leave it up to fulvio to bring the heat with >pandemonium<, the latest ep by the wishmaster!bringing hardcore essentials with a solid intent to disturb and destroy, the wishmaster raises the bar to a new level.
dropping kicks and rocking vocals from left to right and back, these beats and melodies are shattering tools for the impatient. brought with italian elegance, >pandemonium< and >oldschool trip< set the stage for some serious dance-floor antics. the 2 upbeat stompers are joined by mid-tempo bash >back 2 classic<. presenting subtle flashbacks from a hardware driven age, neatly packed in an up-to-date statement.
if you had one chance, what would you wish for?

marc depulse already convinced with the first part of his album >lessons in dub< and thereby thrilled many listeners. now, the young thoroughbred musician from leipzig steps it up a notch, presenting his second release which is a sophisticated mesh of melodies, harmonies, emotions and cleverly worked out sound structures, rendering a special touch to the dub techno. in short, this is a roundly successful album.
it has been half a year since we released the last max cooper ep on traum, so his new finished ep comes in handy for all of his fans and people interested in the grey zone of techno vs. electronica. max coopers new release the >egomodal ep< comes as a 4 tracks ep and adds up to a great piece of music. once again it focuses on dynamics and tangents, along with the concept of complexity and simplicity. the >egomodal ep< stays true to max coopers approach to link a mathematical structure with a simple one. we are happy to say he has succeeded to fuse complexity with variations by still finding time to focus on details and keeping up that nice randomness which makes his music so appealing also for clubbers and djs.
this release is extremely diverse in styles and offers in its vinyl version everything from the dark detroit electro styled techno piece >epitaphy< that evokes old detroit days… to the melodically trembling >autumn haze< that is a huge track because its flow is superbly programmed ... to rippertons mighty house hymn of a remix, ending in the basseline monster >raw< which looses its teeth towards the end.
soundway are set to release the debut album from batida, the brainchild of angolan / portuguese dj mpula aka pedro coquenão. a distinctly modern and vibrant project with its feet firmly rooted in the past, batida combine samples from old 1970s angolan tracks with modern electronic dance music.

originally recorded for chris blackwell of island records the rights of ‘life of contradiction’ were then given to joe higgs who released the album in jamaica and the u.k. in 1975. it was immediately obvious that this was a unique collection coming from a completely different direction to the other reggae releases of the period. although joe had first recorded some of the songs in the early sixties for studio one it was as if he was at last able to realise a vision of his own music that had previously been denied to him: either by financial constraints or from not having the right situation with the right musicians.
scratcha dva has come up with probably the finest match between album title and music in the history of the universe. >pretty ugly< is what it is - sweet and sour, blaring and lush, rough and smooth. the man is a genius.

many prominent figures throughout history have proclaimed that you can get by with a little help from your friends now whilst this is a lovely romantic notion and does, we suppose have some (albeit very small) grounding in reality you need a bit more if you want to progress through life as opposed to simply jog in. zoo look are a good example of this, whilst sam, alex and craig have been friends for quite some time, forging their completely plutonic relationship through djing together, their latest release, number 11 on join the dots is forged from more than simply the burning fires of friendship, its born out of a love of all things deep as well as house music based. they may be mates but you can also get along very well if you have bags of talent too.
supported by dave harvey aka el harvo, ashley beedle, huw morgan, tristan da cunha, andy wilson (sonicafm, ibiza), jim baron aka ron basejam / crazy p / white elephant, andy ash and many more.
disco mali! sofrito present a unique slice of afro-disco from the celebrated griot, niama makalou, recorded in the late 70s.
descended from a family of griots (traditional malian praise singers), niama makalou moved to france in the mid 70s where she cut this, her one and only vinyl release. at the time paris (like much the rest of the world) was swept up in disco fever, so along with a group of malian musicians the date was set to cut a piece of disco, griot style. the resulting mixture of off kilter hand claps, raw string arrangements, balafon flourishes and bambara vocals combine with a heavy disco groove to produce a one-off piece of cross-cultural dancefloor mayhem.
on the flip daphni (aka caribou) crafts an extended version that distills it into a stripped down and dubbed out groove.
well roundeds unrestricted by genre label present to you 3 hype juke vibed bangers from atlantas distal. on >stuck up money< he hooks up with one of jukes leading talents dj rashad. dirty south battles chicago juke and everyone comes out a winner. drawled vocals against frenetic footwerkin beats makes for a fresh combination. on >behold the jungle< a massive musical quotation is submerged by a swarm of angry hoovers whereupon all manner of musical madness kicks off!! >short & sweet< cuts up the breaks over a rollercoaster of sub bass. belgian techno stabs contribute to the mayhem.
after their first album made the crash test dummies huge in their home country canada, their second album meant their big break in the usa and europe, thanks to the self-consciously bizarre lyrics and the deep baritone voice of singer/songwriter brad roberts, demonstrated in their worldwide top ten hit mmm mmm mmm mmm.
other popular singles off the album were >afternoons & coffeespoons< and >swimming in your ocean<. >god shuffled his feet< was the bands most commercially successfull album reaching top album charts in usa (#9), uk (#2) and in different countries in europe (ironically, after a car accident where brad roberts almost lost his arm, crash test dummies made a few other albums but unfortunately limited distribution made these hard to find).
180 grams audiophile vinyl pressing.
versa and rowl are names that have been kicking about for some time now and those who have had there ear to the ground know that these boys are about to blow! all 3 tracks are just stunning. >lunar< is a rhodes journey into 2 step heaven with a serious low end. then >zoidiac< takes it to a 170bpm, but still keeps a soulful vibe that is a delight on the ears. last up, but by no means least is >warewolf< that is currently being championed by mary ann hobbs. other support includes phaeleh, skream, chefal, synkro, indigo and too many more to mention! smokin sessions deliver once again

the day leonard cohen and phil spector decided to make an album together marked the beginning of one of the most controversial partnerships in either mans career.
over the course of three weeks, the pair had written 15 new songs, a selection of which ended up on the 1977 album >death of a ladies man<. it is true that a cursory listen to the album suggest that the whole thing was simply a ragbag of crazy notions thrown into the air to see where they landed. but if you pay attention, it will quickly make sense.
pressing on 180 grams audiophile vinyl, comes in gatefold sleeve.
ihr eher kindliches, mal zart hauchendes, mal schrill piepsendes stimmchen erinnert an plastik-pop-acts der 80er-jahre - ist aber nur der zuckerguss auf ihren grandiosen tracks.
paul brtschitsch and michael kunz aka puresque deliver part 2 of two limited edition lp samplers (which fits into sleeve of part 1). heavily supported by carl craig, luke slater, dave clarke, dvs1..
a symbiosis of two perfectionists who would like to surprise with something new and got lost in the deep widenesses of techno. now, zdenko grbavac and morgenklang let it come true and release their first record in common. the two tracks are technoid, impulsive and surprising at the same time. >epos< comes out on top at the middle distinctivly. the tracks baseline is remindful of the early 80s synth-pop and sounds in combination with the remaining parts like an unstoppable train. the track >novum< is a monster of chord and pushes relentlessly. however the athmosphere creates a certain easiness and moves the audience in a dreamy state.

from universal rejection, the northern cell of resistance that gave us last years acid bomb >le coq< by arab league, comes disappearer.
operating from the suburbs outside of stockholm, disappearer has not entered the techno game to find out how its gonna be played. on >now you see me, now you dont< he dictates right away. with its deadly linear pulse and rising and falling oscillators, >now you see me, now you dont< is a steady-handed techno shocktreatment of the nervous system, exemplifying how it should be done in 2012.
a good feeling starts if the first drumsounds of >feel so good< find your way from the boxes in the space. the head own style drawers belonging open in the half dozen and argue about the most correspondent blueprint. house? in any case. disco? unfailable to hear influence. electro? also not to dismiss this. dub? the father of the whole atmosphere. cosmic? also this is a part of the authoritative ingredients in the here available circle of the sounds. and the dance floor suction strengthening cow bells are anyway a tight of a track element of all last music generations! quintessence is, here two artists have poured your wide motley collection in influence in the form of a single track, have condensed and with it have interlocked at least 40 years of dancefloor history in fresh kind with each other.

luca lozano presents klsunderground001 is klasse recordings first foray into the various artists compilation field, a small but perfectly formed ep consisting of five tracks from various family members and extended homeboys. the idea behind the series is to take the focus back to the music, the ep aims to concentrate on tracks that are made with passion, pride and belief. music that will stand the test of time against the torrent of seemingly endless throwaway material that floods our inbox day by day. the tracks on the ep speak for themselves, so i will do away with the usual wacky metaphors and just urge you to give them a listen. thanks goes to mr. ho, red axes, viadrina, jordan peak and anders hellberg for providing the music and a special thanks goes to the latter three for joining the klasse family and being part of our new series. enjoy the music and thanks for listening. - luca lozano
masami akita and lasse marhaug have been working together since the mid 90ies. the first release on marhaugs (now deleted) label jazzassin records in 1995 was the >first rock< split single. in 2001 merzbow and jazzkammer (marhaugs project with john hegre) released a live album. later, akita and marhaug executed several live collaborations, but often with other artists such as hair stylistics and jim o rourke. in 2010 they finally got together to record as duo. recorded at gok sound studios in tokyo the results can now be heard as >mer mar<.
made using a combination of scrap metal screeching, analogue synths, and enough effect pedals to give you overweight with most airline companies, >mer mar< is a tour de force for both of these noise veterans, hinting to some classic 80s merzbow jams such as material action.
