dub at its best! 180g and vinyl only. ranges presents a collaborative release between two artists hailing from the forests of middle finland. jukka hänninen (aka tm shuffle and dj shuffle) is known for his deep and moody dub house/techno productions and for his label vuo records. jussi-pekka parikka (aka monoder) is recognized for his signature dubbed-out releases from the early 2000s on labels like statik entertainment and pakkas-levyt. together, they deliver two original tracks and two mutual reworks. ranging between warm deep/dub house to raw dub techno, the tracks represent an inspired journey infused with melancholic and reminiscent sounds.

the american pop duo ‘made in france’ has been making waves on the parisian stage with their retro style evocative of the great girl groups of the 60 s (the shirelles, the ronnettes, the shangri-las). this album follows the release of music video clips for the singles -beau brown- and -burn-. musicians and songwriters bathed in the pop music of the 50 s - 70 s from their native usa, johannah cantwell and laura woody take us through the ups and downs of their lives in paris with joyful melodies and self-deprecating humor. the album has undercurrents of surf rock and motown, with riffs from organ, harpsichord, sitar and timpani supporting their texts, which are decidedly of their time. produced and arranged by franck hedin and nathalie loriot (the shuffles, lafayette, howlin’jaws…), recorded by fred carrayol at mercredi 9 studio in paris, the album was both mixed by fred and etienne colin.

‘fallen down is the second ep from tee mango and will sauls primitive trust project, featuring a remix by shanti celeste. the title track weaves percussive shuffles and vocal refrains with glowing synths, whilst colourful melodic layers and resonating vocal stabs armour the choppy live drums of ‘day one. dekmantel regular shanti celeste does what she does best with her remix of fallen down in building a rich, hypnotic groove that steadily develops with intricacy and depth, whilst ‘big tracky disco tool is exactly that.

nice price deal !!! sweet n candy takes up the remix duties and delivers and outstanding minimal-tech house mix full of warm percussive shuffles. meanwhile on the flip side j alexanders original mix shows us his more techno inspired original. with a sharp kick drum and 909 percussion this mix is sure to fit into any late night set taking the dance floor on a deeper journey. >paradise lost< completes this release and if deep is your bag then they dont come much deeper than this, a unique track that fits somewhere between deep house and techno, dark little vocal cuts fit nicely along warm pads, massive sub base, quirky string samples and 808 toms.
