the tel-aviv based label parallax brings yogg and pharaoh together for their 8th vinyl release. it starts off with the epic title track, a laid-back bassy groove surrounded by crispy hits and shifted electrical noises, building up to a climatic second part which fuses a lot of the producers unique soundscapes, all on a hypnotic pounding rhythm section. this is followed by a quirky broken electronica short, -ompti-, chopped-up modular sweeps and lush melodic hints create this uniquely structured a2 track. the b-side starts of with -maurice-, a more direct and intensive techno cut, which also breaks into an energetic – wobbly 2nd section which also features many of their unique sound explorations in a dramatic final section. b2, -abadei- has a deeper buildup approach for most of it, starting from a pure yet uneven rhythm section, and growing into a mass of counterparts and layers of noise and crackle. the ep ends with an unlisted locked-groove, an intense and dirty industrial-techno groove.

the flamboyant and off-kilter title track from rones latest album, mirapolis is one of the last solo tracks that the producer composed in the spring of 2017: its one of the rare tracks on the album for which i thought about the live performance. while putting the final touches to it in the studio, i imagined myself at festivals via memories of previous tours. i wanted to record a festive track, which completely stands by its funfair vibe. with this new four-track ep (including three remixes), combined with a new video by aurélie castex, rone extends the carnival of electronic cultures of his latest musical citadel to the dancefloor – and our screens. johannes brecht, shadow craftsman of the hamburg label diyanamics studios, offers a refined reading throbbing with cerebral pulsations. appropriating the main theme in a subtle way, coated with multiple harmonic layers, his textures alternate white noise with organic basses that builds up to a delightfully classical cello outro. german-based figurehead of the south american scene, comeme label boss and founding member of the late closer music project, matias aguayo, has never ceased throughout his career to set off little revolutions on the planet of demanding dancefloors. playful and wild, aguayo sweeps in with a ritornello of chiptune sounds and orchestral arrangements, washing it over with a huge wave of analog synthesizers that destroys everything in its path. french techno scene boss laurent garnier embraces the original piece in all its meticulousness and its psychedelic lifeblood. a hypnotic and mischievous loop infiltrates itself without warning into the reptilian cells of the listeners brain.

brendon moeller offers up his set in motion ep on echocord sub-label echo echo this september, comprising three originals from the dub techno veteran. south africa, new york based producer and dj brendon moeller aka beat pharmacy/echologist has long been respected as one of the pioneering figures in ethereal, dubbed-out techno with regular appearances at global hot spots like fabric, berghain and cielo as well as releases on labels like third ear, kimochi, neovinyl and echocord. here though we see moeller joining the roster of the latter’s sublabel echo echo, marking its fourth release. title-track set in motion leads with brendons signature murky synth textures at its core whilst lumpy low-end tones, shuffled hats and spiraling dub echoes fluidly undulate amongst one another throughout. eastern beach follows, and as the name would suggest, nods towards brighter sounds with airy pads, soft bell chime synths and pulsating subs driving the composition alongside swinging, heavily reverberated percussion. economy then closes the package, stripping things back to gritty dub stabs, dusty 4/4 drums and billowing noise sweeps.

next up on duskys renowned 17 steps label is the return of long term pal kiwi. having supported the lads on 9 of the 17 steps tour dates and having also provided the 15th release in the label catalogue - the fellow londoner now readies his oooh ep which comes backed up with a remix from feel my bicep affiliate hammer. kiwis sound is one defined by positive, kinetic feeling joining the dots between detroit techno, soul and balearic. with previous releases on futureboogie, life and death and moscomans lauded disco halal imprint, hes garnered several accolades including reaching number #85 in mixmag s top 100 tunes of 2017 and sitting at #1 in the genre chart for a total of 9 weeks with his orca ep back in 2016. now continuing on his ascent, kiwi lays out a pair of rapturous, gooey house jams that lands right on time for the festival season. on oooh vocal lines swirl over a largely beatless backing track. a rich, balmy feeling unfolds behind synth chimes and layered delays which work together to form an irresistible summer dj tool. andromeda then follows up and blends 80’s soundtrack-tinged stabs with crispy drums and thick sub bass before being accompanied by a pulsating synth line that carries the track to a delectable crescendo. hammer then closes things up with a somewhat hallucinogenic take on oooh with lfos, analogue sweeps and blobs of acid bleeding together to cap off an altogether warm and woozy trip.

cleveland is forever in search of the brown note. this is his second offering for the esp institute. side a’s tusk is a beautiful paradox—rhythm programs that churn like the inner workings of a grandfather clock, unmistakably mechanical, yet fashioned through muted analogue instrumentation that paints a deceptively organic picture. the crystallized jangle of fm synth voices toy with the softened drum patterns and vibrant animal-like chord gestures over nearly seven minutes of splendor. on side b, aku digs further into mysticism, manifesting digital jungle themes, cleverly abstracted through erratic bleeps, distant tribal drums, atonal flutters and synthetic bird calls. the cinematic quality of clevelands production shines through both tracks, but its aku that sweeps us from reality to embark on a moonlit expedition in search long lost treasures, proving cleveland a virtuoso skilled in building complex narratives with sound. these two songs will modulate your frequencies.

sagmen third release featured greg pidcock and andre salmon who combine to deliver ‘you got it’ ep with four dark house cuts plus two digital only mixes. uk producer greg pidcock’s nomadic tendencies have fostered a strong connection with his music which has seen releases on esteemed labels like hot creations, get physical, culprit, saved, not to mention founding his montreal-based imprint flora. meanwhile, andre salmon’s extensive knowledge of music production has earnt him releases on the likes of repopulate mars, leftroom, hottrax, suara, before founding sagmen alongside aert prog. ‘you got it’ delivers a heavyweight kick and sharp percussive rhythms that lay the foundation for haunting arpeggios and an intoxicating vocal hook before ‘loco’ provides grooved drum patterns, a powerful bass melody and an array of intriguing synthesiser transitions, with epic vocals effects . “tfss’ offers up warped vocal samples and mesmerising motifs on top of a pulsating low-end whilst “esto es montanita’ hits hard with crunching drum sounds, enticing filter sweeps and hypnotic samples. two digital only ‘black mixes’ conclude the package, with the first reinterpretation of ‘loco’ setting an ominous tone until the alternative version of ‘tfss’ follows with a rumbling bass, crisp percussion and dubbed out vocal licks.

detroit duo ataxia offer up their kodak moment ep via visionquest this march, accompanied by an edit from label co-founders shaun reeves and ryan crosson. eric ricker and ted krisko aka ataxia have been at the forefront of the contemporary house and techno scene for some time, racking up releases on some of the leading labels across the globe such as leftroom, nervous, culprit and play it say it, making the duo one of detroits finest exports in recent years. here we see them making their debut on visionquest, the label of fellow detroit natives ryan crosson, shaun reeves and lee curtiss. vhs leads the package with murky synth swells, resonant synth sweeps and fluttering square wave bass tones at its core as shuffled drums carry the ever-evolving hypnotic groove along. the original mix of kodak moment follows, shifting the focus over to snaking bass lines, mind-bending, modulating synth whirrs and dynamic, choppy percussion throughout. reeves & crossons edit of kodak moment then rounds out the release, stripping things back to ethereal atmospherics and shuffled drums whilst subtly stirring in the original’s hooky bass groove as the interpretation unfolds.

waxwing pops up on re-fix with a crafty, chopped up soulful house approach that will sit right with fans of max graef and felix lenferink. -can you- is a summery jam with plenty of sliced and diced vocals and romantic sweeps of melody, while -longfunk- gets a cheeky shuffle in the mix with splashy drum hits and nifty rhodes stabs to get bodies popping uncontrollably. -do it for em- gets even twitchier in the edit, using all kinds of heavily funked up samples to create a killer groove. -stand it- takes a more classic new jersey approach without losing that instinct for crafty twirls and curls to spice the mix up.

cold recordings is very proud to include berlin based producer phon.o as part of it’s growing roster by means of this immaculate ep. across the 3 tracks, phon.o demonstrates his ability to combine uk- bass influences with techno sensibilities, ultimately crafting cutting edge music for the dancefloor.
‘clu5t3r’ opens the ep with a swinging 132bpm rhythm that sits somewhere in between classic uk-funky and a cracking shed/heads high techno anthem. the repeating riff that circles and cycles, sweeps through the frequency spectrum, energising and purposeful. versatile and effective, this is a track to come back to time and time again.
flip the plate and there’s another couple of gems. ‘v3r5u5’ continues on from where ‘clu5t3r’ left off, progressing the mood into a more ethereal space, building layers of pads and texture as the track developes, rising and ramping up, before pulling back and dropping into a rolling rhythm. closing up the ep is ‘h4ndcuff3d’, which takes the mood into a more dramatic backdrop. chilling pads swell up from the ground like mist in a graveyard, while the broken rhythm sets pace, creating a moody ambiance for those moments when you want to take a dancefloor into mystical, other-worldly territories. dramatic and energising!

ikeaboy is the intermittent project from damian tubbritt, who first debuted the moniker more than ten years ago. it s been a long while since any fresh material from this deep cover curio of oddball techno hit wax, but now wicked bass have done the honourable thing and gathered up this excellent trio of tracks. shape memory plies a funky line in squelchy bass and jangling delay trills, while living in the future opts for a more mysterious, pad soaked trip into spooked out electro. on the b-side dayna sports some forthright drum machine beats and epic sweeps of synths that only serve to confound any expectations you might have about the sound of ikeaboy.

oshana returns to partisan with an immaculate transmission that fuses tough techno rhythms with head-twisting psychedelia. she s on devastating form on this record, rolling out cosmically-inclined arpeggios, sci-fi fx sweeps, heavy pulsing pads and tones and crisp, unrelenting dancefloor rhythms.

it’s time to celebrate, nothing less than 50 releases spread along 17 years of existence. for this very reason we have planned this awesome remixes pack, split in two ep’s based in the limited clear vinyl pattern series originals.
the second ep features shlømo’s modern approach to textures, rolling subbass, shuffled grooves, micro drones and lush pads comprise the equation. maestro donato dozzy approaches color in an old school way, vintage grooves, acid lines and rude sound mixed with resonant sweeps and sci-fi paraphernalia. chevel offers his own personal view on form, mixing pads and atmospheres with 80’s flavored melodies and weird beats ending in industrial madness, a very unique version.

on “rest in space”, his first full length outing for music for dreams, the lp keeps a steady pace of around 90-95 bpm, but never gets repetitive with islandman taking us on a rich and ever surprising journey, full of quirky turns and mysterious instrumentations. the opener “rest in space” treats us to a funky percussion-thick rhythm that lounges into a pool of playful & jazzy horn & flute arrangements. this is followed by the epic “night wind” which sweeps across cinematic desert landscapes of synth layers and falls into a dark night time groove reminiscent of nicolas jaar & dave harrington’s darkside project. “seikleos” centers around a motorik electronic rhythm pattern (not unlike the classic electro-pop classic “popcorn”) that develops into a chugging balearic house jam while stand out track “future days” brings in a female guest vocalist to complete the album with a breezy full on groover that echoes of both sheila chandra and tom tom club. also included is the previously released digital single “agit” as well as a remix by berlin-based m.rux, toning down the heavy guitar of the original in favor of a more bouncier interpretation. the stunning “ikaru” wades in through chunks of jungle ambiance and watery percussion to lounge along on a rubbery funk bassline, coupled with a heavy laid back beat and wobbly derelict synth figures. “tawhid” is an odd mix of new wave brilliance and prog momentum that breaks into a cascade of pouring rain and surprising percussion breaks. lastly comes gorgeous eastern guitar opus “the true word of the wind” and the warm vibey dreamscape “following”. as a whole, islandman delivers a delicate buffet of influences - spanning the spectrum from hazy balearic pop to tropical new age flirts to deep spiritual psychedelic jamming.

new yorks matuss returns with the eighth release on her absence seizure imprint this september, comprising three originals from the ukrainian born artist. julia matuss, better known as simply matuss has been steadily carving out a name for herself over the past decade, initially finding her feet as a prominent dj in the ukrainian scene she grew up in before a move to new york saw thing progress and the launch of her absence seizure imprint shortly followed. now eight releases deep the imprint has piqued the interested of dj s such as d julz, dj deep, derek plaslaiko, twr72 and beaner. taking the lead on the package is fairy dust setting the scene via warbling rhodes chords, raw dub sweeps and a pulsating low-end drive before a spaced out, sinuous resonant synth lead ebbs and flows throughout the focal point of the composition. baelfire follows and strips things back to raw percussive feel, employing thunderous claps, a weighty kicks and sweeping filtered sample as the foundation before the latter half of the record works in a frenzied acid-tinged hook. faramant then closes the package with an amalgamation of organic percussion, natural bass licks and glitchy percussive chimes which all subtly evolve and retract throughout.

we are proud to present our second release by beat pharmacy aka brendon moeller aka echologist, a singular voice in contemporary electronic, techno, and sound system musics in his various guises. beat pharmacy tunes begin life as live hardware jams where reverb, echo and delay rule the day, and rugged textures rub against digital processing. in “density,” bass, kick and heavily reverbed piano skanks anchor an instantly enveloping soundworld of deepest dubwise ambience. from around hidden corners emerge the hiss of distant pistons and valves, sentient machinery working in complex relationships. wobbles, wubs and sweeps communicate across cavernous spaces, as strange rhythmic elements sputter and spatter, tangling and massing in double-time to the point of rupture, only to resolve into crystalline moments of suspension into gorgeous, neck-snapping drops. simply mesmerizing, and heavy in the dance. “everything to gain” is spun from the same heavy metals, with a sparser feel, processed voice, and a buzzing, repeating alarm figure that sounds like a submarine warning that the dive is getting too deep, too dangerous… music that is moving, powerful, evocative and kinetic, slotting beautifully into 140 sets while defying easy categorization or description, always following vision over fashion. this is why we love beat pharmacy.

after a short break, caduceus records returns with a weighty techno 12inch by long-time friend pascal hetzel. the berlin-based producer delivers four storming tracks that cleverly translate the 90s techno heritage into the present. on motion blur a hypnotic bleep sequence gives way for majestic pad sweeps just in time for your serotonine rush. -stutter- is more restrained, with a modulating chord sequence and sturdy drums, while -timelapse- catapults into darker territory filled with industrial shrapnel and an extra bit of high-octane paranoia. strobe is the fittingly titled closer of the ep. a pummeling piece of monochrome techno hypnosis with a massive kickdrum drenched in reverb and icy atmosphere.

null+void finally step up with their second release after impressing with the opening salvo from shinra, and this time electro fans will be in a tizz to discover that radioactive man, monoak and london modular s simon lynch have teamed up for four utterly essential workouts that tickle the synapses just as much as wiggling your booty. -tiger stripes- is a tightly wound snake charmer with intricate rhythmic patterns offset by chilling pad sweeps, while -fruitcake- gets even more frantic with its growling distortion and unrelenting tempo. -land- cools things down to a minimalist techno mindstate on the b-side, and then -aesop- teases out a more melodic kind of electro for the braindance crew.

moss co. returns with rising italian star noha for a thoughtful 3 tracker remixed by label boss archie hamilton. loopo di mare on the a1 is a positively groovy affair. rolling percussion and driving stabs modulate and talk to each other playfully, punctuated by big pad sweeps and mini breaks keeping the dance floor enthralled, the kind of track that could be deployed effectively at any time of night and have a different result each time. cat takes a more heads-down approach. loose and lively percussion meets a concurrent synth, sustaining pressure throughout the intro, hinting at deeper message which is finally delivered in the form of a powerfully emotive lead. guaranteed eyes-closed, heads down. archie hamilton toughens up the percussion in his interpretation of cat on the flip side. driving bass meets crisp highs, tight drums and a hypnotic, distant vocal. the lead is kept until the first break where it is used to great effect - kept close to the original, but with added warmth and distortion. a tried and tested dance-floor bomb.

musically and emotionally, superpitcher’s third full-length studio album, the golden ravedays is a one sound autobiography that exhibits the skill, feeling and style that the artist has honed over a period of twenty years, musically, and forty-plus-years, emotionally.

the golden ravedays is an epic album of 24 tracks that was released in january 2017 and is stretching over 12 respective chapter albums during a one-year period. the sixth piece of the golden ravedays puzzle will be released on hippie dance in june 2017.

number 6 of the series introduces two further tracks of the sound adventure that superpitcher is taking us on this year. side a features protest song. if music is a way of transporting us to other places, protest song takes us to a desolate, scary and loveless environment, a burnt-down, burnt-out place where the flesh of its former inhabitants is smouldering, void of goodwill and kindness in a cloud of toxic and greedy smoke. it’s all kafka and orwell and suffering - the most twisted and eerie track so far in the golden ravedays saga. what is undeniably clear is an acute sense of regret and loss - a warning that it could have been avoided, had we only listened to our hearts and protested. in the same vein on side b we hear powerful resistance. produced after the paris attacks of 2015 superpitcher outdid himself with this strong message of resistance. where protest song paints a picture of under-worldly doom, resistance’s techno beat and insistent refrain sweeps us to the surface of the muck of hatred and intolerance we’ve politically been dumped in. a voice that seems like a trapped animal is calling out to us. what is it trying to say? is it crying out for help? is that animal all of us? resistance represents hope and encouragement and could be the perfect marching track to any demonstration against negative forces. much needed in this age of bigotry where it seems like time has leaped backwards to a darker side of history. as for the dancefloor – resistance is irresistible!

ed davenport continues his full-spectrum techno experiments as inland with an elegant new ep on counterchange entitled coriolis. the title track coriolis is a moody 10 minute voyage with a morphing synth array at its core - bright, detuned stabs are layered upon tough rhythmic foundations. the jagged metallic lead builds, unearthing harmonic bleep accents and syncopated fx swells, before folding in on itself leaving the effective tribal drum section to ride on. d10d3 plows forward with an urgent staccato sequence, segueing into italo-horror filter sweeps and noise-laden moments of drama. finally tsereteli is a more reduced modern dub study, continuing ed s long running fascination with tranced-out time stretching and after-hours vibes. the 9th release on the label, the record features cover art by uk artist guy archard and is pressed on 180g vinyl.

coast to coast vividly presents the many faces of belgian producer and dj peter van hoesen. example in case: the title track is a no-holds-barred epic synthesizer composition, recorded at the producer s handwerk audio synthesizer studios. van hoesen s love for widescreen synthesis comes clearly to the fore on this track. it is a beautiful showcase of how techno can be emotive, driving and muscular, all at the same time. entrance to entropic city takes a different path, opting for a much more abstract narrative. shunning away from the dancefloor, it chooses to hint at concepts hidden below its sonic surface. voodoo benny s wishbone takes the listener deep into hypnotic and percussive breakbeat territory. menacing synth sweeps coil around the drums while a polyrhythmic groove shows off its tension, six minutes long. finally, in empire in decline - 2017 dub van hoesen reworks his 2008 classic. shuffling breakbeats form a new base for empire s bouncing synth lead.

tensal opens the release with his own particular version of the original, enforcing the beats adding white noise sweeps, twisting the sound and rearranging the structure in a clever and hypnotic vein. following on b2 a special edit version of the original mix.

futureboogie open their 2017 account with a new release from lizards, the newcastle based duo otherwise known as lee forster and james hadfield. after appearances on labels like leng records, join our club and not an animal records, lizards strut their stuff across two original tracks, whilst man of the moment lord of the isles weighs in with a superb remix. the percussion driven house of “tzatziki” kicks of the release, wrapped in warm and inviting pads and piano riffs. shades of old school chicago house meet sun-kissed balearic vibes on this early morning riser, as the heavyweight bass sounds curl around the raw drum programming and illuminating keys sprinkle over the production. on “aloof”, the tempo is taken down somewhat, as a bass line wanders over a steady kick and otherworldly ambient sounds and hushed vocal clips lazily glide over the 4/4 arrangement. as the track unfurls, more melodic and percussive elements come into play, blossoming into a something quite epic and unique. with a slew of releases for quality imprints like permanent vacation, firecracker, mule musiq and esp institute, neil mcdonald, aka lord of the isles, serves up a deliciously chugging version of aloof. gurgling bass and marching handclaps are dowsed in dramatic synth sweeps and glacial tones, as the good lord takes us on a monumental ride.

sing with me: much in the same vein of the mannheim house sound made popular by artists like johnny d, nick curly, christian burkhardt etc. bretts gives us a deep but driving track centered around an african boy singing. brett chops the sample up to create a choir of ethereal voices to support the boys singing. as the track progresses it takes a left turn into weirdville through some dramatic synth tweaks & sweeps. this track is perfect for anyone who likes to dance standing up, with their head down and first firmly in the air. speaking japanese: many people will tell you learning to speak japanese is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and theyre right. lucky for you, brett has done all the work by translating his message into sound. the core inspiration for this track is based on a sample from a song by get physical owner and artist mandy. they were kind enough to let brett use the sample and run wild with it. the result is 8 minutes and 12 seconds of over driven 909s, rolling bass lines and a pad so thick you need a fork to eat it. all of this keeps the calm while frantic chatter and out of this world fxs take you to a japanese after party somewhere in shibuya.
