it’s with a lot of excitement that archipel’s boss himself releases a vinyl extract of his album’s favorite tracks. while the album which consist of 2 cds, we thought some of the works would fit well in the hands of collectors who would push the tunes in their quirky sets. the opening track, titled “big trouble in little cave” is one that could haunt a techno party in berlin where in the breakdown, things just go out of control and while you think you can’t take anymore, the music takes you back to earth. tests have proven to be used with care, reports indicate some people reacted with a lot of noise. “dérape totale” is perhaps a cross of four tet releasing on raster noton. awkward combo indeed but the strange structure on top of weirdly arranged percussion is set to catch your attention and draw you into an inner journey. with the chance of having manchester’s dncn join him for vocals, pheek goes with his first interpretation of what a pheekie-pop tune could be: fun, intriguing and catchy! >follow the flow< is the closing track and is one build tension with surprising exploding percussion clashes on top of melodic waves.

as someone that wears many hats, including dj, labelowner, producer and radio presenter, anja schneider has certainly been juggling them all very successfully this year. currently on a busy touring schedule in south america celebrating five years of mobilee records, before leaving for the road she also put aside some time to get back in the studio and produce a brand new ep, mobilee072 pushin. whilst she worked on her most recent productions such as ithought and something left with kiki, and also shinkansen with lee van dowski, this time she partnered once again with paul brtschitsch, with whom she co-produced her debut lp beyond the valley in 2008. famed for playing dj-sets that always come with a powerful bass and sexy groove, pushin is the perfect production equivalent of anja schneiders club performance. the title track comes with a soulful vocal, whilst a2 >strong way< is intended as a female interpretation of the same track. meanwhile, b1 >i dont feel anything< takes you on an eery ride with whispered utterances. enjoy!

2010 has seen some juicy, off-the-wall techno/electronic vinyl goodies from the head space of little nobody, including the acclaimed >metropolis how?< and >robota< records - with remixes by the likes of james ruskin, justin berkovi, inigo kennedy, dj hi-shock, si begg, patrick pulsinger and steve stoll. but its the originator of the tracks who continues to push the perimeters, recently leading hi-shock, the prolific innovator behind the essential elektrax empire, to suggest that honestly, i think you are at least a couple of years ahead in your musical vision compared to other producers. little nobodys alter ego andrez bergen has also had his head buried this year in the creation of a hardboiled/noir/sci-fi novel called >tobacco-stained mountain goat<, and it was in the midst of this project - with these heady influences - that the get away from it all 12-inch project came to light. thus we got on board bas mooy (planet rhythm/audio assault) and dave tarrida (tresor/musick) to do the two scintillating re-takes here, which are downright brilliant. meanwhile little nobodys troll, on the flip-side, lives up to its claim: its hardboiled and devastatingly dirty electronica. all up, think streetwise, smack-your-glitch-up techno - dark, uber-bassy, dirty and pulsating - just the way we like it, with sardonic samples and a freestyle, postmodern attitude thats invigorating. matched up with the cool artwork by marcin markowski, this is an essential slab of wax for 4:00 am head-caving techno!

tiagos >disambiguation< begins like an aural sea, with a surface made of synthesized swells that rise, fall and crest again. beneath these waves are briefly clangorous metallic noises, searing electro hisses, long-armed synth stretches, and a never ending beat. there are moments of understated beauty floating through this perfect marriage of disco and house, sounds that are there and gone: a bassline that stairsteps and synthetic strings that follow suit: playful keyboard melodies, and percussion provided by tiago himself, who fell in love with music when he learned to play drums as a kid. >nada a perder< (>nothing to lose<) shies away from the extravagance suggested by its name and instead feels relaxed – at least at its outset. against shape shifting synths and the sound of piano house, percussion takes a leading role here, including finger snaps and clanging cowbells. the energy builds to a peak but, even when things are at their most frenetic, this track never loses its studied composure. tiago mirandas remixes and releases have been issued on disco devil, italians do it better, rong music, ene, hands of time, eskimo and claremont 56. he is one half of dj duos slight delay, the sea power & change, and mendes & alçada, and also handles mutiple duties in the band gala drop. tiago has been djing seven hour sets almost every weekend for more than a decade at the infamous lux in lisbon, portugal.

first on decks .de !!! sa007 sees perc and modern heads create the first collaborations between these two core stroboscopic artefacts artists. the result is a punishing hybrid of percs dubstep tendencies and modern heads cutting techno. a-side >mendax< is cavernous. built upon solid dub foundations, it spills over into grinding, metallic territory. if the titles to be believed it takes inspiration from the shady world of lies and deceit. the atmosphere seems to agree, theres certainly something mendacious at work here. b1 takes the eps atmosphere and adds abrasion. in >percdax< cold, hard percussion is layered over a bed of warm dub. closer >moddax< errs on the eerie. it skulks, is full of sticky bleeps and the result is unnervingly dubbed out. all three track titles share the same suffix and if this indicates that they also share one quality its that theyre best heard in the glinting shadows of a club just before day break. sa007 was craftily mastered by artefacts mastering, berlin.

shake has proven himself time and time again to be one of the most original and creative producers in electronic music today. unafraid to take risks in his productions or as he calls them his failed experiments, shake has created three killer tracks for fit sound that can be called anything but failed. trackin is a bangin disco influenced house track that will smoke the dance floor. drummer downstairs is a beat track in typical shake style that mutates into something completely different and unlike anything we have heard before. frayed shows another side of shake, it is equal parts deep, melodic and dubby.

soil&pimp sessions are a jazz sextet from japan renowned for their flamboyant musicianship and style. their live show – dubbed death jazz – will melt your face. >pop korn< (taken from the bands sixth studio album) routinely incites riotous behaviour at gigs so was an obvious choice for the remix treatment.

the final chapter of vonstrokes limited vinyl album remixes features some seriously low end.
remix #1 is one the favorites of the entire project. claude met brazils dj marky on an artist bus at a uk festival last summer and gave him the track >aundy<. he asked him to do a mix and marky and his friend s.p.y. turned in this amazing drum n bass version. numerous artists have been dropping it even in the middle of house sets! it really captures the drum n bass feeling of the original track taking it back to the genre which inspired it.
remix #2 is from our up and coming bristol based bass prodigy, julio bashmore. he takes on >california< the co-production by cvs and j phlip to another level, adding smooth low end bukem style bass drops and shimmery vox/pad programming to the already insane track. bashmore is one of the few new breed of uk producers who cross over all the way from house to dubstep.

glaswegian producer, label owner and globe trotting dj graeme clark, aka the revenge, takes on holy ghost!s >say my name< – a song from the duos ep static on the wire that, in its original incarnation, is a lovely, smooth slice of electronic pop. the revenge re-models the single three times over, into a trio of distinct remixes all bearing his unmistakable signature. first up on the vinyl 12inch is the revenge remix, which starts out like a hollowed-out, hall-of-echoes version of its predecessor and then grows – bit by bit and synth by syth – into a gorgeous swirl. on the revenge instrumental, clark ups the disco ante, removing the vocal melody and replacing it with elements equally as compelling: a classic beat, synthesized strings, double handclaps, and an essential electric bassline

arne weinberg aka onmutu mechanicks presents his first 12inch on echocord. he already released two 12inchs on the sublabel echocord colour. being known for producing deep melodic techno, arnes alias onmutu mechanicks serves as a project for all things abstract and dub-influenced. lupus moon ep combines dubtechno and the deep melodic techno that arne is known for. the tracks lupus moon and aspiring to aspire is taken from his album nocturne which was released earlier this year. both tracks are powerfull techno tracks with a dubby feeling for the dancefloor. this ep also contains a remix by xdb, known from the metrolux label

following on from last years impossibly good the love quadrant ep by space dimension controller, kinnego records return with two tracks from label owner boxcutter, his first new material since the arecibo message album on planet mu. >moon pupils< is a gentle, trippy bit of 2-step, full of tweaked analogue melodies and tape echoed flute. on the flip, boxcutter & kab driver take inspiration from vintage library music and dubbed out disco. >2time< is all handclaps and insistent synth chords, with two woozy string-led breakdowns. kab driver previously worked on kgo001 as part of kinnego flux.

hot on the heels of the recent greg wilson/ray mang edits paper recordings have enlisted the remixes talents of two further hot acts in the form of faze action and brennan green.
first up we have faze actions re-edit of >drop your weapon<, a rolling and bouncing slice of funk laden modern disco that uses the distinctive guitar licks from the original and drops layers of bass, pads and drums to create an instant anthem!
on the flip we have the superb brennan green who takes >3 play it cool< and develops it into a loopy and percussive deep house masterclass, using subtle melodies and taut yet organic sounding drums. this is perfect late night tackle and provides a perfect counterpart to the upbeat disco stylings of the a side, wonderful stuff.
