eric is definately swedens most interesting and skillful producer when it comes to underground deep house and soulful techno. eric ericksson released his first single in 96 with several releases since then on respected labels, both indie and major. at age 18, he released a single on derrick mays label fragile, alongside artists such as carl craig and laurent garnier. later the same year he, as part of the duo minimalisterna, released a full-length album on virgin records. in 2011 the ep someone is watching was released on carl craigs planet e communications. as co-founder of kass recordings he released the work of some of the top artists on the swedish scene, such as zoo brazil and style of eye. in 2009 he formed north beach together with daniel howe and since then they had three releases on kant recordings and played in well-respected venues in europe. his latest 12 inch vinyl love cannot was released this summer on freerange recordings.

deep purple’s 19th studio album sees the light of day. it is being released by the german based label earmusic. the band’s last studio effort dates back to 2005’s ‘rapture of the deep’ so this is a long time coming.

after reissuing stanislav tolkachevs masterpiece blue mood, the intergalactic research institute for sound comes back with two fresh pieces from georgian artists zesknel and irakli. following a strong start with de sounds from georgia, this new record explores a more abstract electronic music. zesknel, who is a resident of the renowned bassiani club, collaborates here with irakli on two dreamy and airy soundscapes which aspire to depict and recreate the atmosphere of the georgian capital. to do so, they asked for the help of rezo glonti who proceeded to make field-recordings in tbilisi. this work served as a base in order to create something unique and true to the city. the project is part of a sound installation which aims to blend architecture with sound. the idea of the two artists was to conceive a space where they could translate the spirit of tbilisi. inside that space will be found works exhibited by other georgian artists. and this is all part of the exhibition >lara protects me. eine georgische erzählung< at the museum angewante kunst frankfurt

only few artists have managed to develop their own distinct style to such perfection as abe, while remaining almost entirely unknown to the public ear. he dwells in minimal music, abstract structure and well-crafted melancholia. -peasants sought instead- itself is heavily influenced by modern classical music, modal jazz and world music and is at times demanding, while remaining slightly subdued. style-wise it can be seen as ambient, though abe doesn t feel completely at home in this genre, because of its emphasis on atmosphere rather than structure. recorded at abe s home in rotterdam, it is his strongest work to date and already highly appreciated by some of the most exquisit selectors around.

in today’s increasingly barren rock and roll landscape, ulan bator stand as beacons of explorative songwriting. formed in paris in 1993 by amaury cambuzat (vocals, guitar and keyboards) and olivier manchion (bass), the band’s atmospheric approach to composition has consistently yielded guitar-driven avant-rock at once hypnotic and untamed. and while their sound has developed in a variety of directions – often in relationship to changing line-ups and various collaborations, including with krautrock legends faust and swans michael gira – ulan bator’s resist simple categorization: kraut-y repetition, post-rock guitar flourishes, kosmische synth work, intimate whispering and pounding drums have all taken an audible lead throughout their now twenty-year career.

“dramatest” is a collection of experimental library music published in 1974 by fonovideo and signed by oscar rocchi (and his moniker chiarosi) - an excellent pianist and composer, who worked with many italian jazz heavyweights - and fabio fabor. “dramatest” consists of 14 slightly eccentric explorations of the electronic spectrum, casting pure experimentalism, melody and no fillers whatsoever. one of the best examples of the lost art of italian libraries!

deep shit is best known as a club night curated by jack savidge of friendly fires and edwin congreave of foals. originally started as a place for deep, intense, party music, the last 18 months have seen the two resident djs host the likes of teed, andy blake, leon vynehall and luke solomon at various london institutions including plastic people, ministry of sound, bussey building, and corsica studios, finding their parties championed by guardian guide and time out along the way.

andrew fox has spent nearly a decade in new york city sketching psychic spaces and emotions like a cinematographer in conversation with himself, reckoning with demons, seeking understanding. his debut four-song ep as visuals is released on nicolas jaars other people imprint.

invaderband are a garage/artrock band assembled in 2012 in derry, northern ireland by mancunian singer, guitarist and songwriter adam leonard who enlisted local musicians to voltage-enhance his dystopian post-punk songs.
leonard has a prolific history as a musician with an extensive back catalogue of solo and collaborative work, and was an occasional member of one of stewart lee’s favourite bands, the owl service. he was also the winner of the uk city of culture 2013 resonate award for best song. invaderband’s lead guitarist / synthmeister is chris mcconaghy aka our krypton son. bass frequencies are provided by gavin mccartney (of here comes the landed gentry, the murder balladers) and drums are handled by rion mccartney (on the album) and john goodman (live).
invaderband’s debut single the implausible man was issued on record store day 2015 and the follow-up, attack of the pod people arrived in december ‘15. the singles were picked up by local, regional and national bbc radio, with the latter making it onto the bbc 6music recommended playlist.

philipp poisels traum von amerika begann schon in seinen kindheitstagen als er sich regelmäßig mit den „drei fragezeichen“ auf abenteuer zum rocky beach begab, für ihn eine coca-cola die beste erfrischung war, und er mit bruce springsteen auf mtv die straßen philadelphias entlanggelaufen ist. der traum von diesem amerika, der sehnsucht nach abenteuer, freiheit und weite bleibt für poisel lebendig und findet sich auf der neuen platte wieder, für die er sich mit band und produzent frank pils auf eine sehr persönliche reise und spurensuche in die usa begab. „mein amerika“ entstand auf einer analog-bandmaschine in den legendären blackbird studios in nashville/tennessee. das album lässt eine deutliche entwicklung hörbar werden, poisel hat seinen songwriter-stil in einen bandsound verpackt, der reichlich hallraum für seine stimme bietet. der leise gesang der frühen tage macht einem sänger platz, der die großen bühnen als arena sucht.

as a contrasting follow-up to our first single from rooteo & mahura’s metta album, the second single on made in green records keeps the format intact with entirely different results. deadbeat’s remix on part one was both respectful and subtly transformative, on part two, new york’s upcoming max mcferren, whose busy 2015 included eps on ultimate hits, allergy season, and 1080p, brings us a startling reinterpretation of album closer harmal very much in keeping with the vein of raw, aggressive house coming from brooklyn since that scene’s resurgence. the original version of harmal finishes the album in fine style, blending tablas, celestial electronics, and short melodica phrases that gradually swell with layers of vocal samples and orchestal pads before reaching a climax and slowly dying away in gradually receding layers of ambient electronics. mcferren’s remix leads off with only a bare framework of techno percussion. the entry of a sampled section of melody from the original signals a rapid transition to more abrasive territory, with sheets of metallic noise slashing through the high end, short vocal syllables stuttering, and an insistent bass pulse building up and breaking down with at least one element constantly in motion.
