shaddock 09 – people like me – comes courtesy of boost riders, alias of a well known hip hop producer from madrid. they deliver a classy and catchy latin freestyle tune featuring a prominent voice sample. -people like me- has been lying in our drawer for some time, it is a personal favourite and this track is the reason why shaddock records was founded. finally the time for its release is here – backed on the b-side by a mind-blowing and much darker electro/industrial remix by dj stingray.

people must jam s ninth record is from one of our favourite djs and producers. a guy who has a ridiculously large back catalogue and in our opinion it is a crime that some of his records haven t received bigger recognition. a true master of house and hip hop music, kid sublime has been putting out amazing records since 2001. his own label dopeness galore literally does exactly what it says on the tin. even before we launched people must jam s label we wanted kid sublime to be a part of it. now finally we are stoked to present this ep... four serious cuts for four different vibed floors - look out! first up kid s homage to techno legend ben sims with bang like sims a driving deep techno groove. strong percussion, deep stabs and that unrelenting beat are going to ensure this one gets some love on the harder edged, heavier dance floors. we the people heads a little down the tribal route with some afro inspired percussion, haunting samples and that kalimba! dropping a really infectious riff before beautiful piano melodies drift in and out of the mix. wonderful stuff. the title track i like em dirty , we feel, is a lesson in proper deep house. classic sounding house beats, little guitar licks, deep stabs and the vocal sample combine for this perfect house cut. massive. the ep is rounded out with another cut in tribute to the legend that was kenny hawkes. another master of his craft - kenny sadly now passed on but his spirit is well and truly alive in this fitting tribute. one 4 kenny features strong percussion, low bass, deep stabs and slamming beats = cracking stuff

hijacked records detroit is feeling inspired after hearing new work from one of our favourite allies in techno, jules wells. we felt it was our duty to deliver this to the people, three new productions from jules with a guest remix from our own antwon faulkner. please enjoy - -silent orchestra.- the title track from jules really set the bar for this release. jules really understands story telling with music and this track transports you to a time in techno that was both hopeful and beautifully heart breaking. a persistent chord progression is wrapped in celestial synth harmonies filing up the space all around you and reaching in. that classic clap is underpinned with a touch of acid, creating an edge. at the 4:33 mark an enchanting and haunting sign wave tells a melodic tragedy. strings come in delicately but wash over you completely. this track is both stunning and devastating.

2nd ep from david kitts new jackson yous lp released in march this year a mini lp of sorts featuring 5 new tracks! according to david: like lightning was written after a late night/early morning adventure with friends in galway city a good few years ago now. i always find it hard to choose singles but this seemed to be lot of people s favourite album track. i ve availed of every last second of space on the 10 inch to turn this release into a mini-album of sorts with three quite different instrumentals one part folk, one part modular electronic and one recorded using two buddah boxes in the glasgow underground. there are also two unreleased songs that have knocking around the hard drive for a while but fit nicely on this release.

jonny drops debut, sub plot, was the very first album release on the fledgling alberts favourites label at the beginning of 2016. the initial offering, a 7inch of album favourites mind field and this is the one had quickly been picked up on by the good people at bbc radio 6 music as well as some of drops personal heroes including kenny dope, mr. thing and nightmares on wax.

after previously releasing starship commander woooo woooos mastership lp, left ear records have continued excavating the archives of the artist more formally known as omer coleman jr. the result is two handpicked mid 80’s instrumentals salvaged from the original master tapes, as well as an extended vocal edit on the flip for good measure. after laying his alter ego to rest omer made a handful of electronic releases on his own kansas based remo label. of these releases left ear has selected their two favourite instrumentals: lovin babe sure is fun and so good. lovin babe sure is fun was originally released in 85 and was created to celebrate a time in america where the economy was good, people were happy and love was in the air, the essence of which omer captured using his roland 808 and 303 in what may best be described as acid-boogie. so good on the other hand is a sensual downtempo cut shaped with heavy-bass, telephone samples and guitar solos that conjures images of late night rendezvous and compromising scenarios.

next up is berlin s christopher rau with his -f.m.e. hustle- long player. the long time firm favourite delivers 11 tracks full of hiss and soul. from driven dub techno to cool house and ambient excursions rau travels far without loosing the interrelation.

following some now cult releases on mutli culti, turbo recordings (with the much-acclaimed “mz”) and his recent lp “lotos land” on japanese imprint endless flight, our favourite east-berlin born child sascha funke is finally coming up with an ep on hippie dance’s sister label your and your hippie friends. “i guess more than one of you have noticed my obsession with sascha funke’s music over the past years since it is an essential part in my dj sets. after the pause he gave his solo work to put his attention into his amazing band project saschienne together with julienne dessagne (aka fantastic twins, also his partner in life), he came back with a really cool ep on kompakt records which i played over and over and left me wanting for more. being close friends gave me the luxury of having access to his material before other people and when i would visit the coolest couple in berlin, sascha would always play me his new tunes in the car while rolling through the city. every time i would ask for those tracks to play them and in the club, people that i would play with would often ask who was behind them, as it happened with tiga one night in cologne, and eventually led to sascha’s music being released on turbo recordings and multi culti the following months. now i finally got the chance and honour to release a sascha funke ep on our own humble label... acatenango. like every time, it all started with me visiting berlin, sascha playing his new material while cruising around on board of his german car, me getting in trance while listening to it, asking for it and playing it right away in my next sets. three super cool tracks, all very different from each other but somehow connected with the inimitable funke touch. powerful yet elegant, hypnotic yet fun, brutal yet sophisticated. sascha funke... he’s a hippie and he’s a friend.” rebolledo

lillygood party! is a label focused on licencing tracks that alex and stephane play for years at their parties. the aim is to re-edit and revisit those jams from soul to house , jazz to afro, boogie to techno and make us and people enjoy and smile on the dancefloor because those tunes are really really good both tracks here are classics dancefloors tunes, nothing rare, just favourite tunes that alex and stéphane play in their sets. on the a side the onwards international version is longer than the original and the arrangement quiet different for more intense dancefloor action. here they both worked on the edit to find the right balance and the right sound in order to revisit the uk classic jazz funk number, a firm favourite here lillygood! the b side is an amazing disco modern soul gospel track from elbernita twinkie clark already reissued some time ago but the cherry on the cake is that you have here a 12inch version extended and a new mastering for extra loud play this version is slightly different than the original, alex extended parts: the beginning with drum intro looped for mixing and changed the end to make it longer keeping the original flavour. please enjoy as much as we do because we love those edits, we love those tunes, we love music we are very happy to share with you these limited vinyls releases

edmondson first came to my attention with his lobster theramin distributed release, flamingo tripper, on his own label lissoms. or so i thought. turns out he was actually a guy who used to serve me in one of my favourite pubs in newcastle. back in those days he was a dub step / drum and bass kid, and as per the trend with all of those guys, hes now showing the house heads how its done, with a much keener feel for sound design, groove and a better ear for a sample than 90% of us lazy people who cut our teeth on a 4/4 beat. edmondson (or sean as i did know him and how i know him once again) is really one of the most exciting producers out there right now for me, and i couldnt be happier that weve reconnected and hes kindly allowed me me me to present some of his amazing music. we have love is an instant classic, and psg is a work of pure emotive art. to remix we have love, ive enlisted dauwd (fresh from his amazing album on technicolour). sean suggested him, and i jumped on the suggestion as he was one of the first people i met when i moved to berlin 4 years ago, and ive been trying to figure out a way of working with him since. he takes a we have love down a kind of more delicate and steppy route. its very pretty, but also really makes you want to dance. to remix psg i asked asok. again, i thought i first met asok about 7 or 8 years ago, when he came and played for a party i used to throw in newcastle. after becoming good friends over the years, we got chatting and it turned out that we were both in magaluf in 1998, and may have actually been involved in the same street brawl. thats not something either of us are proud of, but its definitely food for thought. i’m biased, but i think his remix is my favourite thing he’s ever done, and i love everything he’s touched musically to date, so thats probably an even bigger endorsement than it first seems. his version is big.

copenhagens music for dreams comes with yet another strong release - a double album of personal favourites compiled by jan schulte. according to all maps and witness accounts, germany does not officially have any tropical forests. this is of no concern to schulte however, who has unearthed many stunning examples of tropical drum music recorded there. perhaps the number of botanical gardens and palm houses in germany confused musicians into mistaking the climate, or maybe it was just a happy blend of escapism and multi-cultural integration within musical scenes that spawned such a curious output of undefinable tribal folk jazz. most of the tracks picked by schulte were released on small labels in the late 80 s. the musicians involved were mainly traditionally schooled, born and raised in germany. at that time to be interested in foreign folk music might have seemed a gimmick to some, what with the emerging -world music boom- already snowballing into the mainstream. but these songs, while they may be based on musical traditions from foreign lands, deal much more with introspection than exploitation. schulte himself points to his -general fascination for music that describes places where the artists have never been. songs about the jungle or the rainforest made by people that know the rainforest only from television and books. somehow i think you can hear their mythical imagination and fantasy in those tracks,- he explains....

the debut homemade weapons lp ‘negative space’ is still fresh in peoples playlists after a unanimously acclaimed release, and has gone on to be used as a benchmark for d&b lp’s that exist on the edges of the music’s periphery. combining function and form with equal emphasis, negative space is an lp full of tracks that dj’s play in clubs as opposed to being largely relegated to online mixes. to follow on from the lp, we selected 3 samurai artists to rebuild their favourite tracks from negative space and have combined this with a tidal track vip from homemade weapons made initially for his dj sets. ancestral voices, the untouchables, and sam kdc all turn in unique interpretations.

loft classics volume ii. a compilation 12 inspired by david mancuso and his new york loft parties, where he played a broad variety of music, and inspired people like larry levan and frankie knuckles and countless others...>street life< features vocals by randy crawford. this track is a favourite of theo parrish

voilaaa is one of the many projects led and produced by bruno patchworks hovart. . this time exploring the wide spectrum of the african and tropical disco scene, he received a massive international support for voilaaa s first album, on te l avait dit, released late 2015 on favorite recordings. following the success of on te l avait dit, and pursuing the same direction combining the festive, yet sometime futile nature of disco, and the instinctive, deep, sometimes rough nature of african music, voilaaa s now presenting its 2nd effort, des promesses.

an incredible, funked-out live show and production team with their own modern take on boogie, philly soul, and ny disco. xlr8r the possé are a new face to many people. the five piece run by andrew elston and ross ferraro is comprised of veterans from all over australia’s music scene. after a year of knuckling down in the studio and a string of sold out shows they’ve boiled down their favourite influences into an in-credible, raw, funked out live show and production team. watch out for the posse’s debut ep, our thing, featuring contributions from andrew elston (phy-sique/toni toni lee/catcall), ross ferraro & jarrol renaud (the goods), michael di francesco (touch sensitive/van she) and nz jazz keys prodigy andrew bruce.

invaderband are a garage/artrock band assembled in 2012 in derry, northern ireland by mancunian singer, guitarist and songwriter adam leonard who enlisted local musicians to voltage-enhance his dystopian post-punk songs.
leonard has a prolific history as a musician with an extensive back catalogue of solo and collaborative work, and was an occasional member of one of stewart lee’s favourite bands, the owl service. he was also the winner of the uk city of culture 2013 resonate award for best song. invaderband’s lead guitarist / synthmeister is chris mcconaghy aka our krypton son. bass frequencies are provided by gavin mccartney (of here comes the landed gentry, the murder balladers) and drums are handled by rion mccartney (on the album) and john goodman (live).
invaderband’s debut single the implausible man was issued on record store day 2015 and the follow-up, attack of the pod people arrived in december ‘15. the singles were picked up by local, regional and national bbc radio, with the latter making it onto the bbc 6music recommended playlist.

since 1987, frak have been everyone s favourite, premier swedish synthesizer-touching weirdos. even if most people hadn t heard of them until 4 years ago. and yet, world of frak is as long as it is wide. as blue as it is black. as ominous as it is glorious. as dirty as it is hairdryer. sweet it is as yellow paper as. all of the above is a perfect example of how trying to convey what frak is in the crass form of words is ultimately fruitless. here is a double 12inch vinyl product from ultimate hits featuring eight audio recordings from frak: three men who have known each other since at least 1987. the sleeve was lovingly hand screen-printed at the studio of house of traps, and features the colours commonly known as pink and black.

the people behind the amazing mareh festival in brasil (the southern hemisphere s answer to electric elephant), drop yet more top drawer music as their label journey continues to gain strength. set in the lush settings of bahia where day blends into night and sun into moon, mareh continues to attract some first class artists from around the world to release on their imprint. the second release kicks off with glasgow based production wizard the revenge letting loose a late night groove that takes a blissful string sample and then works it for the dance floor. it s top stuff from the man with the roaring grooves. and rumours have it that the revenge himself will be headlining at this year s legendary nye event in bahia alongside tim sweeney, pete herbert & dicky trisco. next up is berlin based disco and house aficionado eddie c who drops an uber cool, cut up disco chugger that is likely to work your sunset and early morning sets to the max. mareh favourite pete herbert then steps up to the controls and delivers an upbeat, balearic dance floor banger that hits all the right notes and then hits them again. you can almost smell the hierbas on this one! last but not least, tokyo based englishman max essa delivers an electronic ode to late night dancing and early morning dips as he joins the dots between the tokyo underground and the fresh bahian surf. wonderful stuff. so mareh really are out to pull in a truly global sound to their label outing with glasgow, berlin, london, ibiza and tokyo all represented as well as their spiritual homelands sao paulo, and of course the place where it all happens each new year... bahia.

dont be afraid present spargel trax, a two part series of vinyl-only, coloured, hand-stamped 12 inches designed to celebrate the dual themes of great seasonal music and great seasonal spargel. contributing tracks across the two 12 inchess are some of our favourite artists currently making house music. from established artists like disco nihilist, andy blake, sound species and james duncan to up and coming artists like david joseph from cologne, hodge from bristol, untitled-w from st. petersburg, for whom this is the first outing on wax, and scott fraser from glasgow. no clues though as to which is which, you?ll have to just listen to the tracks and hear for yourself! proof that 2012 is a great time for music, a great time for wax and a great time for spargel. spargel is very popular in the netherlands, spain, france, belgium, germany, and switzerland, and almost exclusively white. else, it is specified by the local language term for green asparagus. compared to the latter, the locally cultivated so-called white gold or edible ivory, also referred to as the royal vegetable, is less bitter and much more tender. freshness is highly regarded, and it must be peeled before cooking or raw consumption.

the golden gate ep is dedicated to powder & louders favourite club: the golden gate in berlin. the infamous golden gate is well known at berlins party people and rumoured to be opened the whole weekend long. the chosen two, who are golden gate residents at the fish n slips night, created the zeit ist gate anthem in their unique style. next up is der e-kreisel, owner of spoiler music and great live performer. his funked up welcome to golden gate is a nice peak time roller and will heat up any frozen dance floor around. funkenstroem from symbionten/symbiont-music comes with a deep tech house version of der e-kreisel’s welcome to golden gate song. the symbioten are well known in berlin’s nightlife for hosting great nights (and mornings) at golden gate and releasing quality underground music!

nile delta is dancefloor wizard joel dickson, former member of riot in belgium and current member of cutters dynamic-duo, voltage. having spent the past year neck-deep in other peoples music – it was only a matter of time before this, nile deltas debut ep emerged, shimmering, from the water. channel sounds like a late 70s house party. except the house is actually a warehouse and the late 70s are actually the early 90s. an almost paradoxical blend of filtered piano stabs, party whistles, endless delays, a squelching acid lead, horns, bendy-breakdowns, you name it. channel sounds like moodymann at his rawkus best. no party will be complete without this house gem. all this on the flip, sees cut copy bassist ben browning provide an otherworldly vocal hook over nile deltas inescapable rhythm. and the crawling baseline will have your hips doing obscene things. guaranteed. remixes include longtime favourites chicken lips, who take their invincible track record on an italian holiday – and tornado wallace who takes us deep, deep into the night.

lil tony is hotter than hot. while starting to dj and produce years ago, tony has been a staple in the scandinavian club scene since the early 90s. an amazing dj (actually one of the favourites around the moodmusic hq) and a talented producer, tony started with the fbi project with roberto rodriguez and kimmo oksanen before dropping some serious damage on raw trax vol. 1 last year on moodmusic. caned by everyone from luciano (he edited his own version of semble) to dj hell, tonys raw grooves cut the crap and moved people when other producers had to take a leak. hardworking, never forgetting his gentleman manners, tony is here to stay and raw trax vol. 2 is a bold new statement, and his best work to date. solid state takes the classic detroit influenced drum machine vs piano theme a step forward, a impeccable jam of 15 minutes with the beat keeping the pace, this has been roadproofed the last 6 months to good effect. the b-side karamba is a dry, tight driven tech-workout, perfect mixtool for the deeper techno as well as housier sets. it just works well. the closing checkpoint charlie is a tale of >lost in helsinki< – dark mean bass wanders around and gives space for the chuggin main line, monotonic body music at its best.

new kanada enters the year of darkness with two cuts of techno that go straight for the throat. raw house music for mixers, jackers, and people of ill repute everywhere. side a features a slamming remix of murr’s “stay” track by adam marshall. murr’s original moog bassline gets jacked into a dj-friendly mix weapon of the highest calibre. 10+ minutes of erratic hats, swung snares and some weird noises that would do octave one proud. sibe b is a homage to our favourite analog mixer of days gone by - the numark dm1950. mood edit embraces the chaos of chicago house, and the class of new york city in this long playing dub tool that will be sure to evoke fear in the legs - and passion somewhere inbetween. complete with off kilter bassline, counterpoint bump, and a long deep mix for the heads.

alex krueger is ready for his next strike on dirt crew rec. the follow up to his excellent <push the patton< single is an absolute minimal killer, 3 quality tracks here and a different side of tigerskin for each taste. all tracks were produced with analogue equipment only which has become pretty rare these days ! the title track is a warm and reduced builder with an absolutely devestating guitar breakdown, people will remember this one for sure when they first hear it out on a big system. the second >wanted< is a typical tigerskin rave anthem, similar to his master hit >neontrance< this one is pure power on the dancefloor. the last track is more funky and has a great electro groove to it, this one has become a favourite in our sets over the last weeks and also features a beautiful break with great analogue sounds

hinode’ is a tribute and farewell to our favourite club, yellow in tokyo. we’ve played some great gigs there, six or seven hours in the dark with eight hundred people and one strobe light – perfection. endless saki in the bar, obligatory stalkers (“93!” and hedgehog girl step forward please), smoke and heat on the dance floor. finally emerging deafened and sun blinded into the brilliance of saturday mid-morning in tokyo… backing up the original is an exceptional remix from our favourite techno genius - fergie.

the kazey & bulldog picture disc is followed by the first d2s release from our hero rod lee - a baltimore legend in his own right and in our eyes the no. 1 club producer, bar none. this super aggro dude has serious issues. he just needs to open his mouth and kids cry flames. for his first d2s release, rod commits re-mastered versions of two of our favourite cuts produced by the man. we first heard >understand< when we scored a bunch of scottie bs ebay auctions, and to this day its one of the best baltimore tracks ive ever heard. you can play this sh*t anywhere and the crowd just freaks out. hip hop heads love it, techno heads love it, even your girlfriend loves it. we coupled it with rods simple but ultra effective remix of the eurythmics classic, >sweet dreams<. when the catch an attitude tour dropped in on our club in glasgow, a-trak dropped this beast for all of 30 seconds and people went nuts. bannanas even. you could argue that the eurythmics remix thing is overdone and outdated, but if you did so, wed know for sure you hadnt heard rods version. anyway... we tracked it down and got it on the flip, so really this is more like a double a. both cuts are re-mastered (but still raw like the day they were made) and cut loud on heavy 12inch vinyl

bugz in the attic release the second single from the inspired debut album back in the dog house,a live favourite and deftly handled cover of yarborough and peoples 1980 bassline heavy dont stop the music. bugz, pioneers of deep and dirty dance music, brought a brimming confidence along with the experimentation of their debut, which glistens with stone cold funk, boogie and disco but remains resolutely contemporary thanks to their immersion in club culture and the broad pool of guest vocal talents at their disposal. for dont stop the music former basement jaxx collaborator sharlene hector was given the task of re doing a bugz favourite, and the result is an out and out west london bruk up twist that takes the basslines from p funk, the soul of the original and a certain pirate radio grit and delivers the very essence of bugz.

we are so excited to present to the world the 3rd and final instalment in danny tenaglia’s gu trilogy, danny’s mixes have been a huge part of our dna for many years, with his seminal athens and london mixes forming the part of many people’s favourite dj mixes of all time, brooklyn is a stunning addition to that heritage and we can’t wait to release this album to the world.
