elysium (a.k.a. burning skies of elysium seit 1985) gründeten sich im herbst 1981 in horley, surrey (uk). ihre erste veröffentlichung war die 4-track-kassetten-ep amongst those clouds von 1983. sie enthielt ihre ersten beiden songs, die im märz 1982 in rendezvous, john ratcliffs studio im süden londons, aufgenommen wurden, zusammen mit zwei weiteren songs, die im januar oder februar 1983 in den ambiance recording studios in burgess hill aufgenommen wurden. später gesellte sich der saxophonist ron howe hinzu. ihre erste vinyl-veröffentlichung kam im september 1984, die summer house b/w through flak & flak 7-, wieder in den ambiance recording studios aufgenommen. ein song aus diesen sessions mit dem titel emporium blieb absolut ungehört und vergessen. bis jetzt.

piano day is an official body created in 2015 by berlin-based composer nils frahm and his closest friends to house various exciting, piano-related projects for everyone to participate in.
the first project revealed by the piano day team in 2015 was the building of what will be the world’s tallest piano: the klavins 450, designed by piano builder david klavins who also created nils’s upright stage piano, the una corda. with over 70 per cent of the 120.000 euro target reached, the piano building is already underway and fans can continue to donate via www.pianoday.org.
it was on the 3.7 meters high klavins m370 that nils recorded eight improvised piano motifs in one sitting, which formed his 2015 album, solo.
