on this record ben sun presents an old style lp format - 40 minutes of moods and grooves interwoven with an intimate story, of individuals struggling to live freely in a time of oppression. after a sultry jazz opener where the characters are introduced, the lp kicks off with a sweet and slow soul track in work again, underpinned by a rotating acid bass. third comes salty tears, the underground disco floor-filler (original limited 12 version) finding a second home on vinyl. your camera and monday usher in some moody rhythms to complete the first side. sin casa opens the flip with some minor-blues improvisation that gives way to a spacious deep house jam, where the protagonists emerge again. still missing shows deeper shades of a eurobeat style - an emotionally compelling club tune that sounds somewhere on the italo side of 1980s manchester. the story comes to a conclusion with cowardice, and the casual jazz-house sounds of mamans lover. killer album!!

beautiful deep house by label boss tyson ballard. tyson has covered all grounds on his latest ep - feel like i feel. *charges* begins the experience as a slow jam with the essence of uku kuut or moon b. the title track is an euphoric journey of lost love with long time friend sheff providing hypnotic vocals and linkwood giving his master stroke on the rhodes, creating a highly charged emotionally intense atmosphere. *all night* starts gearing towards the early morning hours vibe following into *all day* which rounds out the ep with a perfect powerhouse. nice!

berlin + mexico based, but outer space destined, man power keeps his pants on for this vr floorshow, you might not though! geoff kirkwoods premier adventure on the inimitable voyeurhythm records (his first original outing since his acclaimed lp early in 2015) sends us on a serious electro flavoured journey to future times... imagine hovercraft trains, laser beards and rowboats in charge. side as ruthvern goes in big with some hypnotic peak time acid action, while wither pushes and builds the rap squelch even further, adding an epic saxophone section lifting the entire affair skyward!

vr is delighted to welcome the ukranian disc jockey volta cab for its thirteenth release. the dnipropetrovsk local delivers a three-track ep that kicks off with the dance floor weapon i cannot sleep. classic warehouse beats in combination with twisted vocals. jamelia builds up on the a-side with some shifting hats that call for the dance floor. in b2, volta cab remembers when house had artists and personalities. i remember is an idyllic journey that tells a story.

impressive voyeurhythm debut by elliott thomas, straight out of portland oregon!! elliot delivers a journey filled first record. known for his kick ass live sets in the bay area, camera shy elliot shows true mastery of his tools well beyond his years. the a side sirius is a serious instrumental number filled with analogue sweeping synths and percussive roland drums reminisce of old recloose and carl craig. the b side desert light has elliot come to the floor with his own vocals, dubbed out bass and shows hes ready to forge his own style of electronic music. available in limited run vinyl.

ben sun kicks off the ep with some glorious grass roots house vibes. after releases on wolf music and under the shade melbournes francis inferno orchestra s make their debut for vr with classy, lo-slung but urgent take on deep house. legendary australian dj hmc joins in with some p-funk flavoured starr trax and last tyson ballard with some warm, spacious sunday-vibe piece of house music that is my house . touched by the magic that is linkwood for the mixdown, it s an infectious piece that draws a fitting end to a superb ep. another great release on this cool label.

megadon betamax as we have come to expect from the megamax, falling is all analogue warmth and big bottom boogie love. this mid- tempo track is laced with lush synths, ethereal soulful vocals and a twinge of surf guitar. dj raw sugar goes deep with a dusky, dubbed out remix that will have every head nodding. a megadon classic from vr002 is revived by austrian talent lesale, who turned in a version of he cant love you that couldnt be ignored. sweet sweet sweet!

a return to vr from ben sun, who delves into deeper territory on the original cut, emotive analogue synths washing over a roland drum groove and a swirling female vocal, all underpinned by a warm, rumbling bassline. the flipside features some heavyweight remix work from the prolific deep space orchestra (use of weapons, art, delusions of grandeur) and label mate tyson ballard teaming up with vincenzo (poker flat, dessous). vincenzo and ballards mix is a heavy hitting, moody take on the original, with subtle, dark strings and a growling, evolving bassline, while dso round off the release with trademark fat drums and soaring melodic synth work.
