rare brazil album made available again through mr bongo, incl. voce abuso & kabaluere. nice! a truly fantastic record that sounds the way it looks � psychedelic rock, samba-funk and tripped out mpb. features kabaluere as sampled by marcelo d2 on his hit qual e. arranged by rogerio duprat, featuring legendary guitarist lanny gordin. antonio carlos & jocafi were a very successful and famous brazilian writing duo, born in bahia. they worked with the likes of wilson simonal, rosinha de valença, trio mocotó, milton banana, toquinho and more. originally released on rca brazil in 1971, this was the duos debut lp. two versions of the album cover exist in brazil � this, the psyched-out, burnt out version, and a much less exciting photograph of the chaps, pressed to include the single desacato which became a popular hit in brazil and several european countries.

following the peace obscured ep by bokeh, his joint venture with anthone, katsunori sawa sets yet another mark on the weevil neighbourhood with his first full-length solo artist album on the label. titled secret of silence the eight tracks-spanning work of kyoto based sawa drills through japan techno, industrial breaks and noise while flirting with breakcore and a more aggressive take on dub.
katsunori sawa has been with the label for pretty much four years now with solo projects as well as joint ventures (besides the aforementioned bokeh, he�s also part of steven porter with his brother in arms yuji kondo with whom he also runs their own 10 label). his musical career reaches back another few years when he was writing and producing under eoc (short for enormous o clock), including an album for ai records.
the release comes as a limited edition 12� record on black vinyl with artwork by l.a. based lee noble (no kings records/ bathetic).

an independent band since 1998, dub inc are nonetheless fully acclaimed by the entire reggae scene. the group won no less than three victoires du reggae awards (in 2014 for the paradise album, in 2011 for hors contrôle, and 2008 for afrikya). in 2016, they are back with a sixth lp, so what. no doubt this one will be yet another important landmark. completely self-produced, as is their habit and will, this fourteen-track record is the result of a long process of composing and writing songs inspired by the dark events that have been going on in france in the last few months. featuring a mix of dancehall, hip-hop, and electronica influences, so what is a pure reggae album upholding the values of this rebellious, spiritual, and universal music genre.

the kurl project started in the summer of 2014 where the primary concept was to sonically encompass the various influences of a twenty-year musical journey. the essence of kurls sound is mainly deep dub with hints of house groove that create a very unique sound environment connecting the listener to his lifestyle and movement. at the root of �sacred fire� is a very special love story. kurl started an emotional partnership, a genuine brotherhood with mj white, one of the pioneers of the soulful house music sound of the new york �90s. marshall james white appeared on many hits in the nyc club scene including scandalous still irresistible just to name one. he tragically passed away in november 2015. mj white gives soul to sacred fire by writing the lyrics and interpreting it with so much passion that kurl was able to transform this track into an eternal love song. for kurl, mj white will remain the angel with a heavenly voice, and above all, a memory that will mark his internal and musical journey for the rest of his days in the words of mj white music has a huge heart that beats inside all of us.

early electronics by a.k.klosowski made available again through felix kubin s galgarin records label! long before digital sampling was affordable for everyone, a.k.klosowski invented his kassetteninstrument, a custom-made music apparatus consisting of eight sony-walkmen combined with a mute/demute mechanism. the outputs of the instrument could be controlled both by hand and by an automatic trigger module. in addition, a drum computer and some effect machines were fed into the circuit. this technique allowed for very intuitive and simultaneous control over the analogue tape sources.

mystery, poetry, a play of masks: artistic creation according to john cravache. his collaboration with versatile dates back to the beginning of the millennium. a childhood friend of i:cube, he is 44 years old, lives in a paris suburb, and is not a professional artist. getting involved in writing, he has been boasting his artistic and economic independence and his crafty attitude outside of the industrial system. he gave himself time to invent a personal world, wild and funny, which eventually gave birth to the album -cités nomades-. even though his influences are quite varied and avant-garde (magma, captain beefheart, tom waits), they did not really affect this unclassifiable project. poetry and mystery come before all, because john cravache is appearing masked. john cravache and nicolas chaix (i:cube) have recorded radio creations since the early 90s, in particular for chimère fm in paris, as well as numerous long improvised music sessions. at the approach of the millennium, they embarked on the creation of an album that was not completed until sixteen (!) years later. john is a poet, accomplished pianist, and registered truck driver and nicolas, a self-taught musician, have both made the realisation of -cités nomades- possible. this is not an ironic pop album, this album is simply all you want. listening will do you much good

the eleventh release on romb is a wild yet beautiful mini compilation, combining detroit and chicago vibes with uk breakbeats and a dash of melancholic electronica: a generous ep with dj friendly tracks that will also work perfectly at home. the a-side starts off with a detroit flavored acid house groover by new artist almost automatic, followed by solarity, a stormy, break-ridden dance stepper with an epic feel. on the flipside sean dixon, well-known from releases on clone and rawax as well as his own final chapter imprint, delivers a clean-cut italo infused chicago house gem. the ep ends with a beautiful, melodic down-tempo synth journey by daniel savio. all in all a diverse and playful ep with old-school vibes, yet with fresh twists and turns. limited to 200 copies only, this is a gem not to be missed.

the album was written, produced, and distributed in garys hometown baltimore, between 1986 and 1987. after a break from performing while getting belated college degrees, gary returned to performing in the early 21st century, back to the singer/songwriter style of his past. gary feels that the generic art ensemble/original soundtrack days gave him an ability to open up his writing. his recent albums feature guitar, but many songs do have keyboards added to give them a fuller, less folky sound.

without knowing it, you�ve probably heard kelly lee owens work over the past few years: the 27-year-old london producer contributed vocals and writing&#8239,,,,to several tracks on fellow uk techno wizard daniel avery�s debut lp, 2014�s drone logic, and she�s made waves with a pair of limited-release 12� singles showcasing her gifts for spectral, hallucinatory pop. on&#8239,,,,the �oleic� ep,&#8239,,,,her debut release on smalltown supersound, owens flexes her considerable muscle as a dance producer with four luscious, deeply satisfying slices of big-room electronic music.

four never before released or publicly available demo cuts from the writing sessions of craig peyton and jolyon skinner circa 1983-1985. the duo produced and wrote hits for artists in between working on their own projects. these songs survived the past 30 years on a cassette tape, which was lovingly transferred for this exclusive to peyton records release. after their short but fruitful collaborative period, peyton went on as a writer and band leader and skinner went on to have a career as a songwriter for pop acts such as joe, nsync, and freddie jackson. in the words of craig peyton: �jolyon skinner and i met in the early �80s through our mutual friend keith diamond (the trinidadian producer of hits such as �caribbean queen� by billy ocean). after we met, jolyon and i started regular writing sessions at my nyc p-factor studio. our first break came in 1983 with howard johnson�s �let this dream be real-. that was followed up with �love of a lifetime� by melba moore and �where ya gonna be tonight� for will collins. after this we were offered a recording deal by april blackwood music, but due to my contract with profile records at the time we couldn�t accept it. shortly after skinner got signed to zomba and we stopped writing together around 1985.

die form is a french post-industrial and electronic band formed in 1977-1978. the name die form means (the) form/shape in german and is a play on the english homonym deformed and on the french homonym difforme (deformed). die form is the primary project of electronic musician and multimedia artist philippe fichot. he began by recording a number of experimental cassette releases in the late 1970s and formed the bain total label to release these early cassettes, as well as various side projects such as krylon hertz, camera obscura, eva-johanna reichstag, hurt and fine automatic.

hey everyone, dont be alarmed as we understand that you just heard of us a few weeks back. here we are again with another doobified doozie of a 12inch. from the furthest reaches of the canadian west coast comes a concoction by three well known faces that have a long history of working together, they prefer to remain anonymous for this 12inch for reasons beyond us. were not that good at keeping secrets and have a suspicion that you hear the rambling house that is emitted from this trio brings to your ears will recall something very familiar. johnny lumière and the triads, originally conceived as side characters of the adventures of t-bar and salary man cartoon (never published). the music was recorded during break intervals in the cartoon writing sessions (still seeking illustrator). file this under mystified house with a splash of sunshine. ps:weve been doing our own printed sleeves for the last few records from a really cool print house here in berlin. we think they look unique as they are a print/ fold out designed by our friend dave girard. people seem to be into them and figured we should say that as we are only doing limited runs of them.

after completing his debut 12- for 100% silk (which saw a release in feb 2016) hubert clarke jr spent most of 2015 focused on pushing the music of others, through sydney s newest record store, outer time inner space. owning and being surrounded by a literal shop full of records provided motivation and inspiration but left little time for writing.

the omnibus band was founded by jarda zajpt and petr dikan in 1979 in czechoslovakia. having met at the electronic high school, electronics was their field of expertise. over time, petr dikan constructed several sound devices such as the �ílený fridrich (�f, crazy frederick) keyboard and the vsd (v�ude samý dráty/wires everywhere) generator which he operated during the recordings and also at concerts. at that time, heavily influenced by brian eno and robert fripp from the king crimson band, jarda zajpt played the guitars, using all kinds of effects, pre-recorded tapes, and one or more interconnected tape recorders. the first record, �israels�, was produced between 1980 and 1982. in 1985, jarda zajpt swapped a guitar for a keyboard and a new member arrived � pavel zvolenský � who programmed and played the automatic percussions. martin bauer, playing the bass guitar, completed the trio. they have produced a second album, �rhythmus�, in this assembly. remastered from unreleased tape recordings. this is the first release in the framework of the project jupiter 08 � archeology of the slavic electronic sound.

it is very difficult to present david duriez without writing an encyclopedic tome as its influence on the house music in france was decisive. since its inception in 1992, david released over a hundred records under his name, tens under various pseudonyms, mainly on vinyls on the most renowned labels like 2020vision, ovum, systematic, pokerflat, f communication, under the counter, stickman, crosstown rebels, the end, etc .. (the list is long, see discogs.com to be convinced) and as many remixes for some of the greatest artists (think moby, dj sneak, gemini, dj hell, llorca, telex, random factor, johnny fiasco, paul johnson, jori hulkkonen, ralph lawson, random factor, kenny hawkes or mr.c). founder of the label brique rouge and a whole galaxy of other labels, he participated in the creation of internationally recognized labels such as robsoul with phil weeks, freak n chic with dan ghenacia (from apollonia) or rz muzik. at a time when david had federated online the cream of the house producers via a forum (far and long before social networks), ivan smagghe had nicknamed him -the producer of the producers.- , a true house music activist, but most of all david duriez is a devastating dancefloor dj, he did several tours around the world and played in some of the biggest clubs in the world between 1995 and 2010. truly one of the most important players in the french electro scene, david is back on tracks after a few years hyatus. but don t call it a comeback because he has never really gone awol, he has been watching the scene and now he s back in the studio. you can expect a (very) long serie of releases for 2016, you have been warned!

redefine is the second single taken from trentemøllers new album fixion and features marie fisker on vocals. marie fisker, a mainstay of the trentemøller live constellation, has also been a long-time studio collaborator of anders and her four songs on fixion mark their third musical partnership. marie has such a powerful and unique voice that fits my music quite naturally. i had her in mind as soon as i started writing. she ended up singing on four of the songs so shes definitely the voice that kind of leads you through the album. having toured so extensively with marie, we ve come to understand each others capacities and that really pushes us to challenge and inspire each other. i reckon thats the driving force behind our songwriting.

zipper is zemi17s second release on the bunker new york, and sees him expanding his musical palette considerably, in which his gamelan derived sound design pushes further out towards the expanses of techno s realm. zipper is the product of years of work. the tracks on this record began as field recordings taken from indonesia insect sounds, gamelan, found sounds, says kuffner. each of these tracks comes from a different stage of my music-writing process over the years. i eventually developed a kind of sketch and improv technique, re-arranging groupings and arrangements of a series of elements. zipper reflects a culmination of this technique, and in my opinion, its representative of some of my best work
