short stories is the fruition of musical ideas brought forth by label owner / chief producer gabriel ananda and multitalented instrumentalist and vocalist alice rose. the two of them have come together to resurrect a project from 2001 and have put together a colorful mix of strings, vocals, and melodies. there is something familiar and comforting in the sound of this ep. it could be roses strings, which were introduced with her debut for basmati food for dreams (basmati 06), or elements of anandas live series, there is an aspect to the sound that just fits. ananda and rose have delivered the complete package. the a-side opens with the not-so-short short stories, a fourteen minute evolving trip covering the scope of both producers’ talents. the b-side contains two versions of “struck by light. the techno version comes with power and emotion, crafted for the dance floor, which is followed by the deeper, original version recorded for the first time in 2001.

alice rose, the surprising and inspiring danish musical phenomenon, and one-woman-electroavantgarde-show, has started a new project called tiger rose. after releasing three highly musical dream-pop albums as alice rose, the cologne, germany based avant-garde singer-songwriter has beamed herself onto the planet techno, and shes firmly planted her flag with the tiger rose debut, >food for dreams<. as tiger rose, alice works the four-to-the-floor bass drum with enough space around it to make a cinematic playground for her musical imagination. and when she pours it on, she breaks free of the restrictive corset of regular dance music. on >food for dreams< the techno tracks pop to life, full of depth and groove as well as sparkling lightness. gabriel ananda, her long-time collaborator and friend, had his hands on the mix which makes it even more exciting. with the debut of tiger rose, a new imaginative musician has entered the techno scene with the potential to inspire techno and dance music fans alike. listeners beware: this tiger is going to make you move and groove.

refreshingly different from the common techno mainstream gabriel ananda breaks hearing- habbits using well dosed deep structured sounds. connoisseur of the uncommon enjoy his straight and fiddly cool beats. definitions become useless if techno, house and dub merge utogether like in gabriel anandas productions. since his first release in 1997 on the german label hörspielmusik by now over 20 singles on imprints like trapez, utils, treibstoff, platzhirsch and karmarouge records followed. >selected techno works< is a collection of all his floorshakers that rocked the worldwide dancefloors during the last years and a chill out cd with previously unreleased material for a laid-back time afterwards.

parallel to the release of his album >selected works techno< ananda starts on basmati his live series. published here are the tracks which have been established on the floors during his recent live sets. the tracks hold almost forgotten practice to deceive an audience: occasional imprecision is a stylistic device, the post production was skipped, unpolished rough edges remain. live series vol.1 is coming with the tracks >alpha< and >smash<. this year at least 3 more releases of this series will appear on basmati.
