a quartet of heavy reworks. reginald omas mamode iv truly does what he does best, bringing a percussive, low-slung funk to one of the most ethereal and beautiful pieces of soul on the album, sunshine. glenn astro, elevates bossa b to a jostling, bouncing shuffler that eventually turns around and heads skyward with uplifting chords and irresistible bass. deoke heads into the darker regions of the original for his hugely loved remix of bossa b. the bass on this one is ridiculous and has caused damage to a couple of sound systems were aware of (genuinely). finally the ever exceptional mr beatnick simply took the stereo track for kalimba 2 and edited it into a mind-opening dub. handling bass and harmonics as only he can, a true highlight of this high quality remix package.

it all started in march 2016 when attek and guy johnson met each other at their school in utrecht (nl). they immediately started working together on some house projects, it was the beginning of a great friendship. when mentor and friend dj caspa sended over some oldskool vinyl which he recorded from his magical collection, things really took off. with deep characteristic pads, uplifting drums, soft chords and warm smootchy vocals, attek and guy johnson went all out with this warm ep. strctr is proud to introduce another beautiful piece of art, mastered once again by the house legend dj steaw.

setting out to make some happy music, sophie lloyd produced calling out in a dreary january as an antidote to the pervading doom and gloom of the news, summoning the power of the most joy-filled sound of all, gospel. this no-holds-barred anthem radiates all the live atmosphere of gospel worship in mid flow, with full instrumentation, keyboard breaks and understated kick drum pulling it all together. bringing in the uplifting voices of soul trio dames brown to re-record some old gospel samples was the icing on the cake, adding the last element of authenticity. a new member of the classic family, sophie lloyds impeccable knowledge of disco, soul and house shines through in this sparkling record, available on 7inch for the very first time.

the ninth installment on tabla records comes from none other than dj/producer, multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer, alexkid. the former parisian turned berliner is without a doubt one of the most respected producers in the game. his stripped back, elegant and dubby sound-constructions have previously found their way on to labels such as desolat, fuse, cadenza and underground quality. now alexkid has supplied tabla records with two of these very unique tunes. his reset-ep shows the kids preferences for the dubbier and deeper sides of electronic music. both originals - fu-man-chu and reset - are delightfully bass driven. london based archie hamilton - owner of moscow records and key member of fuse london - rounds up this three-track-ep with an uplifting and stupendous remix, that can be described as a typical hamilton-groove.

byron s ballads is a dance treat on the housey-ish vibe showing ceephax s melodic skills in full flow. citylink is a smooth house/disco track ideal for cruising the ocean highways and downtown boulevards. sneaker is a poundy 303 classic with an emotional melody which is simultaneously uplifting and melancholy. haliphax is based on ceephax s earlier -friend track- but has a nice camelot chord arrangement and disco finale that takes it to medieval heights. the hague is a simple upbeat house track with wintery strings and distant pianos over a throbby bassline.

pelerin s first release presents the bewildering works of brind, also known in certain circles as ban ditman, a friend of both classical influences and soundly crafted electronica alike. -hribi in noapte- ep shapes the tone of a well thought out concept, using melody and harmony as the center piece of creation. a side - -glotas in tarziu- grabs hold of the essence of the ephemeral human existence, capturing tales of long forgotten ache and nostalgia, making for an excellent after hour tool. flip to b and we have -lacul norilor-, an even more organic piece uplifting us with voices of angels speaking of hope and heavenly landscapes as the waves slowly cover the shore. excellent moments for both dancefloor and late nights at home with friends, vinyl only with original artwork.

uplifting, saturated, proper techno full-range set

label head enzo siragusa teams up with archie hamilton and subb-an for the archenzubann ep . ‘playdem is a beautifully tight rolling groove, an off kilter piano stab and vocal snippet add to the tracks hypotonic heads-down vibe whilst vinyl only track shimmering injects the pace with razor edged percussion & hazy synth work adding a subtly uplifting flava .

following a run of local transmissions from a sagittariun, crump, rob smith and atki2, idle hands turns its attention to berlin and the straight-up, no-nonsense techno thrust of johanna knutsson and hans berg. both respected artists and djs in their own right, the pair have been turning out 12inches together for the free spirit society, klasse and crime city disco over the past few years, but most importantly they ve been steering the excellent ufo station recordings as a vessel for their punchy, primal techno tracks. the sound on this ep taps into the pure form of stern, dark dancefloor tackle favoured at idle hands – no extraneous filler, plenty of space in the mix, but equally built with warmth and personality rather than monochrome functionality. if you need further proof, just look to the fact the ep is named after a swedish soap opera from the 90s. the bleeps and bass tones that pulse through -taggen- are so finely crafted they need not skip and dance around the arrangement. the melodic interplay on -klimax- is subtle but ultimately uplifting and optimistic where so much techno concerns itself with oppressive gloom. -bimbo- finds the pair embracing a more psychedelic approach, but even here the modulating effects processes are kept within certain boundaries so as to not dilute the impact on the floor. after all, this is music to dance to, to be felt over a large system (where possible). moving from leftfield bass excursions to minimalist 2-step, uk techno and now onto this much more continental sound, themälarviken ep continues to widen the range of idle hands musical tastes without losing sight of the complete picture.

shimza, real name ashley raphala, is one of south africas brightest young talents. ascendent, his 4 tracks debut e.p. on cadenza reveals solid production skills and an innate instinct for peak-time bangers. the opening track, congo congo is a dark ride over abysmal tom-tom drums, lively percussions and a gloomy bass lead, ignited dramatically by an ensemble of wide synthetic stabs and chords. in its dub- mix, the drums and the percussion become lighter without diminishing its dynamic tension. the overall weight of the leads and the stabs is reduced, leaving more space to its intense piano and string chords and swinging sub bass. shimza - secret melodies starts with an obscure bass line, but the intense twist of fractioned rolls and arpeggios bring an ascending piano progression that quickly blooms into an uplifting symphony. selector is a deeper cut that keeps the gaze on the dancefloor: the incessant hand clapping and a cloud of low frequencies bumps unexpectedly drag its hypnotic harmonies into a breath-taking drop.
