radio slaves f.y.n remix 1 draws on the essence of daniel bell, combining a sparse drum track with occasional *sverh* vocal while f.y.n remix 2 kills the kicks completely and favours saturated bleeps and ominous atmospherics. f.y.n remix 3 continues the distorted motif but pairs it with pin sharp and powerful drums. a release that is sure to be deployed in multiple variants due to its jigsaw-like aesthetics.

julio bashmore today premieres brand new track rhythm of auld. like recent single simple love, its set to feature on bashmore s forthcoming debut album which is due for release in february on his own broadwalk label. rhythm of auld is another brilliant collaboration with vocalist j danna (who also featured on simple love) and is the second 12inch in a series of vinyl releases bashmore will put out in the run up to the album.

fantastic compilation of sun drenched balearic beauties from the great italian singer/songwriter lucio battisti. features the sublime *ancora tu*, covered recently to great effect by roisin murphy but in no way surpassing lucios original version, followed by the superb in-demand instrumental floor-filler *il veliero*. on the flip is beautiful disco-tinged groover and big moonboots play *due mondi*, one of lucios rare duets from his highly acclaimed *anima latina* lp. also includes lexx favourite - the gorgeous *questo amore* and finally the often-edited *amarsi un po*, an absolute balearic classic with its fat bass, soaring strings, gentle guitars and sweetly emotional vocals. essential collection.

the man like octo octa: best known for his still devastating let me see you cut for 100% silk, the brooklyn producer graces running back with four fine cuts. creating the new, while respecting the old, the more times ep features heavy house (more times), twitchy house (fever dream), dubby house (take me to the dark) and breakbeat house with due respect to ltj bukem (dresses). thats a lot of house for your money. music for clubs and places that would like to be clubs. watch out for octo octa on the back of the brilliant cover.

the occasional (but always excellent) street edits series returns, this time with a trio of high-grade scalpel works from chicago re-edit hero rahaan. as usual, the source material is dusty and obscure, and the reworks revelatory. -city of disco- is in many ways typical of rahaan s work, with carefully cuts and loops being used to create a thumping, house style groove (admittedly one that pays due reverence to the source material). there s more of a celebratory, soulful feel about the impeccable -strung out-, which turns a little-known disco-soul gem into a huggable dancefloor classic. best of all, though, is -brighten you up-, which sits somewhere between later electrofunk and early house, a proto-proto gem, perhaps. either way, it s a killer.

ocoeurs latest album a parallel life finds franck zaragoza showcasing his adeptness at fusing thoughtfully crafted melodies with twitchingly syncopated techno. in a recent interview berlin music portal kultmucke introduced zaragoza something of an idm prodigy and while thats a fair summation due to his preference for malleable beatwork and his use of heavily processed field recordings there is more there than simple glitchery. zaragozas melodies, while often shrouded in hazes of static, affect the cinematic minimalism of modern composition. these such comparisons put him stylistically hovering somewhere between the likes of arovane and max richter which is no meager feat. a parallel life aches, breathes, pulsates and is forever churning. it has a subliminal soul that is all too often a casualty of electronic music of this style. the vinyl lp includes a download code.

finally the time has come! after a long 6-year wait the third edition of the popular computer incarnations for world peace series is due to release very soon. the idle time will be rewarded with a bunch of stunners: tracks by georges rodi & dave sarkys, brenda & the beach balls and anna domino will be featured on the compilation selected by sonar kollektiv-a&r-manager alex barck. of which more later, when the release is ready. to start with, an outright highlight of this set is gonna come out as a pre-release 12inch including two contemporary reinterpretations.

usually found in partnership with blocks on their own narratives imprint, here we find escher flying solo with two beautifully contrasting compositions. deep architecture has already been causing a big stir online due to its wild time signature and off-beat percussive patterns. physically its drum & bass, but mentally its most definitely techno as it pummels with loopy drum insistency. spirit bounce, meanwhile, is a stark and breezy stepper that oozes space and shimmers with emotive synths. its a simple but soulful synthesis many have attempted over the year but only few have mastered... klute, marcus intalex and now escher, too. the return of 31 has been one of d&bs best stories so far this year.

the cellar boyz *pay me* is taken from ben cenacs timeless cozmic house ep on thug records. pay me which was recorded in 1986 is the only track from the cozmic house e.p that had available parts. the stems for deeper & deeper, seems to me & who loves you were never recorded. this was due to the fact that all of bens projects through out the 90s were tracked midi only at mix down, with only the vocals being recorded to tape! thug would never have had the opportunity to release ben cenacs cozmic house 12 inch if it had not been for simoncino. simoncino did all the a&r for the record. a gift not only for thug but any fans of ben cenacs amazing productions. with that in mind, simoncino has provided 2 remixed versions of pay me, alongside a remix from close friend nicholas!
