spring is here. its the time for lightly dressed easiness. its the time for big emotions. and when it comes to music, its the time for acker-sound! matching the outbreak of the open air season, it comes in the form of extra laid-back dub techno. the >ganja tune< from english producer robot needs oil moves somewhere between casual dance steps and relaxed hip swing, sunny guitar play creates a warm summer vibe. mollono.bass bangs the kick drum a little louder, arranges a bouncing groove based on catchy offbeat chords, and inserts the fluffy sound of a transverse flute. in another version, he additionally involves the latin charm of singer ava. finally the last track on this ep comes with dubby delay sounds, a jamaican-flavoured vocal sample and smoky beats: >pull up< by robot needs oil is a musical invitation for inspired mindbody relaxation
grinch presents a collection of deep productions with dark, spaced-out tone, for his first solo ep. the title track sets the mood with a minimal, devilish bouncing shimmer, that grows into a subby monster in no time. the vibe changes with pulling teeth dropping us into a spacious ambience, with ghost tones of varying frequencies. on the flip, genjutsu, a heart pumping rhythm with knife edge minimal percussion. the final tune, 1:45am is reminiscent of a dark sci-fi nightmare scene and followed by waking up in a terrifying, cold sweat. together the tracks teeter along the lines of techno with dubstep influences.
massive techno tunes by paul.groove and lars gustav a.k.a evensloped. played and supported by: xpansul, lado, mentalic, kaufmann&ferdinand, ascon bates
soniculture, the lisbon-based label, proudly presents billy dalessandros 5th album entitled cracktime. this project forges a new generation of production style and sound design for billy as he cocks the shotgun of his latest experiment in electronic debauchery. cracktime sonically defines those innocent and naughty moments that each of us exhibit, in our own way, that helps to fulfill our lives with all those insane memories we carry with us back to the grave. thirteen tracks round out this ring match in a dub-infused, 303- injected, chicago-style bassd-out fight that lasts just about an hour. so sit back (or jack back) to the show, and remember...that if religion is the opium of the masses, music definitely gives us our daily crack.
this is the one. this is the summer tune of 2011. skream annie mac & nick grimshaw have all been building the hype hackmans epic title track >close<. probably one of the best pieces of, bass driven vocal dance music this year. cheekily sniping the alicia keys acapella from >no one< and employing the pitching down technique hackman compliments the vocal riff with layers of heavily clapped out garage breakbeats, and tops it off with a euphoric, futuristic grime bassline that rolls out like an atlantic breaker. its not just close, its perfect - and its another effortlessly curated release from greco-roman.
played by dave clarke, the advent, chris liebing, gary beck, sasha carassi, mike humphries, space djz, chris hope & andre walter, thomas heckmann, alex bau and various others!
the third release on dublin imprint ghetto quietly presents the debut ep from new york grown, irish dubbed lady grew. a stripped back four track selection of grinding tribal ragga and bass-rave smeared dancehall a la warrior queen vs the bug or dokkebi q, all oiled down in sleazy 808 sub tones. with karl kong (aka prince kong) on the beats and lady grew on the mic this is a riotous sultry affair not to be missed.

r.i.p. hollertronix series, that club staple borne in philly by diplo and low b that, in its lifetime, has seen the pair rise from small time basement collaborators and underground party hustlers to major label players and arena rockers. it helped introduced the world to bmore and balie funk music and let djs know it was okay to embrace a pluralistic club experience where its more than okay to crunch up a set with indie, hip hop and dance music. the seeds of hollertronix are sown, but now they ve grown, with the departure of low b, diplo has nursed the growth into the full fledged mad decent label under universals downtown records umbrella. the last word from hollertronix is this, a four track banger from amsterdams the partysquad, which is the hollertronix 10 12inch. it includes potential future classics: pull up, crazyfunkystyle, murderer & rage.
one of rough trades island 50th anniversary selection - 50 crucial titles, specially selected by us to highlight the unique contribution this seminal label has made to british music since 1959. jones best post disco album recorded in nassau, bahamas, with a truly remarkable studio band, including the legendary reggae rhythm team of sly dunbar and robbie shakespeare, along with marianne faithful collaborator barry reynolds on guitar. the songs are generally arranged in an innovative, ahead of their time way (echoey yet spare, with lots of deep bass) that owes a bit to dub and in any case provides a perfect backdrop for jones queen of the undead vocals. highlights include the proto rap walkin in the rain, (by easybeats / ac/dc auteurs vanda and young) and a spooky cover of bill withers use me.
phat rockin 3 tracker !! television rocks präsentiert zero cash s neusten release “give it to me”. nachdem zero cash sich in den letzten monaten hauptsächlich mit remixen für maral salmassi, raziek und masturbo beschäftigt hat, serviert er uns nun seine bunte mixtur von drei mitreißenden tracks. angefangen mit dem dancefloor-kracher „give it to me“ geht es auf der anderen seite mit dem extrem funkigen disco-house track „suck, push, pull“ weiter. zum schluss serviert uns zero cash noch den perfekten electro-roadmovie soundtrack mit “meatpoint”. alles in allem eine sehr gelungene mischung, die jeden club zum kochen bringt.
