the latest offering from san franciscos icee hot label finds the young imprint officially welcoming another artist to its gradually expanding roster. that said, contakt isnt exactly a stranger. the michigan-reared, new york-based producer is one of the founders and resident djs at brooklyns turrbotax® party, which has long been a sort of sister party to icee hot. contakt has previously released music for respected outposts like local action, grizzly, and dutty artz, but nobody else and tessera 04 find him taking an important step forward as an artist, delivering tunes that are richer and more really realized than anything from his past. particularly on nobody else, contakts flair for big-room melody remains intact, but he takes notes from classic kms, filling out the songs cresting synths with a full-bodied bassline, a hooky vocal sample and a sturdy rhythmic underpinning. tessera 04 goes deeper, channeling maurizio while delving headlong into a dense cloud of synths and maintaining a steady sense of forward momentum. on the flipside, icee hot resident ghosts on tape continues his recent hot streak, infusing nobody else with punchy drumwork and a potent rave sensibility. detroit legend robert hood then rounds out the release, transforming tessera 04 into a pulsing and purring slice of heady analog techno.

blue hawaii, arbutus records and many of their montreal counterparts all began with the same breath in early 2010. to date blue hawaii has released an 8 song ep: in may of that year, blooming summer (arbutus records 2010) was recorded following the pairs travels in central america. it frames a time of warmth and novelty, featuring dense female harmonies, tape saturated synths, guitars and drum machines. eventually ra- returned to her role in braids, touring constantly, while ag– moved to europe, treading deeper into dance music, electronics, and production. the two decided to make untogether in 2012, they began recording on new years day in vancouver and intermittently worked on the project until summer broke in montreal. the music followed their winter in canada, it became colder, more introspective. it again captured a time and place, but instead of a dense saturation of love and excitement, this record reflects the vast world of self-awareness and delicacy.

official release of the previously unreleased album of the famous 12inch classic. asso the alter ego of italian producer victorio pezzolla is something like a italo disco one hit wonder. the do it again / dont stop 12inch has original been released in 1983 and is meanwhile one of the most sought after 12inch releases from italy. unfortunately the related album hasent been brought to the market back in the 80s. victorio pezzolla and private records rediscovered the original analog master tape some months ago in an archive of an italian publisher.the absurdity that the music has never been commercially released leads to the fact that this masterpiece, a complete unreleased original 80s album, will be brought to you fresh and unspent in 2012. italo disco, space funk and balearic grooves are combining to an unique italo disco release.limited to 300 copies

>a correction< is the new album from fieldhead and continues the dusty, bereft sounds of previous releases – they shook hands for hours (home assembly 2009) and riser (gizeh 2010). 2010 saw paul elam depart the uk for vancouver, canada and there is no doubt that the vast northern candian landscapes have influenced the new fieldhead material. the familiar tape hiss, scratchy, decaying atmospheres remain in place but with a correction elam has managed to sculpt a vaster, more expansive palate of sounds. minimalistic on first listen, a correction is a record which slowly unfurls on multiple listens to reveal subtle melodies and details that dont distract from the overal ambience but in fact set apart fieldheads music from many other, safer artists within the genre.
