thom sonny green, seines zeichens schlagzeuger bei den britischen indierockern alt-j, stellt mit seinem solodebüt “high anxiety” nun auch fundierte songschreiber-, produzenten- und visual artist-qualitäten unter beweis. wo bei alt-j körperliche kraft und ausdauer gefragt sind, zeigt sich dieses projekt eher von seiner intellektuellen, esoterischen und doch bescheidenen seite. die einflüsse auf “high anxiety” waren vielfältig: von clams casino über deftones bis arca und radiohead. entsprechend experimentell und verspielt, jedoch gleichermaßen durchdacht präsentieren sich die 21 songs, begleitet von 21 videos, die die stimmung des albums widerspiegeln und verdichten. thom, für den kunst und musik die welt erst begreifbar macht und mit sinn erfüllt, veröffentlicht das album auf seinem eigenen label sudden in partnerschaft mit infectious music. sudden soll nicht nur “high anxiety” ein zuhause geben, sondern auch anderen künstlern die möglichkeit bieten, sich mit ihrer musik kreativ einzubringen.

bisher nur in limitierter auflage in uk erhältlich, gibt es ab dem 19.02. auch eine kleine, exklusive auflage der aktuellen doppel-7“ von leftfield.
die doppel-7” kommt im gatefold sleeve daher und beinhaltet „head and shoulders“ im remix von mungo’s hi fi, einem in glasgow ansässigen reggae soundkollektiv, die den song in eine dancehall nummer verwandeln. auf der b-seite findet sich eine instrumental version der single. die zweite 7” wartet mit zwei remixes des tracks “little fish” (feat. polica’s channy leaneagh) auf: der erste mix stammt vom bass-techno duo dense & pika, auf der b-seite gibt es dann einen leckerbissen von thom green (alt-j), der eine etwas abstraktere bearbeitung des songs liefert.

zwanzig jahre nach ihrem legendären debütalbum *leftism* melden sich die elektro-ikonen leftfield zurück: am 05.06.2015 erscheint mit *alternative light source* das neue album via infectious music. auf dem werk finden sich namhafte kollaborationen mit künstlern wie channy leaneagh (poliça), ofei, tunde adebimpe (tv on the radio) und sleaford mods. das neue material ist im kern eindeutig leftfield und schafft es dennoch, durch und durch modern zu klingen. das doppel-vinyl erscheint im klappcover, downloadcode inklusive.
