nice price deal !!! fresh from a big 2010 that saw corrosion become many peoples candidate for album of the year, and a follow up 12inch with remixes from autechre and the black dog that brought even greater attention to the project, the next job for anodyne (colin cloughley) is to now release what is bizarrely his debut solo 12inch. while corrosion showed colins love for early black dog and warp records, this ep starts off with the more growling intent of destruction - a thundering techno/dubstep hybrid that brings together the rawest elements of both genres, punctuated by suitably eerie undertones and venomous bass-heavy snarl - a true club monster if ever there was one. a2 is a straight hitting acid/hoover attack that descends into all sorts of chaos - reminiscent of the power of polygon window coupled with the madness of spiral tribe, this is a track that quickly brings things into disrepute. on the b-side menace 808 revisits the electro/breakbeat rave sound with all sorts of twists and turns that eventually drops into a pure unashamed hands in the air breakdown, one for the fields and festivals this summer? you know it is. closing with the pacy, glitched up breaks of talon, anodyne proves once again that when it comes to haunting yet majestically uplifting dancefloor music, there are few better in the game.

„umwelt’s 12inch “… city” from 1999 was one of the most impressive 12inches i had at that time and i played the shit out of it. it was dark and very emotional, it was abstract but also driving at the same time. this was 1999 though, before discogs and before facebook and all the other platforms people have now to do research on artists they like and follow their work. at that time it was the record shop – and that was it. nobody knew this guy though, and i didn’t get my hands on any of the following releases, so in my world there was no follow-up to this record ever and i thought it would remain a one-off gem in my record box. until by some coincident i recently discovered he was still around and had actually released numerous releases in the meantime. i was very excited and contacted him straight away and ended up booking him for krake festival in the same year. undoubtedly his set was one of the best of the whole festival! he took the roof off the place with his mix of raw electro, industrial and rave and everybody was talking about it afterwards, saying it was the highlight of the festival! talking to him i learnt, that most of the tracks he played were his own, mostly unreleased. he produces without computers, all his tracks are single takes, there is no editing, no mixing afterwards, he only has a stereo track recording which is what it is. he owns a cutting machine which he uses to cut dubplates from his tracks, which he then plays out during his sets. this whole information about this very unique artistic approach just killed it for me, and since working with him was so nice as well, i asked him for a demo for killekill and its labels and was hoping for tracks i could make a great 12&#8243,, of. i got 14 tracks and after weeks of trying to pick the best, i finally realized i held one of the best electro albums ever in my hand – banging beats and the balls to go big and epic, subtle melodies, drama, funk – this album has got it all, and what’s most important, the music on it is the exact opposite of so much other music nowadays: it is emotional, it tells a story, it is easily recognizable and it is not interchangeable. it’s just umwelt.“ nico deuster

with his new release the polish transatlantyk sails into - as yet uncharted - waters of the lol- fi breakbeat house scene to bring you the debut of dj stoner dad. not much is known about the man behind the nickname, except that he is a dj, a dad and that he likes getting his hits from the bong on during the infamously long warsaw afterparties. the -raw romantics ep- showcases his own take on the deeply saturated, smokey and breakbeat-infused house genre. fake strings is a certified banger alluring the dancefloor with a great combo of rolling bass, squashed kicks and hats, grimy, atmospheric pads and a bits of spoken word thrown in. magic phunk brings that break again and for a good measure. drums are floating over an ocean worth of blazing pads, liquid synths, acid riffs, pillowy, yet dirty chords and whatever else dj stoner dad could lay his hands on at the time. iv is a full frontal ambient jam, with little bits of wandering drums coming into the picture at the very end. finally v brings cinematic influences over slightly uneasy slow groove.

3 overlooked jams on one 12inch single, excavated from the deepest realms of the tk disco vaults. remastered, represented and brought back into focus for 2017s dj bags and dance-floors. side a sees wizzdom s 1980 boogie jam free bass kicking off proceedings. a p-funk-ish, low slung jam indeed, it has everything you d want including some furious five esque shouts of free-bass! weaving in and out of the mix. this one is a true heads cut, one for the diggers! over on side b we get jimmy bo horne s slamming is it in? - a stomping piece of disco-funk that in the right hands will cause maximum damage. also, jimmy s mildly double-entendre lyrics are hugely entertaining! following up we have a cut from herman kelly & life, a refreshing love was an lp only release and is some serious downtempo latin tinged soul super soaked in miami sunshine! all in all, 3 majorly overlooked gems nestled away in the tk archive now brought back into the light. as usual, these tk represses are always done in the proper manner. 100% legit re-edits, from the archive, remastered and released in conjunction with henry stone music / tk disco - miami fl.

arvid whetman has plenty going for him at the moment. as sexazoid he s dropping all kinds of off-kilter machine beats on excellent labels like born free, while as your planet is next he builds on appearances on junk yard connections, waving hands, opal tapes, studio barnhus and klasse to deliver this chirpy four-tracker to acid waxa. from the twee vocals to the playful synths and straight up drums, this is club music crafted for an immediate hit. whetman makes this approach work magnificently though, liberally applying his musical personality to lo-fi deep house and roughshod acid, with heartbreaker being a firm favourite thanks to its fulsome 303 bassline and hooky vocal mantras.

dj raw sugar is a native of berlin, but has done a 6 year stint in new zealand and now resides in perth. his productions are deep and raw house beats mixed with jazz, boogie, disco, funk and soul. over the years he has put out music via other people s labels like gazeebo international, midnight riot and ism, but is now taking matters into his own hands via love sexy records - a label he has just started. the debut release kicks off with a piece from the man himself! it s a sweet and sultry slice of disco. inkswel, also australian based, takes up remix duty taking the track in a more club-ready direction. slow goodness all over!

bruno pronsato returns with his first new artist album in 6 years. entitled us drag, it’s the follow-up to 2011’s critically acclaimed lovers do— lauded by pitchfork as a “striking and massive statement,” and decorated with a 4.5/5 rating by resident advisor. the new record, which finds the ex-punk rock drummer exploring dense, interlocking rhythms and unorthodox tuning systems, was recorded in berlin during the second half of 2016, and features a collaboration with liars’ frontman angus andrew. after the vast, complex arrangements of his previous albums, the 9 recordings on us drag are relatively more upfront and direct, with a particular focus on bells, tuned percussion and the sequential circuits six-trak synthesizer (used to create many of the album’s synth parts). pronsato’s ongoing collaboration with yonatan levi continues, with the israeli bassist appearing on the album’s second track

secretsundaze are proud to announce the second 12 in the dance 2017 series. the ep is once again a 3 tracker this time featuring the highly-promising emerging talents of dj slyngshot, bastien carrara and jayson wynters. dj slyngshot hailing from offenbach near frankfurt has had tongues wagging with three hot 12s on his own imprint yappin records and received club and radio play by the likes of omar s, floating points, ben ufo and jon rust. his contribution to the a side of dance 2017 part 2 sees him on fine form with the devastating rhythm of hygh-tech . kicking off with a rough and ready groove the hook is a gnarly nagging synth line that will worm its way into your brain. add a sampled wailing diva and some more jazzy interludes and you have a festival-ready high grade bomb on your hands! on the flip steps up france s bastien carrara. his dusty jams on the likes of rawthenticity and funkineven s apron imprint caught our attention and we roped him in for a track. here he presents the charming, breezy and breaky that time again . warm, atmospheric and groovy this is definitely one for long summer nights ahead. last up jayson wynters represents the uk! jayson made his debut on none other than mr g s phoenix g. imprint with the sub-aquatic unfamiliar territories ep. he is an amazing dj and selector able to play house / techno sets and also jazz, boogie, disco and funk sets where required at the likes of brilliant corners. chi kung is a bubbling, mystical percussive number with hand played drums and a perfect closer to the ep.

it’s no exaggeration to say that geraldo pino and his band the heartbeats kickstarted the whole soul/funk/afrobeat scene in west africa. mixing highlife, funk and jazz, and using the latest equipment, they laid waste to all before them. in 1966 fela kuti was a jobbing musician, eeking out a living with highlife bands. when gerlado pino came to town, it changed his life.
“pino tore up the scene,” he recalls in an interview with carlos moore. “i knew i had to get my shit together. and fast!”

we hit you with the second single from jimpsters acclaimedsilent stars lp loaded with the good stuff! the album has received much love from djs and critics alike and its clear that after 25 years in the business jamie odell retains his reputation as one of the most talented and consistent electronic artists in the uk. as a&r and dj he also boasts a fine ear for emerging talent and here he hands over the reigns to two hotly tipped producers to rework his originals. first up we have the incredible peggy gou who takes on the sun comes up ft. jinadu.her speedy rise through the ranks over the past 12 months has been down to just a handful of brilliant eps on rekids and phonica and her skills as a club dj. the berlin based korean sits somewhere between detroit, london and berlin in sound and her dj sets are an assured, kinetic combination of dark, pulsing house and techno, broken beats and abstract compositions. her influences shine through on her remix which goes deep and musical whilst retaining an energetic drive for the dancefloor. perhaps the most mesmerizing, floor-focused track from the lp is up next, silent stars. an electronic tribal dance which builds to a speaker-wobbling sub-bass breakdown and wonderful chord section at the climax. next, a remix from west coast native urulu who came to jimpsters attention through his releases on lets play house, dirt crew and his own amadeus label. trying to describe his remix of where you areft. khalil anthony is no easy task, fusing elements of techno, broken beat and afro house, but check it out and if you can think of a suitable new sub genre to pigeonhole it with, let us know. closing the release we have the slow-burning, balearic-tinged beauty known as the sun comes up featuring jinadu on vocals. this is one to drop in the warm after-glow of a crazy night under the stars when tired legs and happy hearts crave a soulful groove to give them one last lift.
