mono junk�s cult label dum records is back with a new five track various artists ep that again packs a vital punch. he appears himself along with some fellow legends of the scene. first up, morpholgy is a consistent performer who has continued to serve up quality electro since 2009 and here serves up a hot new piece. �vector plant� is busy and industrial, slick and metallic as it unfolds and burrows deep into your veins. then comes the a2, irwin berg featuring freestyle man (aka finnish moodmusic boss sasse aka klas lindblad) with a track made in 1995 and never released before. this pair worked together and made a cult electro record for sähkö recordigs in 1998 and this one is just as impactful. it is frosty and frazzled, slow motion but high impact and full of distorted lines and heavy drums. next is mr velcro fastener who were the first kings of electro to come out of finland and between 1999 and 2006 were famous all over the world. their brand new cut �almost there� is a deep one that is riddled with bleeping melodies and has smeared chords bringing a sci-fi feel. then it is mono junk�s turn to dive into the vaults with an unreleased track from 2005. �feeling or destroy� is a physical number with crashing hits and snaking, gurgling bass that is dark and dystopian. last of all comes irwin berg with mono junk as new york city survivors. says the dum boss, �our unreleased track here was made after the new york city survivors � static light cd 2002� and it is a turbo charged track with screwed up grinding bass, icy hi hat rhythms and menace in its grooves.

its the music of the space that extends between oceans and mountain slopes. its the music of the space that is much bigger and much more adventurous than the four walls of a club look like. its the latest record on acker, and it orbits around a song from il civetto. the band from berlin is a wonderfully multicultural bunch. their sound is reminiscent of gypsy, folk or swing, but at the same time it doesnt really fit any of these labels. liberté ana is a perfect example. monolink turns this track into a groovy downbeat tune that vibrates much higher than its low bpm count - the perfect soundtrack for laid-back afternoons or afterhours. pophop does what he does best: party. however, between the catchy bassline and the tight percussions of his remix theres still a lot of space for the soul of liberté ana. umami goes even further and creates an ecstatic banger that has everything it takes to be played during the prime time on the dance floor.

after releasing their own debut record in 2014 the hamburg based group sky walking formed by peter kersten, christian naujoks and richard von der schulenburg now celebrates the launch of their self-titled label. by bringing together an international line-up of artists mostly associated with the new and experimental music scenes in cities like hamburg, berlin and new york sky walking not only establishes a link between different locations and their specific (local) scenes � with the golden pudel club in hamburg somehow functioning as a bermuda triangle � but also between different generations of artists from these scenes.

new years deal - the next chapter in the creme organization ecplise series comes from cosmic garden with three original tracks and one remix from orgue electronique. little is known about cosmic garden other than he is from southern italy and has had two eps out in 2016, one on hotmix and one on cosmic rhythm. he heads out the blocks here with reptilian treant , six minutes of lo-fi deep house that is roomy and atmospheric. lazy synths bring soul and a gentle chatter of claps and hits helps drive it along. rare centaur is also way below the surface but is darker and more celestial, with turbulent bass, frantic claps and angelic chords glowing like a white light at the end of a tunnel. dutch house and electro don orgue electronique then remixes reptilian treant into something that is slick and serene, with metallic lines dancing above rubbery drums as big piano chords boucle up top. it is joyous and colourful and truly majestic before final track apocalyptic moose takes us back down into a mournful house vibe that echoes chicago with its roughhewn analogue textures and lovestruck chords.

ut of control hot tracks provided on the 3rd ep from chicago basement trax! this vinyl has it all featuring the 1992 style that influenced jeremy underground paris to create mliu as well as 1980s trax reminiscent of artists like mike dunn or steve poindexter. at that point we d be happy but there is even more included for the disco edit and dub crowd. you can t go wrong with this ep!

argot excavates an unexplored corner of chicago house history. lab work 91-96 collects the work of chris ike and john kardaras, two chicago producers with few records to their names but a wealth of compelling unreleased material waiting in their archives. the compilation highlights the pair�s particular vision and musical breadth across 14 tracks, drawn from a cd-r given to steve mizek in 2010 that was recently rediscovered. lab work was remastered in it�s entirety by dietrich schoenemann, sounding much at home today yet intimately connected to a formative time in chicago house history.

nonplus has been pushing the envelope for forward thinking music since its inception in 2009 and the next ep confirms this. there is little known about hexagon son but the raw and intricate sound of the spiral ep suggests this is no newcomer. from the hypnotic swirls of spiral17, the raw robot funk of opia to the deconstructed tape driven re-imaging of blipworx. the spiral ep covers all corners of the expansive world of techno.

lanthan.audio, the german label founded by christian gerlach, now presents its sixth release from abstract division . the netherland-based dou delivers a 4 track ep with two originals and two remixes by milton bradley (do not resist the beat) and albert van abbe (vanabbe). abstract divisions corrosive mind stands with a significant synthline that screws into your mind. surrounded from its open and pumping drums its really developing into a mesmerising piece for the dance floor with a high recognition value. milton bradley strips it down and presents a very strong tool with a great tension in itself. intervention grabs up its name and reflects the word into sound. it comes along with a exciting touch and builds up slowly but strong. with potent drums, like we knew it from abstract division, it is definetly a track for various situations but not without loosing its goal. albert van abbe abstracts the core and reshapes it with classic drum sounds and adds an emotional melody, its centerpiece. tight and thoughtful next strike from lanthan.audio again, which is expanding advisedly.

increasingly known for his productions as much as his storied dj sets, eric cloutier approaches the studio with the same kind of precision that marks out his club and festival appearances. on this first release on palinoia he exercises a keen sense of control over playful elements, not least on lead track -heuristic-. the nagging lead synth may hop around the mix, but it stays locked on to a thoroughly focused undercarriage of drums and low end that suits the professional techno set. -ipseity- is lighter in its demeanour thanks to some calming pad tones, but the strong structure of the track remains. the release rounds up with the slower thump of -opprobrium-, surmising cloutier s attitude to the warm-up part of a serious, long-lasting dj set.

it s not often that you get to see alan oldham stepping out under his own name. the legendary detroit artist is more commonly spotted as dj t-1000 (or designing iconic artwork for techno labels) but this time around he s sharing some more house-minded delights for finale sessions. -don t take me- is a haunting, mystical slice of deep house that fits into the finale narrative perfectly, while -wild- too offers up a distinctive approach that manages to be both refined and yet imbued with that detroit roughness. -breathe- may well be the best jam on the record, dealing in subtle threads of melody that conjure up the perfect dubby 4/4 confection.

Æ is a particularly icelandic form, pronounced �i� in english, bjarki thinks it just looks good. here it is a selection of music that is at its core quite simple, with restrained instrumentation, made on hardware and features a selection of older works and the most recent produced just weeks ago. bjarki is from iceland. born and raised. despite the fact that bjarki is known for making extremely powerful dance floor tracks he doesn�t seem to belong to any particular genre. something this triptych of lps demonstrates very well. his music is at times cinematic and there�s a story behind each track. bjarki�s music always has something to do with him personally, but he�d rather the listener lose themselves in the music than pay much attention to the man behind them. either on a record or to one of his ever evolving live sets.

cbrb s latest triptych for phantasy takes their sound into a more dystopian direction, a world of concrete shopping centres, the occult and physically irresistible repetition. the title track �mecanique sauvage� is a muscular industrial / outsider house track, a stop start rollercoaster that constantly intensifies. one part a brutal exercise in poise and restraint, and one part undiluted disco excess. a contradictory beast of a track. something of a epic (at over 8 mins long) �children of the monolith� drops the tempo to 100 bpm and takes the listener on a very different kind of trip. a widescreen composite of tribal drums, sinister synths and the beguiling mantras of an arcane cult. don t touch the brown acid... �soda jerk� is the everything but the kitchen sink moment on the ep, a hymn to over indulgence. unhinged electronic body music, a gloriously relentless assault on the senses. resistance is futile!

following his last two ep releases on southern fried records, half-austrian/half-russian artist producer motsa (real name valerio dittrich) has announced his forthcoming fourth ep petricolour , due out 4th november on his own label imprint. petricolour ep is written about the decline of our western society, its beauty, wealth and our opportunities having reached a peak and the onset of gradual decay. this is reflected in the accompanying artwork (photograph by andreas peter wall) , the flowers symbolising deterioration but retaining some beauty and hope. throughout the ep, motsa incorporates organic textures and sounds recorded from nature and his surroundings.
