grammy award winner & multi grammy nominated luisito quintero grew up with the latin american and african tradition of percussion. his father is just as much a percussionist as his uncle carlos nene quintero and his cousin roberto quintero . he became a member of the orquesta simfonica de venezuela , but soon appeared with ensembles such as grupo guaco and el trabuco venezolano and toured with oscar d león . he then moved to new york, where he initially worked with latin jazz musicians such as willie colón , eddie palmieri , tito puente and celia cruz . he then turned to the fusion of jazz, funk, salsa and african music and performed with george benson , herbie hancock , ravi coltrane and toshiko akiyoshi , but also with pop musicians such as gloria estefan and marc anthony. his first album “percussion maddness” was produced by louie vega & lq and was released on bbe records. now 8 years later, re-released on vega records with 4 new tracks also produced by louie vega will be released on a double pack vinyl in two parts, one a double pack 12” and the second a double pack 7” vinyl. enjoy the brazilian, jazz, african, house, & afro-cubano sounds of grand percussionist luisito quintero on this very special vinyl release

the wondrous, expansive and meditative music of spanish musician, luis paniagua is explored with this reissue of his classic 1987 album, neptuno.

opia002 coming in thick and fast. four tracks. two artists. leading the way is steve marie, coming through with a refined combination of euphoria with a definite rave tinge. opiace is a pacey number from the off, with a bassline that creeps in and just keeps on coming back to get you. a dark and mysterious affair in yvar , driven and punchy, laced with peculiar voices.

after releasing abe security systems on the previous release, luis malon returns, this time with two tracks which take up the whole of the b side. a constant progression of obscurity and curious sounds from the south american artist in maybe forever baby . rounding off the ep is astrosonik , broken drums lead you to a place of otherworldly atmospheres, absorbing you in the trip. acquired grooves intelligently arranged by the young talent.

a kind of cosmic ethnography combining pre-columbian percussion and wind instruments together with guitar, tape delay units and analogue synthesisers. check!

best works records is back with a new offering from spanish artist luis junior. the two new tracks -ipsum- & “2db2” come with remixes by the production duo andre lodemann & fabian dikof aswell as one from italian shooting stars stereocalypse.
luis junior’s track -ipsum- continues to play with a slight spa-nish flair reminiscent of his previous output with us. “2db2” offers some more floor-ruffness and technoid play.
as remixers we are really happy to have stereocalypse on board, some might know their amazing work for whomadewho. for the second remix label-head andre lodemann joins best works records artist fabian dikof for their second remix collab after the success of their compuphonic remix.

slow town s 17th release from melbournes luis cl is an ode to analogue jams. the cran town ep shows what luis cl (one half of the zanzibar chanel duo and co-founder of ruff records) is know for: dirty but groovy drum arrangements, analogue synths and dreamy melodies and his kind of lo-fi and blurry mixdowns with definitely some detroit influences. the three tracks were recorded in one take during his studio sessions.
