7th storey projects are delighted to announce their latest classic re-issue, jungle buddha - seven chambers ep.
several years in the making, this limited edition 2 x 12” release features 7 tracks made back in 1993 by jungle buddha, including all four from the insanely rare and sought-after jungle buddha ep, originally released on poetic justice in 1993.
it also contains “the chamber”, which has never been released on vinyl before, as well as one previously unreleased track rescued from the original dats, and rounded off with the techno-stomper “purple gnome”.
the tracks have been remastered from the original dats, with restoration by simpatico mastering and mastered and cut by beau at ten eight seven, and pressed at optimal:media gmbh in germany.

the long awaited ninth release from going good is here. the first live incarnation of naples infamous mystic jungle collective. analogue improv captured live in front of an audience of around 100 people in an art-space in the city. sprawling across 2 sides of wax uninterrupted and encapsulating the tribe s cosmic drenched machine funk live in napoli is a fascinating document of a crew formulating something that touches equally on boogie, new age, house and esoterica with ease while oozing the sophistication and singular style the mjt have become known for in recent years. recorded in 2015. released by going good in 2017.

mystic jungle goes solo with two joints of minimal fast-freak disco experiments penetrating the deep forest looking for some nice company to dance with.

the first release on neon finger found dutch veteran dj overdose turning out a surprising blend of boogie on the techno hop lp, but for the second installment on the spanish label the remit proves to be wide as inkswel and lesser known the jungle sessions join forces for secret river. this meeting of minds, recorded on a raft of vintage electro-funk equipment, culminates in a perfect slab of sweet, low slung grooves for every boogie enthusiast to engage with. there are instrumental delights aplenty, but also some welcome vocal cuts such as the essential -sucka free- featuring john robinson on the mic.

debut lp offering from london rap group jungle brown. having featured on sbtv with their ep ‘take one’, this lp builds on a strong foundation. sample heavy, with strong saxophone performances from ayo odia, the instrumentation is rich and thick in texture. lyrically the group go from light and playful, to deep and introspective with great subtlety. keep it movin (a1) is a light reflection of the group moving from bournemouth to london, while ‘in the city’ (b1) is a gritty anthem detailing the arrival to the city. having a strong performance record behind them as well, the group’s reach is good, both in the uk and abroad.

the second jungle wonz release on trax, again with harry dennis gorgeous vocals, was sub-licensed to both new york label vendetta and breakout in the uk (both subsidiaries of a&m), with some fine remixes by former area resident justin strauss. -this was one of the first house songs i ever heard when i was like 14- recalls felix da housecat. -marshall jefferson has been a huge influence on all my basslines. people usually think that basslines come from 80 s pop bands but they came from marshall jefferson. marshall jefferson is probably the best house producer of all time for this period.-

>the evolution of afrobeat< - tony allen jungle by night drops their first full studio album on kindred spirits. hidden is the first full studio album from this group of dutch lads, who retain their youthful exuberance and innocent energy, and delve deeper into their own sound. moving slightly away from the afro-beat blueprint that characterized last years self-titled debut lp, the nine-piece have added gamelan tones and studio effects to their afro-funk template, as well as exploring other parts of africa like malis desert soul and djembe rhythms from senegal. after two years of playing, and having performed over 80 gigs last year, the group have settled in their own rhythm, and hidden sees them trying out new ideas and forms.
