following his last two ep releases on southern fried records, half-austrian/half-russian artist producer motsa (real name valerio dittrich) has announced his forthcoming fourth ep petricolour , due out 4th november on his own label imprint. petricolour ep is written about the decline of our western society, its beauty, wealth and our opportunities having reached a peak and the onset of gradual decay. this is reflected in the accompanying artwork (photograph by andreas peter wall) , the flowers symbolising deterioration but retaining some beauty and hope. throughout the ep, motsa incorporates organic textures and sounds recorded from nature and his surroundings.
valerio dittrich aka motsa grew up in the scottish highlands surrounded by various styles of british electronic music. this period of his life, and a lust for soulful music from any country or continent, has clearly left marks in his production style today. through the years he has collaborated and experimented in various genres to keep his output versatile. his current sound is somewhere between glitchy yet dance floor oriented beats and bass driven electronica.
includes remixes by roman rauch and lupo and a code for free download of this release.
if you ask the canadian producer and dj edward currelly aka eddie c to name you some things he havent done yet but always wanted he answers: visit greenland. Êsell 45s off the back of my motorcycle in jamaica. those who know the music of the former countryman that left the canadian nature to get inspired by the lively culture jungle of berlin get a winking smile on their lips.
his second album country city country is full of such a vibes. but not obvious and this at least because there is not much reggae to be found. only in his dubbed out album opener to each their own you can hear the echoes of jamaica cleary. then his record passes away into some cool hiphop instrumentals full of haunting samples that easily loop in your head.
