after carlos nilmmns enthralled us with his expressive true chemistry ep, circus company is delighted to welcome a new character into the fold in the form of fast-rising german artist borrowed identity. based in the southern town of freiburg im breisgau, in just a few years he has already released scores of singles for labels as respected as quintessentials, fina, home taping is killing music and mistress. the borrowed identity sound is direct and uncomplicated, using classic house and techno styles and applying them to dynamic arrangements that showcase a confident set of studio skills and a deep understanding of what excites the expectant dancer.

what more can be said about carl cox the term legend is thrown about way too easily in electronic music, but there is no question about the status of dance music historys most recognisable global figure. a musical ambassador, a veteran of acid house, a champion of techno and a professional dj since his early teens. carl has been playing music, breaking tunes and celebrating life and never losing sight of his passions for over 30 years.

still riding high on the support for his recent circus collab with ki creighton, new uk talent kydus immediately returns to the label with a brace of new tracks that have already become proven weapons in the sets of label yousef and the mighty carl cox. his latest double-header sees him turn out more fierce grooves and raw funk with a large helping of sun-fuelled piano for good measure. free spirit is captivating from the first drum to the last. a rolling groove, almost house, almost techno. a poignant story told that surrounds the listener with uncompromising positive energy, a huge summer moment if there ever was one. yousef has been nurturing the demo for almost six months, building it from a secret weapon to circus anthem.

steve lees (the project club) above machine label returns with another superb release from acclaimed italian duo almunia their last single for am was a best-seller, and their celebrated output through paul mudd murphys claremont56 label, including the recent pulsar lp has seen the their blissful & uplifting balearic sound win over many a new follower *find my way* is a gorgeous, acoustic guitar led vocal number, conjuring up twilight beach side boogie, balmy breezes and ice cold drinks. marius circus gets to work on the b side, taking the irresistible melodies to a much later, darker dancefloor. laying a foundation of squelchy moog style bass and a toughened up rhythm track before heavily effected guitars sweep across the mix elevating the whole thing to near transcendental heights! a superb release and addition to the above machine catalogue.

alexander kowalski is someone you should know. not only is he a resident artist at our club, but with uncountable eps and several albums on heiko laux label kanzleramt and others, he has contributed more to electronic music than many others. to have a separate platform for the darker and harder productions of his, he created the alias d_func. a while ago. when he approached us with the tracks that are now on the record in hand, we immediately fell in love with the mills-like energy of them. perfect drum programming, driving synth lines two perfect tools for any proper techno set. the dirt mix of revalism which is included in the digital release package puts the original in a more modern jacket with its stompy beat – another proof of how well alexander knows what the djs need to please their crowd.let the dancefloors burn!

with *believe in love* yousef returns home to circus recordings with 3 cuts that have been turning heads all summer long. the title track features the legendary vocal of roy davis jr who once again, asks the world a poignant question. a rolling, infectious and gnarly groove develops and unfolds into a long and harmonic breakdown before a blistering crescendo. designed for the heads but with still enough action for the people that follow yousefs more musically trickier offerings.

i will never forget the many dancefloor dates my friends and i had with harry romero back in the late 90s and early naughties. nobody turned out beats like *choo choo*. cro-magnon, erectus, tania, night at the black, suck my clock, beats vol. 1 & 2, mas pito (as mongobonix), the list goes on and on… each and every one a seminal house smash, played by all and still sounding as fresh today as they did on their first spin. 2013 is the beginning of a new chapter for harry, parting ways with his long time label group subliminal, after completing a ten year deal, he is now free to release with other labels, and importantly, return directly to the beats. already forging ahead with new releases on ovum (under his vaggio alias) and sneaks i m a house gangster among others, here he makes his debut on circus recordings.

its always a treat here at circus company to be able to shed the light on a lesser known talent. after all, its a philosophy we have built the label on, but theres no denying we need to have that personal connection with the artists whose music we release.

we have been proud to watch the rise of oleg poliakov after he first joined our ranks with datcha musik way back in 2007. since first swearing allegiance to the circus, he has continued to unfurl a refined approach to house and techno that carefully balances a respectful mastery of the classic tropes of the genre with his own instinct for seductive melodic content.

c.a.v.o.k. calls out our beloved oleg poliakov on his first release for us for 2013. its a good sign, that the skies are clear and we can carry forth on our musical mission unhindered by the weather. with an album looming on the horizon from our in-house weatherman, this ep sets us on a course across open plains towards that landmark, propelled by an infectious energy that marks a progression even for a producer as accomplished as oleg.

our west coast brother from another mother marc barrite has been a vital part of the circus company troupe since the early days of the label, due in no small part to his combination of flamboyant style and hefty funk. for all the experimental qualities in marcs music as dave aju there is an equal amount of hip hop swagger and heartfelt soul, and when you filter those elements through a house music template you get close to a perfect definition of the tastes that drive our label.

samuli kemppi played live twice at suicide circus, and since his energetic sound really fit well with our club, we started talking to each other about a release on our dark series imprint. so here we go now, after releases on labels such as prologue, mote evolver and perc trax, samuli kemppi now is ready to rock your boat with three tracks on our label, which define a very particular sound of their own. last day on earth brings samulis apocalyptic vision to the dancefloors. dark hisses, well scaped spaces and a hookline with the pull of a spacecraft make up for a track that with no doubt will be one of the techno anthems of the next months. a killer of a track! on the b-side spacing has similar sound aesthetics as last day on earth, but comes along more playful whereas calling approaches the apocalyptic theme from a very different angle. bleepy synths over a banging beat let you think of laser shots in the dark, haunting and scary.

with the cosmic rays of his twice around the sun long player still reverberating around our souls, guillaume (our favourite of all the coutu dumonts) is back with a fresh ep of rich and otherworldly house music perfectly pitched for the free-spirited feeling of the summer months

with the track *time machine*, dj and producer michael nielebock provided us with a fantastic debut on our deep circus label. his first success came for the berlin resident with the track pure visionson the treibstoff label, which entered the charts and the record cases of many international djs. his productions all are characterized by a driving groove, mixed with spherical elements, strings and synth-sounds. with *time machine* he also managed to bring this mixture to perfection in cooperation with his studio buddy leevey, thus creating a track which will make the day and caress the ears of many outdoor dancers this summer.
the second track on the ep is a wonderful remix by burak sar aka sis, who recently released his second album *confidance* on his label cocolino. the sis remix stays close to the original track, but reduces the spherical sounds and puts a greater focus on the basses, resulting in a great piece with a lot of deepness. nice!

swinging from the chandelier and setting fire to the feast, our original raison detre is back to raise merry hell and we couldnt be happier as accessories to the crime. ark was one of the biggest influences on circus company when it first formed from the freakier corners of the paris scene, and since day one he has been a guiding force in maintaining an uncompromising attitude towards house and techno in all its most flamboyant forms

divine: the immobile odyssey. for a long time before the success of noze led him to discover the rest of the world, ezechiel pailhes remained a prophet in: his country. for a long time as well, he worked on creating what became his first solo album, waiting for the right moment when he could no longer contain all the melodies that populate this 14-leg epic.

bill youngman has been around for almost 20 years with releases on legendary labels like serotonin, scandinavia and tresor. he crossed many styles from melodic electro to really, really harsh techno, but recently he seems to have found his very own personal style. the music he released on killekill in the last two years show a very singular approach to techno and electro. percussive, deep, melodic, toolish – all at the same time.

with the fractal ep, we proudly present you the first co-production of the chilean artist aldo cadiz and the spanish oscar barila on our label deep circus!
with the original tracks on the fractal ep, aldo and oscar provide us with a harmonious, groovy piece of work, merging the sounds of deep house and tech house. italian artist alex costa provided the original track with even more power in his interpretation and made it a peaktime burner. the second song menisko was remixed by raphael dincsoy and pierre deutschmann and became a dark techno track in their edit. enjoy!

as if our recent releases hadnt already been spreading the sound of circus company into new and exciting places, now our very own silver-tongued enchanter jaw emerges with the first details of his own autonomous project. somewhere in between the electronic drive of his day job in dop and the folky, organic instrumentation of les fils du calvaire, jaw shares with us a new venture that has thrust him into the studio with lebanese musician kevork keshishian.

at times painfully raw, at others wonderfully mischevious, this is the record to confirm aquarius heaven as a project that transcends the formulas of electronic music to become something that reaches beyond the dancefloor.

few people stand for a real underground approach to techno like adam x does. for over 20 years he has been right in the center of the scene. before moving to berlin he ran the sonic groove record shop in nyc for 15 years. the sonic groove label also owned by adam is still a dominating force in the scene and has released music of legends like abe duque, blake baxter, frankie bones, kevin saunderson and many more. with djing, producing music adam in recent years has received a lot of support from people like chris liebing and many others for his productions as adam x as well as for his aliases traversable wormhole, admx-71.adam’s sound is dark and heavily influenced by his passion for industrial and old school ebm music. with coercive persuasion on the a-side he combines these influences with a functionality that can only derive from his extensive touring as a dj and live act. it is a dark anthem that will destroy all real techno floors. no doubt. the b-side deprogramming sequence comes along with driving bells that give the stomping beat of the track a little uplift and therewith balances out the heavy dark side of the ep.

in the here and now of house and techno, a flux is taking place. the newest generation of souls possessed by the beat has never had a better chance to look back at the unbridled creativity and vitality of the 80s and 90s, and channel it into their contemporary creations. the gospel of youtube and a wealth of mixes with convenient tracklists make it easy for the lazy artist to absorb what was great before and reflect it in their contemporary productions. this of course is of no concern for someone like franck roger
