geno records first release comes to you from belgium based dan d. dan comes from a traditional of both classical and jazz traditions. dan also developed a love of latin dance in his youth. once moving to berlin in 2001, dan was further influenced by the house sounds of the original panorama bar. dan himself has continued on to dj some of berlins best parties/venues including beatstreet, watergate, arena, maria, and the new panorama bar. club der visionäre has also been very important to dans musical growth. dan has had the opportunity to cut his teeth playing 10 hour marathon sets during his regular appearances since 2004. furthermore, he appeared in clubs like rote sonne (munich) and decadance (gent, belgium). friends like tobi neumann and dinky got him into production in 2003. dans first vinyl release on district of corruption lead to praise from some of the best djs in the business. the african market is quite an evolved sophomoric release for dan. the title track, african market, is a pulsating but stripped down organic percussive journey. afro-cuban rhythms lovingly exchange energy with warm analog synths and crisp techno electronic beats. the flip side, el baile, is a slow burning house jam. el baile features eerily reverberated studio recorded vuvuzela, crisply saturated jazz keys, and the same pumping afro-cuban rhythms that sets dans sound apart from others.

here at bearfunk hq we firmly believe in perseverance. we keep asking questions until we get the right answer and with 6ft bear by our side the answer is usually yes. we kept asking ilija rudman to get in the studio and write us a killer lp but being the busy bee that he is it was hard for him to take the time out. we kept asking until he eventually caved in and went underground to record his first lp, >the reveal<. ilija is a devoted and passionate man when it comes to music. one of his prerequisites for recording an lp was that the recordings had to be made with the same techniques and equipment that inspired him to make music in the first place. so ilija hooked up with one of his studio mentors and got his dream line-up of synthesizers, roland jupiter 4 & 8, minimoog, roland sh2, juno 60 and his dream drum machines linn and oberheim dmx. these analogue machines fire up to create a warm and authentic vibe across the whole lp. we are reminded here that machines do have soul if used properly. we start proceedings with the wigged out boogie of >inspectors drive< which might be a little nod in the direction of wally badarous classic chief in< have all the ingredients of dj friendly hits. the lp reveals all the influences that ilija has experienced and it shows the talent that runs inside him as he is able to make such an amazingly retro lp sound like something from the future. we are sure in years to come this lp could become as important as the influences that inspired mr. rudman to make it.

m=minmal continues the collaboration with electronic music legend conrad schnitzler. we are happy, after 30 years, to re-release one of the key works from conrads large adventurous backcatalog. >ballet statique< is not only a musical milestone but also a highlight of music production. it was recorded in 1978 at the legendary paragon studio / berlin by peter baumann - tangerine dream in the same period when other masterworks like cluster - >großes wasser< and solo recordings of roedelius and asmus tietchens were recorded. >ballet statique< was first released on the legendary french label egg. this albums is a must have not only for fans of the emeralds and oneohtrix point never.

three years after his first album and numerous eps later, limewax returns with his second full length studio album >empfindsamer stil<. this album is a smorgasbord of electronically symphonic ideas, a definite departure from limewaxs last lp and is promised to be yet another milestone in the history of progressive, harder, drum and bass.

next up on blitz is our first brand new recording. it was recorded in summer 2010 near atzaro, ibiza. visage and blitz club music supremo rusty egan was staying there over the summer and was making fine use of the inbuilt studio tagged onto his villa. sounds like some fine inspiration for a summer electro anthem... cue two of the hottest dance producers around, germanys justus kohncke and italys bottin. the triumvirate was now complete.
