after simmering gently below the surface of the melbourne music scene for just enough minutes now, winters finally comes up for air with “sometimes for you but mostly just because” -- four tracks of elevated jazz/house/soul landscapes, with rhodes, synthesizers, and live percussion illustrating shifts between joy, melancholy, and cautious optimism.

the second reference of mostly records only vinyl includes jorge savoretti as flafour project, pedro d’alessandro from the underground córdoba city scene. our friends from rosario, uefr, presents their covert participation on this release and finally, to open this reference, the founders of mostly make an exquisite collaboration for the dance floor.

since its beginnings, fracture has followed the formula of releasing upcoming and interesting newcomers, people they believe in, to get them remixed by more established artists. this time its none other than uk techno legend james ruskin stepping up to the task, for a track carefully crafted by berlin based artist leiras. leiras comes from madrid, and has in the last few years since his move to germany released a handful of eps, mostly on his own ownlife imprint. abyssal is a trippy and atmospheric cut, the kind of deep techno that can transport you into a second state if dropped at the right time. on remix duty, ruskin makes it weirder and grittier, slowly and skillfully building the tension from atmospheric to potential peak time material.

hang on little tomato, pink martini s second album, features mostly original songs written by the band and its extended family. drawing on themes articulated in their first album, hang on little tomato is the result of the group s diverse collaborations and inspirations. from an advertisement for hunt s ketchup in a 1964 issue of life magazine to a dance sequence in the 1950 italian film anna, hang on little tomato includes songs in french, italian, japanese, croatian, spanish and english.

we are happy to announce the third ep on echocord by one of our favorite producers, stephan laubner aka stl. stephan is mostly known from his own very famous label something. he has also been releasing on labels like perlon, sushitech, styrax, echospace and smallville. this new ep message of sound- is the first part of 2, contains 2 original stl tracks and 2 loops. inside out is a beautifull almost ambient like dubby tune, and heavy snow is powerfull dubby house track, perfect for the dancefloor.

vinyl only , after a short break unison wax returns with a brand new four-track collection of music from the bossman himself, diego krause. the berliner took a year off in 2016, concentrating on other projects and letting the label have a rest, but now he’s back with a refined sound. unison wax embodies a more sophisticated aesthetic, with warm analogue hues and subtle textures to push things forward a little. after all, we couldn’t come back from a break without progressing, huh?! first out of the blocks is ‘nihilate’, which helps introduce this updated unison wax sound, crisp beats lock us into a groove in conjunction with a dainty selection of analogue effects and a funky little b-line. diego carefully adds new elements as the track progresses, keeping you interested right until the end. next is the title track, ‘rituals’, which kicks off with an insistent bassline and spellbinding percussion that keeps you gripped from the off. he throws in some claps to add energy and muted pads, which slowly rise to prominence, giving the track an emotive atmosphere which wraps itself around you. one for the eternal dreamers… flip the record over for side b and ‘dysfunction’, which turns things grimy. marauding beats and bass conspire to create a morose atmosphere. diego’s penchant for super sharp beats is present here again, and the energy builds slowly but surely. a new layer creeps in every few bars and sucks you right into the track’s lair. expertly done, and impossible to resist, this is darkside pressure at its best. ‘eudaimonia’ rounds things off, with more deep grooves. initially propelled by minimal percussion, the track really gets going when more beats are added. it maintains a laid back feeling and, while the drums are solid, the atmosphere is mostly quite soft with swirling pads keeping things light in the top end. when they fall away towards the end of the track we have a rather gnarly close to the composition, as the beats and bass take over. and there it is, the welcome return of unison wax – smooth and refined for 2017…

after a recent, acclaimed ep on madrids analogical force label, suction records is thrilled to announce -grey with breaks, the 8th full-length album by lowfish. the electro veteran, who s been programming 808s since the early 90s, returns to suction records, the label he co-founded and debuted on in 1997

the new bomb on echocord colour comes from mike dehnert. mike already released several eps on echocord colour, and we are happy and proud to have him back. this ep contains 3 powerfull techno-tracks with dubby elements, typical stripped down mike dehnert sound, perfect for the peak time dancefloor. mike dehnert is mostly known from his own imprint, the raw techno label fachwerk which he has been running since 2007. he is also releasing on other respected labels like delsin, clone basement series and deeply rooted house.

we are very proud to welcome back one of our greatest artists and good friends scott monteith aka deadbeat. scott original comes from canada but now lives in berlin for some years. scott is mostly known for his own blkrtz label, but have been releasing on many other labels over the years. the track put on your red shoes and trance is a peak time bomb, dubby, deep, powerfull and melodic track. the b-side, just jackin around is techno bomb full of dubby chords and build-up-madness. 300 limited marbeld vinyls. when the coloured edition is sold out we only have black vinyl left.

lp! cuerpo y alma was eduardo mateo’s second record as a soloist, originally released by sondor in 1984. recorded between 1981 and 1984. in this record mateo also experimented with percussion trying to get closer to a hindu percussion. this record reissued for the first time. eduardo mateo is one of the most important influences in the history of the uruguayan music. mixing beat, jazz, bossa nova and candombe. he was the one who created the candombe-beat mostly known as fusion. he also was member and inspired the legendary band el kinto

kabar is a compilation from electronic from reunion island (right in the middle of the indian ocean). tropical sounds, sunny moods and créole dialect from mostly unknown artists from the island. worth mentionning jako maron ( nyege nyege tapes), alex barck (of jazzanova) or labelle though and some artists with a profile in world music (christine salem, maya kamaty). perfect summer opening compilation for both rare groove diggers and demanded djs in search of the best tropical beats. a musical electronic snapshot from an exotic and unknown part of the globe. half of the tracks on the compilation have never been officially released.

over the last decade andre lodemann, a regular in the worldwide underground dancescene has released on many prolific labels incl. freerange, room with a view, dftd and innervisions. come 2018 lodemann is now releasing his album the deeper you go on his own label best works records. he started working on it in 2012, taking his time for his emotional artistic approach with a lot of attention to detail. the album successfully walks the imaginary spectrum of deep house, tech house and techno also taking dives into other waters. where his previous longplayer fragments was a compilation of past works, the deeper you go is his first artist album containing everything a listener would want to hear both in a club and at home. you can feel that the tracks where created out of the same mold. theres a mood, a common thread and a story through the works.the album is dark in a subtle way and yet has that positive vibe and aggressiveness to it. the deeper you go is mostly instrumental with two features by the british singer and songwriter huw costin, bandleader of torn sail.

we only light the beacons for dispatch dubplate on special occasions and this is no exception, dlr is back, with a first solo release since his 2016 album dreamland. bristol’s finest has kept these gems close for the past year, reserved mostly to his and ant tc1’s own sets - we are proud to finally reveal these locked away dubs. dlr returns to dispatch with his distinctive blend of mischief with mayhem, experimental and unexpected at every turn, but superbly suited to the dancefloor. limited copies, hand stamped 180 gram vinyl.

serendipity - defined as making discoveries or happy accidents - is the debut ep by liam van ryn. its a fitting description for the richly textured and cinematic four track collection that was the result of intensive and prolonged sessions goofing around on analogue gear. strictly limited 12 pressing this is a hell of a debut - one to watch for the future! the title track is the most immediately wonderful cut here, with choked arpeggios, clouds of caustic static and found scrapes as percussion. dj mag (8/10 ep review) early support from: nathan fake - interesting lush sounds lanark artefax - sounds great and is really coherent for a debut ep tessela - this is wicked man, really like that pitch1! based in hull, van ryn makes richly textured and layered, cinematic music that is both experimental and (mostly) electronic. i was interested in the way i could make the music sound slightly unnatural, or like it couldnt be played by a real musician, even though that was often the starting point, he explains. box.

fernando sanz has been steadfastly dedicated to the craft of beats and breaks since he was a young sprout of 14 years in the sun baked southern spanish port city of algeciras. under the imprint orbe records, sanz has cultivated his own thriving techno community as artist and label head. since 2014 orbe records has been lashing the block rocking techno of sanz’s comrades eduardo de la calle and steve stoll, but mostly of sanz’s own prolific moniker, orbe. as dj and producer orbe keeps the mood surreal and dreamy while deploying understated drum machine patterns to hammer the platonic solids that keep his beloved community in tact. his forthcoming 3-track “hohenheim” ep for the barcelona label, lone romantic, keeps the orbe buzz rolling. “hohenheim” kicks the record into motion with the resounding thuds of a multilayered big-room kick while bright synths and sharp edged sci-fi machinery climb the walls in obscure and narcotic patterns. “shimano’s tribute” is a study in the fundaments of techno that lull the listener with an extended 4x4 intro into a state of high mental absorption, just in time to drop the centre piece of the track, an eloquently ovular stutter sliced percussion sample. “edelweiss” sets the record on a outward course for somewhere between the hypnotic dance floor bliss of a pre-dawn sunday morning and the impending angst beholden to glimpsing the dystopian sprawl of civilisation when flying out monday morning.

for our next excursion, we’re off to the library. in search of library records that is - you know the type, the crazy rare records used for soundtracks and such and such. we have a sick selection of synthed-up beats and pieces chopped together by one earl jeffers, making the most out of his international library digging card* (*not a real thing).
for those that don’t know, cardiff’s earl jeffers is one half of darkhouse family, regular family at our sister label, first word, on which they released their debut album “the offering” late last year. earl is a prolific producer in his own right, also releasing over the years under the aliases chesus and metabeats on labels like mcde, fat city and local talk, collaborating with artists like byron the aquarius, action bronson and kamaal williams / henry wu, turning his hand ably to house, hip hop, jungle, jazz and more. all this in addition to running his own label, mélange records.
a dedicated digger and record collector first and foremost, earl has provided us with a quadruple set of heavyweight stuttery sci-fi boom bap. in earl’s words: “this record was mostly inspired by my penchant for the more electronic / synthesized jams, mostly replayed from the original compositions then thrust in to 2028 and beyond….”

in a greek mythology, the river styx is the connection to the underworld, but also one of the few river goddesses. according to the myth, the river styx represents the border between the world of the living and the realm of the dead. the souls of the dead hoping at the riverbank to crossing into the underworld so as not to remain there forever.
the second release of the label unterland defines the stygian sound with its mystic and underworldly tone. additionally, the artwork underlines the musically interpretation also in a visual way. the image was created by talented photo artists salar kheradpejouh. his identity thrives on cinematic vision and matches perfectly to interpret the stygian sound artistically.
unterland 02 is a various artists ep by monoloc and jonas landwehr. with his dark production the young artist gained the attention of monoloc already 1.5 years ago, who then started to followed him closely as an artists as well as his creations. for monoloc it was clear that he wants to publish jonas’ music on his new arising label. jonas landwehr delivers three melancholic dub techno production, which are mostly influenced by his stay in the taiwanese capital taipeh.
monoloc continues to determine the stygian sound with three further productions. strong atmospheric plains, which are characterized by various cinematic sound elements.

lisbon’s parai&#769,so is back, bringing us their first artist ep - and it couldn’t come from a realer luminary of the portuguese underground. dj senior vasquez, mostly known as photonz, has been doing the rounds for over a decade, continually championing the early sound of lisbon rave while helping craft some heavily innovative dancefloor ammunition.

wan chai records is a hong-kong based label, specialized in rare asian records and quality reissues. after a few years of hard diggin’ in asia, meeting the artists and many local figures of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s scene in hong kong, singapore, and taiwan, they wanted to share their best finds and put them together on vinyl with the best productions ever made in soul-jazz, disco, funk, modern-soul, and aor. the result is a selection of 10 totally unknown gems sung mostly in english and cantonese with amazing covers of classics like “lovin’ you”, “make me believe in you”, or “hurt so bad” in a nice artwork gatefold lp.

dimensional people is by it’s nature a collaborative album. originally premiering as a spatial composition using object-based mixing technology playing with the possibilities of sonic design (4d sound) and collective musicianship, the recording expands upon these ideas. dimensional people expresses itself as a dynamic 50-piece orchestra, telling a story in sound. mouse on mars offer sound as a means to encourage open-minded societies, aided by cutting-edge technology including their own mominstruments music software or a spatial mixing technique called object based mixing, with which a spatial version of the work was created. it is a conceptual puzzle composed around one harmonic spectrum within one rhythmic scheme, mostly in the tempo of 145bpm (inspired by chicago footwork, so the dance ?oor is not entirely absent). looking ahead, dimensional people will also be realized through installation, presenting the work as an immersive listening experience, as well as performance.
