two massive unreleased 12&#8243,,, inch disco bangers from the obscure florida band fruit, cut loud and deep like a true disco 12 should be. the fruit band’s fleeting existence was only recently revealed by the discovery of a few unsold copies of their sole 1978 7&#8243,,, single, say it, which quickly became a cult showpiece for savvy djs and collectors.

originally released on infarkt records, this great ep gets back to life on atomium. florida boys is a frankfurt/offenbach-based electronic music project by dirk schricker and matthias braun. they have been actively creating music between 1996 and 1998, releasing a couple of tracks on eps and compilations which have been part of the first wave of german underground house music. in 2016 they reanimated their project and are currently working on new music while getting a repress of the much-wanted starship groupies ep.

light in the attic reissues their impossible to find 1969 album, originally out on third world recordings ! 5 on kurt cobains top 50 favorite albums. philosophy of the world is a collection of garage rock tunes that balanced charm and discordance in equal measure. in 1968, three sisters from fremont, new hampshire strapped on their instruments and declared themselves the shaggs. at that moment begun a peculiar tale that would last far beyond the groups five-year run. dot, betty and helen (and occasionally rachel, the fourth sister) played in the group on the insistence of their father, austin wiggin jr., who was convinced they were going to be big. years earlier, austins mother gave him a palm reading, predicting that her son would marry a strawberry blonde woman, that he would have two sons after his mother died, and that his daughters would form a popular music outfit. the first two became reality, so austin was certain the third would follow suit.

an obscure tape release discovery by red light radio founder and close friend of the label, orpheu de jong, led to music from memorys latest release. this two track 12inch highlights the work of electronic music pioneer joel graham, a san francisco based artist who self released two cassettes in 1984/85. originally recorded and performed live on pre-midi analogue equipment in 1982 as an outline for a live performance, these visionary tracks provoke much of the same sensibilities found in both contemporary dance music as well as in works of more established vanguard artists of the time. slowly unravelling and deeply hypnotic, joel grahams music seems to manifest a doorway to a profound new world and can be seen as a forerunner of what was to come in electronic music.

humanoid x is cpus deepest foray into detroit techno so far, from blixaboy aka mwanza dover texas based artist, friend of cygnus and very much part of the local electro scene. dover presents an album influenced by the pioneers of the hypnotic groove. on first pass you’ll find elements of krautrock through to the belleville three, all with finely crafted arrangements that reveal themselves in more detail on each listen. a cyberpunk theme runs throughout as blade runner-esque synths wash over the album evoking late night electric-city noodle restaurant contemplation. blixaboy has selected 4 of the more dj friendly tracks from the album for the vinyl e.p. treatment.

samuel walker aka deejay astral first emerged onto the scene in 2011 under the palace alias with a string of raw garage / house releases on dj haus’ unknown to the unknown & hot haus imprints. in late 2015 he made the switch over to his astral moniker to take his production in a deeper direction, since his switch he has released on shall not fade, w&o street tracks and now steel city dance discs. astral’s infectious brand of playful club music is perfect for the dance floor.
