permanent vacation are delighted to bring you the second chapter of the first space oddities saga compiled by alexis le-tan (music journalist and member of the tigersushi bass system) and jess (formerly of the famed french house duo jess & crabbe and now drummer for punk band 10lec6). the pair met in 2001 through a mutual love of no-wave and leftfield disco. in 2003 jess came upon a big collection of library music, which he bought for next to nothing. whilst he was ciphering through it and finding the most interesting extracts, alexis was digging in all things cosmic, where along the way he also started to pick up many bits and pieces of obscure mood musics. in 2007, they put together some of their best space disco treasures giving birth to the highly acclaimed space oddities project released last july. as the first episode of space oddities was reaching to an end and following the amazing feedback they received, the parisian duo started working on the next volume in the heat of 2008’s sunny days. a new direction was chosen: more organic, guitar lead and psychedelic than the previous one, still focusing on the dancefloor and their love for freaky synths and fierce beats.

mighty robot kicks off 2009 with the first vinyl release from french electro artists katelectro and jauzas the shining. the original version of >plug< is music custom-made for a dark room and a strobe, the spoken vocal adding to the sense of vague unease. newcomer ottomatique takes his >plug< rework in a different direction, retaining the vocal, adding some eighties synths and underpinning it all with a throbbing industrial meets disco bassline. the legendary ultradyne push the discomfort and discord up a notch in their remix, staying fairly true to the original, but drenching it with their unique sinister atmospherics. things take a reflective turn for closing track >art of noise< as ghosts crackle in the circuits and bring the collection to a close.

claque musique present their fifth release, which is a technoid gem from hugo (already responsible for the brilliant third 12 inch on the label, entitled born to bop) called strobo revenge. another zany electronic bullet that is destined to cause mayhem on dancefloors worldwide! on the a side, jumping beats, vocal mirages and compressed synths create the groove on the original mix of the title track. a fizzing bassline and echoing whistles enter later on and they give the track a slice of claque musique zaniness. a2, prismatic visual, is a powerful floor filler, which is slightly less crazy then its musical partner. hugo uses dependable percussion, watery synth action and inviting vocals to create this musical treat. on the flip side, carola pisaturo brings us a moody version of strobo revenge that squeezes something else out of those whistles. she employs heads down percussion, vocal shards and smooth synths on her version. portable/bodycode heightens the intensity with a jackin rerub that sends the track in another direction completely. marching beats, acidic synths and hollow bass drops work wonders on abrahams revision
