massive attack release two brand new songs, ‘come near me’ and ‘the spoils’. both songs are written and produced by massive attack’s daddy g and collaborator stew jackson and feature vocals from ghostpoet (on ‘come near me’) and hope sandoval (on ‘the spoils’). these new songs follow january’s release of the ‘ritual spirit’ ep, which was written and produced by the band’s robert del naja and collaborator euan dickinson. the video for ‘the spoils’ stars cate blanchett and is directed by john hillcoat, best known for his directorial work on films such as the road, lawless and the proposition.

persian ahu karimi is a berlin resident. he began his musical exploits in a punk band in tehran but time and space and inertia have distilled his music into a rare spiritual essence, with a delicacy and evanescence like memory. the five tracks here have a gauze like quality.

built upon the rock of an early-era dancehall swing, their first single in conjunction with brooklyn-based imprint names you can trust entitled in this life, is a perfect slice of lover’s rock gone sideways, a decidedly left-coast piece of roots and bliss driven by adrianne delanda’s lovely lead vocals and the steady, dusty echoes of the locked in players. presented in the traditional format with a version as per nyct fashion, the dub mix incorporates a soothing dose of synare beams and underwater instrumental dreams.

it all began with a licensing inquiry for a sister funk cut which we wanted to include on our deep funk comp titled “feeling nice vol. 3”. after the deal was completed producer fred forsh mentioned that the backing band of nadine brown’s masterpiece “leave me alone” had released a 45 themselves under their name teakwood. after mr. forsh played us both sides we knew that this 45 would have to be re-issued. what was about to follow nobody of us ever expected. mr. forsh told us that teakwood recorded almost a dozen of songs which were supposed to be released on a full length album. for unspecified reasons the album was never released and it remained in the can for almost 40 years. finally, we are very proud to announce the release of teakwood’s debut album “a distant star” in early 2017. until then you have to be content with this 45 rpm single re-issue.

fans of tramp records may remember the band the bionic i. their song disco claus was featured on the third volume of santa s funk & soul christmas party. actually, the city news are none else than the bionic i! eric dunbar, member of both outfits, got introduced to the piano at age 5. in 1969 he started playing music with the city news band, a new orleans rhythm & blues band. bustin up is the side unless you like the kung-fu craze inspired chan the man that was around in 1975.

this monster 1976 lp from nassau s munnings brothers aka beginning of the end is a stone cold classic. fact. well deserving of a place in any record collection! this, their second lp (with 1971s infamous funky nassau preceding it) features the brothers original, fresh sound a mixture of tough funk rhythms, bahamian soul and flourishes of jazz and rock is an extremely well executed and produced body of work. not surprising considering the band were one of the bahamas foremost musical outfits. the brothers musical backgrounds could not have been any more fitting, they cut their teeth playing regularly alongside the likes of nat king cole and count basie at their fathers well known nightclub the cat and the fiddle, what we get on this lp however is not jazz, but lean, melodic soul music! original copies of this seminal lp can change hands for 100 s on the used/second hand market and is a solid constant at the tops of the wants lists of record aficionados. the lp has been illegally reissued numerous times without any care or attention being taken to retain or respect the quality of the amazing music contained within. not so on this occasion, this is a fully legit, sanctioned reissue done in conjunction and with the assistance of miami s tk disco empire. now is the perfect time to revisit the deep, soulful sounds of the munnings brothers endeavours, a truly sublime collection of songs, drenched in sunshine, masterfully produced and performed with pure vitality. a truly classic album. sounding as fresh as it did almost 40 years ago. jump in the water!

this is an official reissue of what am i gonna do for fun by the band pitch (1982 - new york city). this release also includes a fantastic remix or rework by tolouse low trax (toresch, salon des amateurs, düsseldorf). a few words from stuart shape, the producer: feels like it was done by another person. i remember getting the serge synthetiser to stay in tune was always a problem. we were fascinated with the new sampling that were just coming out, and kind of got carried away on the vocals. not sure what i was thinking about with the lyrics, guess maybe trying to figure out what i was supposed to be doing when i wasnt working or playing music unfortunately no other finished tracks from that era have survived. they recorded a lot, but finished and saved very little.

four never before released or publicly available demo cuts from the writing sessions of craig peyton and jolyon skinner circa 1983-1985. the duo produced and wrote hits for artists in between working on their own projects. these songs survived the past 30 years on a cassette tape, which was lovingly transferred for this exclusive to peyton records release. after their short but fruitful collaborative period, peyton went on as a writer and band leader and skinner went on to have a career as a songwriter for pop acts such as joe, nsync, and freddie jackson. in the words of craig peyton: “jolyon skinner and i met in the early ’80s through our mutual friend keith diamond (the trinidadian producer of hits such as “caribbean queen” by billy ocean). after we met, jolyon and i started regular writing sessions at my nyc p-factor studio. our first break came in 1983 with howard johnson’s “let this dream be real-. that was followed up with “love of a lifetime” by melba moore and “where ya gonna be tonight” for will collins. after this we were offered a recording deal by april blackwood music, but due to my contract with profile records at the time we couldn’t accept it. shortly after skinner got signed to zomba and we stopped writing together around 1985.

vor exakt 15 jahren wurde yann tiersen für seinen soundtrack zum spielfilm -die wunderbare welt der amelie- gefeiert. yann tiersen machte deutlich, wie man mit reduzierten musikalischen mitteln eine maximale emotionale wirkung entfaltet. und auch wenn die letzten drei alben -infinity- (2014), -skyline- (2011) und -dust lane- (2010) eine erweiterte musiksprache nutzen, die eine band mit einschloss, so ist yann tiersens tiefe und sein musikalischer mut auch in diesem zusammenhang zu spüren. -eusa- kehrt nun zum zeitgenössischen minimalismus zurück. ursprünglich wurde -eusa- als notenbuch für klavier veröffentlicht. als yann tiersen die stücke auf einer tournee vorstellte, bekam er lust diese für ein album aufzunehmen. neben der klavier-einspielung, die in den londoner abbey road studios entstand, unternahm tiersen auf ouessant field recordings. sie geben eindrücke von den verschiedenen plätzen auf der insel wieder, fangen das meeresrauschen, den wind, tierlaute und andere klänge ein.

kaiko haben ihre wurzeln im wildromantischen, südoststeirischen vulkanland. ihr pop-entwurf ist einer, der angenehm weit entfernt ist von der sensationslust der hyperventilierenden musikpresse - sie folgen lieber dem ursprünglichen entwurf des musizierens, songschreibens und geschichtenerzählens: kathrin kolleritsch & band erzählen uns aus dem leben - von geschwisterlichen beziehungsebenen, dem verarbeiten dramatischer familienereignisse, die sorge vor großen gesellschaftlichen veränderungen. dass dieses anti-modell nicht ganz verkehrt sein kann, beweisen mehrere faktoren eindringlich: die band hat sich in den letzten monaten ein beachtliches live-publikum zwischen wohnzimmerkonzert und festivalbühnen erspielt und wird mittlerweile von einschlägigen festivals ebenso gebucht wie von ausgewählten songwriter-clubs.

zarenzeit is a band project by the label owners with lead keyboarder and producer george btp, also known as allstarr motomusic or dan piu. after several live projects back in the 90ies, the band releases its first full album as black inside with vocalist debra jones davis and sarignia bonfà. the lp infuses deep soulful house and 80ies funk elements, starting with the ambient house drift of time travel, which soon settles into a classic rare synth pop as 2souls, 1heart, while let them know they won blasts more into the spacy and light dancefloor. sarignia s lovely gospel version of talk about a child, ends the album on a spare, but no less grooving, note. quality house music not only for adults.

die form is a french post-industrial and electronic band formed in 1977-1978. the name die form means (the) form/shape in german and is a play on the english homonym deformed and on the french homonym difforme (deformed). die form is the primary project of electronic musician and multimedia artist philippe fichot. he began by recording a number of experimental cassette releases in the late 1970s and formed the bain total label to release these early cassettes, as well as various side projects such as krylon hertz, camera obscura, eva-johanna reichstag, hurt and fine automatic.

over the last ten years, greg kozo released self-produced house music eps on his labels, place blanche or enchanté records, and toured the world with one of the most successful french electronic band between 2009 and 2015. 2016 marks the year of the release of his rst solo album due in october on roy music. melodic and deep-house oriented, the rst single release -you- comes with a video, shot, edited and directed by greg in bangkok, thailand.. -signs- is very characteristic of greg’s club culture, although lled with techno beats.&#8232, last but not least, i:cube (versatile) aka -one of the godfathers of the french touch- gives us a deep-house soulful version of -you-. hypnotic and extatic ! mixed by greg kozo / masterized by chab mastering.
