as far as defying conventions goes, frits is on a whole new level of realness. with his new label bobby donny, hes putting out leftfield electronic music with a big f.y. attitude and hes not too shy to tell you why the current state of the house scene is so utterly boring to him.

kyle geiger returns on his home label with a set of tracks designed to recapture the basic function of techno. it s music to sweat to at a party. additionally, this package aims to capture a sense of timelessness through melody interwoven with a pumping breed of techno rhythms. the title track, homecoming, starts with a bottom-heavy percussive workout, then presses forward with an array of slowly filtering brighter synth stabs. the breakdown sees an arpeggiated synth slowly overtake the rhythm of the track just long enough to build tension and bring things back to full speed. the verge is a very stripped back, drum track style cruiser, which builds tension with a rising distorted pulse sound filtering in and out. just as it seems that the back half of the track will carry on as planned, a running melody comes in and changes the direction of the entire track. the verge (beat tool) is identical to the original, but build for those a little shy about slightly more upfront melodies.

some may know pional as the john talabot collaborator responsible for stand tracks *destiny* and *so will be now* from his critically acclaimed *fin* album - an album frequently ranked as one of the best electronic records of 2012. his invisible/amenaza ep brings the groove and audio-perfectionism of these collaborations but adds an unsettling sense of paranoia which brings the music depth and tension - *invisible amenaza* translates as invisible threat. pionals influences arent really worn on his sleeve, but the forward thinking producer adds his influences of the zombies, roy ayres, and the police into a sound that manages to work on the dancefloor as well as the headphones.

little is known about mysterious producer tommy rawson. our first acquaintance was the aptly named shy track on red rackems smugglers inn 001 release. we tried to find out more but the trail got cold pretty quick. it was not until hearing gilles peterson playing a version of hugh masekelas dont go lose it baby on his show that word got around, tommy rawson was back. this particular anthemic track found its way to mats who then started playing it out and every time, in every club no matter where in the world the reaction was same, people completely lost it on the dance floor! we had but no choice to release the track and luckily enought tommy must have a sixth sense because at the same time mats blasted the track at the local talk office to convince tooli shouting: this is the next big release for local talk, i m telling you! another track made it into his mailbox, the soulful house jam brenda done died with no name. both tracks ended up on this 12 inch of course. mr rawson has delivered the goods here, warm, sunsplashed music all the way. a name to watch for this year and probably not mysterious for long.

dfa has long been a favourite at the bitches hq and we were chuffed to be asked to remix one of our favourite acts, the rapture. we certainly were not shy and dove headfirst into this mix bringing out the guitars and the lovely beach boy-esque harmonies twisting it into an indie-electro-house dance floor stomper. its not for the wallflowers to be sure.dfa have released this goodie digitally, but as we bitches love our biscuits, we had to see it released on vinyl. and of course, we must ensure premium sound quality so this release is 45 rpm on 180 gram vinyl. happy listening.

we think everything we release on frijsfo is fresh. at the same time we believe it doesnt hurt to stay in touch with your roots, which is something buzzin10 does in a fascinating way. we cant tell you much about this young producer from east london, a publicity-shy individual whose music we first heard thanks to his older brother. but we do know he pieces together rhythms by sampling fragments from old tape packs – mainly garage nations late 90s recordings of some of the best djs of all time, including dj ez, karl tuff enuff brown, dj luck & mc neat, and ray hurley.
