in the late 80s i started listening to uk radio stations when i was a little kid and i instantly fell in love with the acid sound and rave movement that was portrayed on those uk dance shows. when i got old enough to attend clubs and warehouse raves, to experience the movement first hand, it was a nobrainer for me that the music and the lifestyle was my call. lately…. in my dj sets and when producing music… i have been time travelling back to those days. back to how i remember the music i fell so deeply in love with and that is exactly what you hear on this “done/undone” release. for the “done” track i teamed up with cari golden to have a female spoken word and a great message to build the music around. i always prefer to do original vocal recordings rather than using samples. cari understood 100% what i was after and i love the lyrics and execution by her. the spoken word is centered, very clear and deep to contrast the constantly building intensity of the acid patterns and thumping beats. “undone” is instrumental and has a more straight forward flow to it. it’s quite simple although the shifting groove patterns might surprise some. i was torn between two different acid patterns and decided to drop one of them as a surprise change. playing the track in clubs i quickly learned that the change of dynamics had a great effect. both tracks have been wrapped in dark-themed chords and atmosphere. both tracks have my take on the sound i fell in love with years ago and obviously still love today. i hope you like what you hear.

jammin unit is not only my brother but one of the most prolific producer of electronic music since the early days of techno. he is one half of legendary electronic super group air liquide and made his way into history books with tracks like -if the was no gravity- and -revelation- lately featured on nina kraviz - fabric 91 mix.

scott gilmore returns to international feel with another day. following on from his mini-masterpiece last year, the la musician confidently delivers four new tracks. combining elements of 70s underground psychedelia, kosmische, and library music his music? has the distinct air of something you might find in a dusty corner of someones garage (pitchfork).

shir khan welcomes zoo brazil to his infamous black jukebox disco house series. lately, the swedish producer released tracks on hot since 82 s knee deep in sound, nic fanciullis saved records and with more music to come on sasha s last night on earth and joris voorn s green label. for black jukebox john went all disco - think something like soundstream on ecstasy - hyperactive loops & grooves. pure locked in dancefloor moments !

next stop for echovolt s regular catalog is two post-summer tear-jerker workouts by this great polish duo! earth trax & newborn jr. started their collaboration in 2016 with a release on rhythm section from peckham, london. their new offering follows the same principles - ecstatic and slightly nostalgic. a side (bailando) utilizes famous solid/lately bass sound with a modern twist and features additional work by annjet who layered lush pads on top of it. b side (aquamarine) is a hypnotic uptempo workout with sparkling keys, sizzling hihats and a powerful bass line.

peter croce has been making some noise lately with his rocksteady disco party and record label, and here he brings his burgeoning rework sensibilities to rnt with a varied pack of revisions straight from detroit! on the ecstatic uptempo face-melting tip, we have spirit dance and get up and boogie, either of which are sure to burn down any disco. then there s the hard-working, grown-ass groove of proletariat blues, and made in china, a beautiful slow-burner for those early evening spins or late-night comedowns.

pascal garnier aka krewcial is a belgian beat maker turned mc turned producer turned dj. he s been dropping soulful music on labels like bbe, pias, we play house and lumberjacks in hell since he began in the early 90s. lately he s been focusing on more disco(ish) sounds and on this first ep on gamm, krewcial goes all over the place with a wide range of disco inspired edits. you get everything from vocal nyc disco, jazz-funk disco, philly disco and beautiful mid tempo groover...all very soulful of course! proper dj action with some real nice artwork by our in house maestro designer michal rafaj.

in a new transatlantic partnership, uk label secret reels and washington, dc imprint better listen records have teamed up for a run of collaborative records. the joint brand, secret listen, combines the labels in sound as well as in name. imagine the lush, pensive and moody deep house tones of secret reels joining with the sample-heavy disco soul leanings of blr. secret listen vol. 1 takes two artists each from both rosters for the first amalgamation. the -secret side- hosting english producers harry wolfman and chocky, while the listen side invites sune and vitamin d of high hat appreciation society and the newly founded honey butter records to the affair. it s a v/a release with a variety of offerings and flavours. wolfmans floozy sits first in the record as a bright and whimsical flute-led morsel, while chockys inner disco is a cerebral, loopy cut. on the flip, sune provides some exquisite rhodes action in his groovy midtempo effort, glidin, and his swedish compatriot closes out the affair with the bittersweet lately.
