mystery production unit dj bmx continue their thrilling, no-nonsense adventures in the underground with the conquest of gravity ep for mil. techno-fused roller -warrior within- gets matters underway as thumping bass and ticking hi hats form the fore of the track, marching along over off-kilter bleeps and succinct glitches. the rough n ready aesthetic of the track sets the tone excellently for the ep, leading coherently into -wonders of time- where slight changes and improvisations keep your attention, with dubbed out key jabs that are matched melodically against atmospheric synth pads whirling in and out over crisp percussion clicks. -spinning across the sky- maintains the inspiration for myriad sources, cosmic, dreamy chimes are sprinkled over a tentatively used piano sequence, distorted key kicks and muddied percussion. its the only moment on the ep to include a vocal, and its used beautifully as it floats around the tracks central structure, lending it a spacious and depth-charged feel. -radim world- finishes everything off with a touch of pepe bradock style elegance - the multi-layered arrangements are fluid and dynamic, resulting in well-executed deep house.

2015 repress ! passionate advocates of vinyl, apollonia re-press point gs rare classic underwater, the first in a number of their personal out-of-stock favourites. the archetypal track of the paris afterhours that encapsulates the sound of the batofar kwality parties, a memory which is at the very core and stimulus of apollonia... underwater was a favourite of the trio back in 1998 and continues to be a record bag must-have in 2013. moody, bassy, a freaky lose-yourself-moment in the spaced-out melody, this deep house classic is being re-pressed for the first time exclusively on apollonia. a production project of dj gregory, the point g imprint created in the mid 90s offered a dark, raw interpretation of us deep house, given his alternative french twist. making a strong impact on the underground scene at the time, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw and on the raw again eps, hence original copies of many of his early tracks are extremely scarce

pablo and shoey return just in time for festival season with 4 new bits for the front of your box. e-man groove is a massive disco-rock jam that could have been sprung from the minds of dem idjut boys, with sympathy for the devil style percussion and wild guitar riffing driving the whole thing. blazing sunshine, meanwhile, is a funky, hammond organ led version of let the sunshine in, a guaranteed hands in the air moment when dropped at the right time. disco treat is more of a modern floor-burner, closer to straight production edit with a bouncing bassline and all manner of whacked out disco sounds in the mix, not to mention breakdowns for days. rounding off the package is some classic funky soul breaks - the lads tear a chunk off bettye lavettes soul tambourine to make play it, break it on down! as sampled on stezos golden era hip hop rocker to the max.

we dont question the relevance of techno in the current musical landscape, but look back ten years or so and youll figure things were a little stagnant and uninspiring. the techno scene in berlin certainly did a lot to spruce new life in the genre and people like merbeck with his vault series releases were somehow pioneers of the industrial-influenced sound we now celebrate and take for granted. now landing on m_rec ltd. with a 3 track ep, the berlin resident fuses his aggressive sound with the hypnotic, dark-room elements that have defined the labels vision. m_rec ltd. starts 2015 with a nasty release: three tracks that fit any moment of a proper techno set.

for a brief moment turin was italys sheffield, producing an astonishing number of diy electronic groups. in the context of a wider europe, italy has never been thought of as a hotbed of minimal electronic music, but mannequin records compilations danza meccanica: italian synth wave 1982-1987 have shone a light on a scene little heard, even within italys borders. but the history was still incomplete ... some new horizons now must be unveiled, showing that between the years of 1982 and 1984, the city of turin in northwest italy was home to a quiet underground renaissance of experimental electronic music.

the third 12 inch sampler taken from lukes unfinished business compilation series, this time featuring a lost dub of the nails classic hurt u featured as part of the kittens single back in the year 2000. nail is enjoying a fantastic and deserved renaissance at the moment and will felt it was high time let this baby loose. this is followed by another lost gem from the wonderful tak label. the last unfinished business compilation featured the timedwellers and now it�s time for collis king, look out for some unreleased gems to be featured on an ep from classic later this year. number 3 is the tripped out vocal classic from sandee - given some modern day remastering business a record that has proven to be totally timeless - and a stalwart at luke and kenny hawkes legendary space nights at bar rumba. and finally - lukes very own stop the riot - the first single he recorded with sam lynham from gramme championed by the likes of skream on radio one and nemone on 6 music - we felt the single deserved its very own place on vinyl.

few djs and producers have credentials quite like sammy dees. a longtime fixtureof berlins club scene, a cornerstone of the esteemed perlon imprint and a regular djand panorama bar and club der visionaere, his taste and signature style couldhardly be more well-­&#8208,,,,,honed. earlier this year, he created a new platform for hisunique take on house and techno: ultrastretch, a label that hit the ground runningwith a 12-­&#8208,,,,,inch by matthew burton. slick, modern and touched with surrealism, therecord had all of the unique flavor one would expect from a label by sammy, provinghis skills as a selector extend well beyond the dj booth. ultrastretchs second release lives up to the same high standard. much like matthew burton, seuil is a highly imaginative producer whos kept a low profile despite astring of excellent records. based in paris, his lean and funky sound has placed himat the forefront of his citys reemerging party scene. many of his past releases havebeen punchy but subtle, balancing dance floor utility with an ear for restraint. on >oamer< he goes even deeper than usual, crafting a vivid afterhours track out ofhypnotic drums and bleary-­&#8208,,,,,eyed chords�nervous one moment, euphoric the next.like its title suggests, >dark rooms< is a clubbier affair, charging ahead withfragmented vocals and a brisk driving rhythm. this is one to put on as the nightturns serious. for the final track, sammy brings in an old friend: baby ford, one of germanys finest purveyors of skeletal, ultra-­&#8208,,,,,deep electronics. his remix of >oamer< expands on the originals dreamy side, with sanguine chords and abstract imagerylayered over a crisp bass drum. aimed at the dj and the connoisseur, oamer is one of the classiest records of the year so far, from one of its finest new labels.

the second release of inkblots involves three great artists deeply active into the international techno scene: the japanese go hiyama and the berlin based duo i/y. on side a, go hiyama�s first track �recur� delivers sinister atmospheres matched with a tough kick and industrial bleepy elements. slow and paranoic drones get in and out contributing to enlarge the sound perception. the second track �prop� introduces elegant hi-hats and strident synths. a captivating kick perfectly embraces the shrill synths waving together with the sharp drum, what remains of the first side is just tense ambients, forewarning the journey is not over. side b smells like a dark club firing up, indeed i/y�s aim is not different at all. �thesys 0000.001� debuts with a thin bassline and distorted grave surroundings. the track evolves with clean slap hats sound in an empty echo chamber. deep timbres rise and fall, turning the entire route gently aggressive. the second track is an idm experiment which keeps a trippy approach and the clarity of claps and hi-hats. solid as the first one, �thesys 0000.003� sets itself as an hypnotic but pleasant moment where suspicious fragments quickly appear and disappear: a sparkled trip to be enjoyed anytime but not by anyone.

f = ma is an hard techno ep, dynamic and pressing both for side a and side b. a two-track ep that was inspired by the physics formula s second law of motion which states that the acceleration of a body is directly proportional and in the same direction of the force acting on it, while it is inversely proportional to its mass . the track on side a, entitled -massa- is a techno track, properly basic, structured on a massive scale, and that is why it was chosen as the track for side a minded for a dance floor set. a piece that starts with decision, full of body and massive , and that is why was named massa. the track on the b side, -accelerazione- is more quite, but another dance track for this great disc. a bit more slender and smooth, with broad- acceleration in a dance floor moment certainly forwarded more than the cervical part of a set, to be spent at the end to throw the disc to the latest beats.
