e-missions co-founder p.leone returns to radio slaves rekids this september with the my lita project backed with remixes from mark broom. originally hailing from new york, p.leone now resides in berlin where he helms his e-missions imprint with releases from himself and co-founder caiazzo, exciting new artists like rush plus and tred, not to mention remixes from young male, spencer parker and lawrence lee. leone has also dropped a variety of releases on rekids and work them records, when not making regular appearances at clubs like tresor. he now returns to radio slaves respected imprint with ‘the my lita project, following up his highly lauded el dorado ep that garnered support from ben sims, jackmaster and spencer parker. my lita kicks things off with classic synths, piercing strings and choppy vocals slices whilst robust drums march forward. meanwhile, tight in the pocket is more dark and menacing in comparison with its syncopated percussion, echoing claps and ethereal atmospherics. on the flip, mark broom drops two different remixes of my lita the first is a robust cut complete with disco elements like funky guitar licks and soulful voice, with the originals stabs shining throughout, whilst the second remix takes a different route with its crunchy snares, moaning murmurs and fuzzy effects.

um:bros project is back from 1984, they played mainly live during mid-eighties in one of the first italian electronic club called suburbia (perugia). they signed for the legendary house of music italian label but this album never saw the light (due also for the short life of the label). um:bros put togheter elecronic, new wave and italo-disco in a modern and updated style!

if you have been following graeme clark in his solo disguise as the revenge or the stream of 6th borough project 12-inches leading up to this one, you should know what to expect here—deep, blissfully hypnotic sampledelia with track flows governed by the laws of extreme repetition. its a shame that trance means a particular subgenre of electronic music, because that term applies just as much to the effects of these tracks as anything tiësto has ever played.

after a wildly successful collaboration on thatmanmonkzs turn it out from the lp, columbus-ing, dave aju suggested they should continue their production streak for a new percussive tracks project. at the same time, aju had finally kept his word to legendary bay area club/underground mc and personality, foxxee aka foxxee brown aka lawrence petty, to work on a track together as well. petty being a core part of the infamous ya mamas house radio show on 106 kmel alongside pete avila and david harness that introduced legions of young bay area djs to real house music, includ-ing aju, in the early 90s.

octave one announce their new album under the much loved random noise generation guise. the first rng release was falling in dub in 1991 and sounding just as fresh 27 years later, endustry is due for release this spring. something of a new take on their creative process the burden brothers made most of this music on the road while they toured over the past year, using the country they were in at each time they recorded to influence and inspire each track. we were tucked away in so many hotel rooms that we decided to make sure we brought enough extra equipment so that we could set up a true lab to create from country to country and make the grooves that we wanted to experiment with on the dance floor. comments lawrence. this body of work encompasses 7 full length cuts, naturally all with that classic octave one emotion. alkaylze, more than any of tracks on this project, embraced the original spirit of random noise generation in so much as the machine seemed to be really guide the creative process. adds lenny much of the foundation of the composition was very accidental, but inspirational, with various musical devices interpreting data in a very unexpected results. it actually came together quite quickly but things just fell into place so naturally. after touring and making music for decades the spirit and essential energy of the craft is what keeps them eternally inspired to keep creating and touring the globe. once it takes hold of you you cant stop even if you wanted to. says the pair, and so endustry is born.

what started out as a simple email exchange between a young, hungry beatmaker and a seasoned player in the worlds of jazz and midwestern indie hip-hop, has resulted in a vibrant record nearly a decade in the making. on one side of let it out sits miles bonny, a long time musical collaborator who spent his youth soaking in powerful musical moments in nyc under the tutelage of his trumpet-slinging father, francis bonny, and later as a teen immersed in new york s busy indie-hip-hop scene. as he grew up miles cemented himself a niche in the midwest, most notably in lawrence, kansas where tireless forays into beatmaking led to the founding of the much-loved innatesounds crew and record label, as well as a series of solo releases and collaborative projects.

proving he knows how to work a dancefloor, rising star latmun makes his debut on hot creations with the mighty footsteps, featuring vocalist amy douglas. in equal measure, the b side piquant delivers another heavy hitter.
a certified tech house bomb, footsteps is full fire from of the off. new york based vocalist, amy douglas, brings extra heat, adding a distinct intensity in the build up. with a current track out on soul clap records and an upcoming ep with juan maclean as part of their peach melba project, amy is one to keep an eye on. one the flip piquant offers another peak time killer for the dancefloor.

the second release from mic comes from ladies as pimps - laps for short - is an anarchic glasgow duo formed by lady two collars of golden teacher and sue zuki from organs of love. their duets take centre stage on who me?: the vocal performances range from the stretched, soulful projections of ode to daughter to the lawless, clipped, sweet &, sour, spat-not- spoken word of edges. spirited percussion scatters in all directions and bass is smothered in tape delay, as the four tracks beat through dub, rnb, house, and way beyond, circling around acts like madame x, the bug, stuart argabright, francois k, mashing absurdity with dread. recorded at green door studios in glasgow (where the two met) and layered with the analogue production techniques learned on the first youth unemployment programme there, the energy and charisma of these recordings promise a pretty unique live show when they support princess nokia later this year. supported by ben ufo, dj moxie, pariah, optimo, nts, vinyl

new label funky fungi preps its debut release for this march, featuring two original tracks from label boss georg stuby and his production trio the gravy underground. hailing from zurich switzerland, georg stuby is a longstanding house and techno dj, producer and teacher. his new creation, funky fungi is a vinyl based record label working as an outlet for georg and his friends to release their music. aside from the solo release, this ep also features the gravy underground, a collaborative project with georg’s friends christopher lawrenz & jonas, who already remixed one of georg’s tracks on his last formresonance ep. the opening track ‘metro bass’ has a dusty analog feel and delves into the depths with shuffling percussion and reverberated effects which spiral out of control, all saturated in white noise giving off the spatial aesthetic associated with an echo chamber. next up, the gravy underground production trio create a mystical journey in ‘keep it gravy’, as minimal kicks chug alongside off kilter hats and twisted vocal snippets that are delicately layered with field recordings.

container is a recent moniker of nashville, tennessee resident ren schofield who has been actively shifting about the u.s. playing shows and releasing cassettes on his mysterious i just live here imprint for a long while now. known primarily for his god willing project, a disjointed, confusing, maze of crude oscillator, tape, and guitar, ren has established himself as a staple in the east coast underground.
here we have a new experiment in electronic beat oriented music. this is no standard fare, however. it glows with a vision all its own, completely isolated and separate making it difficult to place in the awkward world of the genre. the sounds are a thick stew congealing new ideas and naive experiments into something in the ballpark of the new super weird wolfgang voigt 12 inches, abstract and minimal in nature with time stopping tendencies. take those 12 inches and send them thru the garbage can, tape loop, reel to reel experiments of ake hodells >220 volt buddha< or that weird track with lawnmower by charles amirkhanian on the first slowscan volume and we might be getting closer.

with his debut release on co-owned smallville label stefan marx presents an exclusive poster collection coated inside a gatefold 12inch cover sleeve. giving the smallville shop and label a visual face since the very beginning stefan marx created hundreds of posters and partyflyers, painted the shopwindows regularly and set up every single record cover. now its the time for himself to release an extraordinary smallville issue in 12inch format. three posters (each has the size of 90 cm x 60 cm) including a first appearance of his band project the dead sea (aka stefan marx, rvds, lawrence and birte löschenkohl). smallville 25 is a collaboration with nieves, the zürich based publishing house of stefan marx and some all-time favorite contributors such as kim gordon, mike mills, mark gonzales and wesley willis. stefan is working with nieves since 2004, publishing books and zines on regular basis. the smallville release is dedicated to ariel pinks haunted graffiti, probably the best band in the world. so it was a massive pleasure that maya chose 2020vision for her next full single release. when we discussed the project with her we agreed it was vital to put together a single that truly reflected her diverse tastes and skills. the title track >focus now< is a unique work that will be hard to even categorise. reminiscent of early matthew jonson records >focus now< features delicate synth sequences weaving in and out of intricate rhythms. it sounds amazing on big systems, like at fabric, where it was road tested by ralph lawson at the recent 2020vision party. it is one to drop at the right time to make a real change in mood and set direction. we then have >little one< which is a solid deep house groove, simple but effective. vocal snippets are added by mjc herself on both tracks but her true vocal talents are shown on >senseless<...
