after their huge success in 2009 and 2010 one can truly say kaiserdisco are now one of the contemporary stars in the techno universe. rather than trying to match expectations the duo from hamburg followed their instincts and have again chucked out music that will place them in top positions. they dedicated this record to the people in lima, peru. their new tune lurin is a bomb of a groove track with a stunning diversity of different samples and sounds including hip ethno samples and all it takes to make it a hi-tech kaiserdisco product come alive.

here at bearfunk hq we firmly believe in perseverance. we keep asking questions until we get the right answer and with 6ft bear by our side the answer is usually yes. we kept asking ilija rudman to get in the studio and write us a killer lp but being the busy bee that he is it was hard for him to take the time out. we kept asking until he eventually caved in and went underground to record his first lp, >the reveal<. ilija is a devoted and passionate man when it comes to music. one of his prerequisites for recording an lp was that the recordings had to be made with the same techniques and equipment that inspired him to make music in the first place. so ilija hooked up with one of his studio mentors and got his dream line-up of synthesizers, roland jupiter 4 & 8, minimoog, roland sh2, juno 60 and his dream drum machines linn and oberheim dmx. these analogue machines fire up to create a warm and authentic vibe across the whole lp. we are reminded here that machines do have soul if used properly. we start proceedings with the wigged out boogie of >inspectors drive< which might be a little nod in the direction of wally badarous classic chief in< have all the ingredients of dj friendly hits. the lp reveals all the influences that ilija has experienced and it shows the talent that runs inside him as he is able to make such an amazingly retro lp sound like something from the future. we are sure in years to come this lp could become as important as the influences that inspired mr. rudman to make it.

lightworks is a new record label based in london and for its first release is proud to present ossies >tarantula<. the track was an underground hit in londons house scene in 2010. initially championed by ossies good friend dj petchy on live fm the track quickly picked up attention from the major players in uk underground music. support soon came from kode 9, joy orbison, ben ufo, untold, brackles, bok bok and more - with kode 9 so impressed that he swiftly signed up ossie for a release on his hyperdub imprint set to drop later this year.

more beatdown disco badassery from camp sleaze, courtesy of melbournes francis inferno orchestra (fio), whose profile is skyrocketing after a string of stellar releases on dikso, wolf music and under the shade. unsurprisingly, >the night he came home<, his debut ep on sleazy beats recordings, is a right clusterbomb of a record. with rush back and this fire is real, fio showcases just how good he is at capturing the sound of 80s disco (crappy vocals and tom drums, what’s not to love?) and transforming it into infectious, midtempo dancefloor fodder while keeping things deep, down and dirty. lovers on the flip is a tasty dreamy chugger with a hypnotizing groove that will appeal to the fans of the super value special edits series. one of sleazy beats finest releases yet, and as usual, a very limited affair (no digital, no repress).

fully qualified survivor is a 1970 release by british folk-rock singer-songwriter michael chapman, featuring the hit >postcards of scarborough<. after the critical acclaim michael chapman received for rainmaker in 1969, he followed up quickly in early 1970 with fully qualified survivor, a record more adventurous and haunting than its predecessor, with added production flourishes and equally strong songs. fully qualified survivor is the album that established chapman as a folk troubadour.
