having remixed depeche mode and dj hell as well as releasing a new fixmer/mccarthy single with douglas mccarthy (of nitzer ebb), 2017 has already proven to be a productive year for terence fixmer. with the new force ep, the berghain resident follows up on 2016 s beneath the skin ep (o-ton 97), offering four stylistically different but congenial techno scenarios for club use. the record s eponymous track on a1 doesn t think twice: the initial signal horn starts as sudden as the staggered kick drum rhythm, reoccurring throughout the cut s 6-minute playtime while sustained and oppressive screams from a synth, extra multifaceted ebm percussion and synth drones add to the overall sombre atmosphere of ôforceö. the musical vibe distinctly changes with ôsidewalkö which puts more focus on synth melodies û like its predecessor a techno cut per se, but with a stronger accent on hypnotic motifs. on b1 ômelting planetsö emphasises the kick: clocking in slightly slower than the other three tracks û at 122 bpm û the bass drum here sounds extra vivid, ever-present and spot-on, just as if terence was playing the drum kit sitting right next to you. with additional percussion and swirling melodies ômelting planetsö is a lulling, mesmerizing meditation in dub techno. ôstriking patternsö on b2 links to the best moments of force ep s a-side, combining bone-dry bass drum hits and distinctive brazen, banging noises, pulsing synths pads and sizzling surface sounds.

theo conard, also known as paxton fettel delivers his second lp on greta cottage workshop. entirely produced by mr fettel its an exemplary mix of predominantly instrumental contemporary jazz funk, sometimes featuring the vocal talents of one olivia lincoln.. from the very beginning it is totally and utterly heartfelt - until the floor churning and brazenly life affirming end his emotions are worn firmly on his sleeve. its a serious embodiment of proper fusion and a testament to a phenomenal producer progressively pushing his work in a playful, honest, admirable and honourable way whilst not taking himself too seriously!

ostgut ton reissues the final zehn of zehn with original tracks by etapp kyle, marcel fengler with elif biçer, and steffi. 2015 marked ostgut tons ten-year anniversary, celebrated with an extensive 30 track compilation release, titled ostgut ton | zehn, spread out over ten 12inch vinyl records housed inside a limited box set. this sampler sold out in no time, which is why ostgut ton is re-issuing these ten 12-es individually in 2016. all good things must come to an end, and so does this label compilation with its final re-release. long-time ostgut ton collaborator elif biçer lends her tantalising vocals to marcel fenglers uk-spirited, breaky and dark beats, with, vocals and lyrics aside – its open snare drum roll, the brazen sounds and seething bassline being the most distinctive elements of fallin on a. on the flipside up-and-coming etapp kyle opens b1 with blistering bleeps atop a solid kick, brushed percussion and surging, subtly atmospheric synth pads. there arent many producers as productive as steffi is: löweborschtel continues her past electro-influenced releases on b2: bouncy and rhythmic, moody yet spot-on, dreamy while fierce. to the next zehn years!

upon the first listen, the work of fernando unfolds directly on your brain and leaves a long lasting feeling of drama. fernando pulichino is one those lucky guys who can pick up any instrument and write songs without breaking a sweat. he first caught my attention with a remake of the bauhaus classic kick in the eye released on redux in 2008. he then backed up this great start with releases and remixes for labels like international feel, under the shade, internasjonal and nang. he also very busy touring as part of the 2020 soundsystem band and he is also in silver city with julian sanza.
we decided to put together a long player to highlight the talents of our man in buenos aires. the construction of *float* reveals an astonishing wealth of musical ideas, brazen touches of new wave and icy modern disco sounds are evident throughout. low slung basses are also a theme that runs right through *float* whether it is the opening song *a place* which has a monster electronic bottom end or *from out there* which sits firmly on the punk funk dinner table, bass lines are clearly important to fernando.

on faaveelaa jameszoo displays the kind of brazen ingenuity that youth affords by drawing inspiration from dancehall before finding its edge to craft an entirely new take on the genre and using that to paint a colourful sonic picture of what he imagines a favela might look like. sounds mad? it is, in a good way. by his own admittance the picture he paints is also a bit messy, yet there is beauty in chaos. as for the inspiration, it can sometimes be hard to hear at first though anyone familiar with jamaicas dancehall tradition will recognise the instantly catchy quality of faaveelaas riddims.

>let yrself be<, the second single to be taken from jimmy edgars critically acclaimed majenta, tells the story of, in resident advisors words, a nomadic sex fiend gone clubbing. two of the albums more brazen house cuts are the focus, evincing an artist as adept at catering for dance-floor and dj as he is for the home-listener.
the title track is a beatific cruise through stabs, chords, claps and slaps to a place where 90s house meets garage vocals, shutters are raised and everyone dances happily ever after. >heartkey<, on the other hand, shows a starchild at his sultriest. chugging along with electro swagger and vocoder charm, his claims to be the only one with the key to your heart are hard to disbelieve. lock up your android daughters.

sao paulos techno titan returns. gui boratto needs little introduction - after all he has played pretty much every corner of the globe, placing himself as one of the most in-demand producers and performers in dance music today. its summer and kompakts bomb for the season is about to explode. just in time for his extensive european tour throughout july. the drill embraces the classic kompakt shaffel but delivered in a chalice of class that only gui boratto is capable of drinking from. a roaring bass line that sways side to side in layers of euphoric harmony. bold – brazen. boratto. stems from hell is classic boratto. guitar-esque chording launches this depth charge that is just pure build. tension and release – you sense this track can almost breath on its own. the moments are near perfect in this swelling that reaches a fever pitch right when you think it would never come. there will be more from gui boratto in 2011....stay tuned.

following up their brazen debut on nang in 2010 ibiza lord, pete gooding and chill capitano chris coco return with their follow up. this time they have enlisted the silky vocals of peter coyle, best known as the voice of liverpool based lotus eaters who made the amazing >first picture of you< in the early 80s. >believe< turns down the bpm quotient a few notches and sets the destinations for balearic.

after almost 2 years without publishing new material. the label properproud reappears with this ep limited to 250 copies. the owners of the label santi and roger (strange connection) have worked very hard to remind everyone with this record that the electro-techno and ebm will not die ever! this time, properproud back with more force and with the intention of staying forever. closing mouths includes 4 tracks of 4 major artists and the name isn t coincidental. it s time to shut many mouths that don t rely on this kind of music the first one closing mouths (a1) has been signed by the owners of the label (strange connection) is the first time published in properproud. a track of pure ebm, dark and evil but with great force and which has received great support from artists like angel molina and dave clarke who has played several times in his white noise radio show. the second one hurt me (a2) has been signed by jonathann cast in collaboration with the voices of drey. after publishing in dancefloor killers come to properproud and do it in a forceful and dark track that can move any dance floor. bluntly electro-techno and without mercy! on b side, we find 2 of the best signings he has made during that properproud parentheses. in the first cut (b1) adriano canzian, currently one of the most bizarre techno artists, with halim the dream shows because david carretta and dj hell is set in it. a brutal track, direct and intended to enjoy it in a club. dave clarke has supported it without hesitation. and to finish off the ep, ruben montesco (b2), after his passage through lasergun and other labels turn to properproud to demonstrate in madrid that also makes good techno and ebm. insomniac s red room is a dark track, evil but with a lot of energy and a perfect voice. rubÚn besides being a great friend and supporter of properproud is undoubtedly one of the best producers of this style at national level. 4 tracks that shape a piece of craft for lovers of brazen sounds and is the first of a series of 12 inch that will see the light soon and will be limited to 250 copies. properproud is back .... stop the minimal. use your brain!

recording as lord cut-glass, alun woodward, formerly of the delgados, releases his first album since the delgados? ?universal audio? in 2004. extraordinarily ambitious, ?lord cut glass? was written, arranged and in large part performed by woodward, recalling the orchestral grandeur of his former band whilst forging a style of acerbic, sardonic songwriting all of his own. lord cut glass features galloping percussion, waltzes, marches and promenades of male and female harmony: delicate and serene creations punctuated by casual profanity and shot through with brazenly hilarious words-to-the-wise.
