody over hammering toms. finally, juan sanchez channels funk through roll the dice with a twitchy, groove-laden rework.

the spirit of exu is made physical once again via 12 inches and 27 minutes of wax.

hedonism is an ethical theory that pleasure, in a sense of satisfaction of desires, is the highest good and proper aim of human life, and this seems to also be hdnsm�s ultimate musical objective. their first release debuted as a kickstarter of �variant ep� v.a. series, showcasing three very different yet highly contemplative creations from cumsecade, anestie gomez and man spider. hdnsm flips the coin and for the second episode of �variant� series it lands on two very solid, incredibly moody and extensive works from fresh talents shcaa and cleymoore. the ep features two very different tracks yet they share the same minimalistic core. both works are blessed with intricate micro-drum arrangements for those feeling groove hungry whilst still standing tall in the experimental abstract realm pleasing those who crave unusual frequencies. a-side�s �masquée� is one of shcaa�s typical rides between sound and silence and it is hard to find another artist who understands sound gaps between grooves better than shcaa does. with his signature vocals and an incredibly delicious duality between acoustic instrumentalism and electronic slamming, this is a groovy, highly deep, very intelligently arranged piece. the flip-side �nebula�, signed by pluie/noir�s boss cleymoore, is a tip of an iceberg when it comes to the art of stripping down. in an apparently thin canvas of minimal drum arrangements there�s a vast amount of sound frequencies underneath a steady ever-kicking groove, tricking your mind into thinking that you�re hearing less than you actually perceive. nebula is hypnotic and dense but focused and sophisticatedly groovy. like the repetitive vocals you�ll hear throughout the b-side, this v.a. sticks to your mind like an addiction of some sort and pushes hdnsm to a new standard of avant-garde and forward-thinking attitude. as before, this vinyl only release comes in a gorgeous cover featuring a painting from max binski and the number of copies available is limited

with its eighth release, leipzig-based holger records introduces yet another new artist: vai has been active in the scene for a few years already, with various production teams and aliases. his new project is heading for a different path though: son of idaia is his most intimate work to date, a highly personal record. the elements in use are almost fragile, winding around each other and hard to grasp. so is the music: in between ambient, electronica and ghostly techno it seems removed from its club origins and yet still reverberating these roots. a deep trip down the rabbit hole, dubby, immersive and glowing in all its calm beauty. holger 8 introduces a new line of cover artworks, courtesy of lukas mehling.

the second release on modern cathedrals includes an original mix by altstadt echo supplemented with remixes crafted by donor, luigi tozzi, and asop. the inclusion of donor�s remix represents a continued effort to link together the detroit and brooklyn scenes, while the luigi tozzi remix connects modern cathedrals to the ghastly, dark styles of techno that italian artists have become so respected for. as a core member of the modern cathedrals team and a primary force behind the label�s event series, asop�s remix is the very first public release of work by this incredible new detroit-based artist. but while the artist names change from record to record, the philosophy does not. we continue in a desperate attempt to generate meaning during the short spasm of a lifetime we are given in a world that seems to conspire to prevent this effort�s realization. this situation might be inescapable, but through the rejection of complacency and dogma, we can approach our end with the bitter comfort that we were at least willing to be honest about our situation.

the fourth installment in the legwork records saga sees label heads lance desardi & leopold come together under the artist moniker legwork. for their first outing under the name they start with buck shot, a techno-soul chugger featuring a remix by the futurist himself, matrixxman. on the flip, the boys go in for a straight-ahead killer with mean 2 me and a more musical version of the same tune, key 2 me.

the swedish solo project pro424 has since the debut in 2011 wandered between musically narrow alleys, and finds his passion and inspiration in the classic ambient music, electronica and melodic techno. immune is another step musically both into himself and into the unknown, where the musical norm is put to test and challenged by combining the softest ambient music with hard machine techno. the music can be seen as a fragile mix of underworld and tangerine dream, with a scent of richie hawtin.

cute heels screamed onto the scene with his debut album on dark entries. the colombian s blend of ebm and minimal synth with driving rhythms electrified interest with juan atkins describing him as -the new blood and spirit for the next step in techno music.- tough words to live up to, but this talented artist has done atkins proud with his excellent five tracker, nepotism ep. measured and thoughtful the ep is packed with eclipsed wave and bold beats. future classics shine from the drop. -nepotism structure-, with its blackened chords and stark chords, is brimming with a primal energy. -madame counsellor- ups the tempo, adding some extra squalor with wretched 303 writhe. cute heels refuses to sit in one genre, electro coming to a head in the shimmering mechanics of -cabaret literal.- -the pulse (sex drive)- closes in a seedy blur of neon lights and showing synthlines. bleak and bold brilliance from bogota.

seventh release for biomix! on the a side, 2 classic house tracks from the end of the 80s. on the b side, a strong and funky classic for tropical nights and a slow mo tune with sexy french lyrics for very tropical nights... all edited by dj steef !

chapter edits is the brainchild of scott gray aka chapter (artist and dj) and corbi (producer, dj and a&r at fina records) with the aim being to bring art and music together by releasing disco-funk re-edits in limited edition chapter art sleeves. based in ibiza, they will be collaborating with guest djs and producers from with each new release as well as hosting their own parties under the name melon bomb at various venues across the island.

we were very excited indeed to see the third release from the quite promising love notes from brooklyn imprint! marco zenin was a featured artist on the last release under his dj octopus guise, and this time he s featured again with his other project, the more techy/ more minimal die roh, who recently had an underground athem with their release on black venison. the duo here seemingly lean their sounds in the direction of the label s and offer two-cut ep which is their deepest effort yet to date. surely more djs will play the dancier a side, behind 6000, but for us, the groovier b side and title track genghis kahn is the choice cut. label owner, nathaniel jay, continues in the precendent he s set with each release having its own unique love note,authored by him, making every one of these records collectable.

even though the gazel ep is his first ever solo release on vinyl, Ümit han performs, produces, and talks about music as if he has already released 19 records. a longtime supporter and visitor to the cologne music scene, Ümit is a talented artist, one of the few who produces and performs using only a selection of his favorite analogue gear. so much gear in fact, he has a crew tag along with him to gigs just to help carry the various synthesizers, mixers, and effects processors. he takes music very seriously, his passion is clear, the love is there, and for his first solo outing he joins cologne s leading melodic techno event series turned label, bergwacht. a perfect fit.

aus music continue to bolster an ever expanding roster in uncovering an adroit and overlooked producer - the dublin born producer timothy blake. in amongst those in the know, blake is an artist whose reputation reaches back over 20 years and one whose releases have touched the likes of dirt crew, fatty fatty phonographics and kleine reise.

good ratio music looks deep into the brume and strikes gold with the first ep from carlo on the imprint. forget me not is a record that plays directly into one of the strengths of the artist: melting a coherent whole from ephemeral parts. carlo keeps it rather fiercely on the house grooves, creating a far out sound with his fluent pulse and motif-based melodic improvisations. a unique sound that makes this three tracker remain to him at any spot. on the flip side kresy delivers a solid remix of the main track, forget me not. where he tames the wild things and crowns himself as their king.

somewhere in between de la soul, max graef and terrence parker lives georgi barrel. this mini album is a musical paradigm representing our definition of 2015 club music. infos about artist & record georgi barrel is a highly creative genius producer from kassel, germany. in 2014 we first time took notice of him � and were instantly excited. his highly distinctive, very relaxed and boogie-influenced style is pure joy. from wonky de-la-soul-grooves up to smashing ugly-drums like disco edits: on this album georgi is traveling through the undiscovered no mans land between house, hiphop and disco � the result is a masterpiece that definitely holds a candle to glenn astros throwback or max graef�s rivers of the red planet.

inwave is pleased to prestent its fifth release with 4 powerful tracks by the italian talent zavor, the label boss counrad, the romanian genius dan cristian and by the man of expierence kaitaro. an amazing split where all artist expressed their own style, as scything sounds, breathy vocals, and a variety of vibes lunge from the darkness. techno-minimal and micro-house style that reveal inwave a perfect place to be.

mmaudio is happy to add to her family the artist unthone with his first release on the label. he scored his first release with a sound dub with very deep chord. the release named *visionary road ep* consists of 2 original and 2 remixed tracks by kaelan & echoplex. recognition is a track with a deep chord, the remix of kaelan is a very suitable for traveling, accepting is a track that is based on the dub and remix of the echoplex is elegant to the ear.

yaleesa hall has released solo tracks and remixes on the will & ink label before now, and here returns with four new cuts on the perrin ep. the unknown producer turned plenty of heads with its first full outing, and the stripped back but succulent sounds on offer here will surely do the same again. rubber kicks rolling beneath little flecks of static and raw metal texture. wonky synth lines riding up and down. this is expertly hypnotic, over sized and cavernous techno that will suck you in, sweep you up and trap you in a perfect trance.

the mexican multi-genre record label cvmr returns in its wax infused form with its sophomore vinyl-only release following the sold out, larry heard remixed, tijuana-made phenomena *lip reading* by soul of hex with a newcomer artist. fedde, hailing from the strictly-vinyl/house-head-friendly dance floors of mexico city and currently living in berlin, presents his debut record on the label, with his extended play format entitled *supermoon ep* accompanied by a remixe of the konotopian genius of ukraines hardware experimentalist vakula.

boddika s nonplus label will release a series of 12inches mixing classic source direct with new remixes. jim baker is a pioneering drum & bass and jungle artist who s been recording solo as source direct since 1999 (before then the project was a duo with phil aslett). on june 8th nonplus will issue a 12inch that has a blawan remix of black rose alongside the 1996 original. that ll be followed by a record featuring 95 cut approach & identify backed by a remix from demdike stare.
