the two french friends, siler & dima , have collaborated on phonogramme imprint to present you their 2nd release « friends chip » ep. a first release almost 2 years ago on their own label, popcorn records, siler & dima , took a little break from producing. when the two of them finally got back in the studio, they were unsure exactly what would result, but both wanted a return to their background and the music they like to work together. a music based on sampling, with a melting pot of jazzy & funk soul influences, from moodymann to gil scott heron or donny hataway. the result is here, with 3 groovy tunes, with a strong jazz touch, influenced downbeat of the 90’s. this friends chip release is also the fruit of several collaborations. in « the hunters » you can easily recognize the unique and sexy voice of chez damier, a key influence of the french duo. in “memoory” ,the young & talented paul cut brought his keyboard science , and le loup, one of the main highlight of the french scene, appears on the last track, « willie hutch”. to bring his music knowledge and groove to the original. the result is a beautiful ep truly “friendship”

with this ep best works records would like to pre-sent a new artist - luis junior. no stranger to the game! madrid-based luis junior has been a dj and music producer for more than 20 years. in 1993 he re-leased his first 12-inches starting to build a disco-graphy of genre-defying music that pushes forever forward, designing new stylistic frameworks and breaking new artistic ground with each successive production. luis has grown into one of the most cut-ting edge and inspiring artists in spanish electronic music. his versatile production skills are clearly displayed here from soulful and folkloristic influences to techno. the first track on the ep “don’t give up on me” fea-tures singer sobi thurairatnam with sultry vocals and a stong pop-appeal. d-nox and beckers tranform it into a club burner for the early hours. floidos on the back-side is more of techno-orientated banger and with pasion luis junior manages to integrate some spanish flamenco sounds without getting to obvious.

edna wright’s idiosyncratic “oops!” is one of the most sublime vocal refrains in soul music history. anchoring its host album’s leadoff cut, it sets the tone for a uniquely satisfying modern soul lp. indeed, whilst many of its ilk come laden with filler, wright’s one solo record is an exercise in elegant restraint, a concise killer. officially licensed and beautifully remastered for vinyl by celebrated engineer simon francis, it has been pressed on audiophile 180g vinyl for the first time and features the original iconic artwork. each copy includes a printed inner sleeve with a sumptuous black & white photo, full lyrics and heartfelt notes from edna herself.

the mythical transdance from uk duo night moves is given a much needed official repress by domestica records and the barcelona label have spared no expense. a limited pressing of 400 10-s come housed in hand screen printed sleeves accompanied by a leaflet with complete biography of the band. despite the paucity of night moves discography, it s clear the duo of michael guihen and john davis have had an everlasting effect on the canon of synth music with their much admired debut. transdance was originally released as a limited 12- white label in 1981, finding favour on the dance floors of europe and new york city yet never really gained the wider exposure it richly deserved. original copies of the gc1 pressing of transdance still command slightly ridiculous prices on discogs so kudos to domestica for this rather special presentation which features a previously unreleased demo cut -life up- on the flip.

billing themselves as crew of beat junkies raised in the legendary sugar shack studio,difusion make their first appearance on their own label in style with some righteous edits that make some decisive cuts where it counts for pure dancefloor dynamite. losing me is more of a rolling breakbeat inflected house workout with a deadly delay treatment on the vocals that drops in at just the right time to surely set a club off at any hour. get up is a more sultry cut but it still hits heavy, and be truthful and change it both offer up differing soulful angles to make this a highly versatile record for all kinds of situations.

lp reissues cut from the long-awaited 2010 digital remasters for the first time on vinyl and cd, original release from 1980. reissues of a legendary artist, pioneer of the french electronic music. the french proto-electro is making a come-back as we’ve seen it with the success of both cosmic machine compilations. their 7” “onyx” sold over 3 million copies worldwide. space art is behind the massive hits: “onyx”, “give me love”, “love in c minor” and more. one of half of the band, dominique perrier, is one of legend jean-michel jarre’s closest collaborators. recognized as a keyboard virtuoso, he worked on all jarre’s albums from “rendez-vous” (1986)to “oxygène 7-1” (1997) and still tours with him around the world. space art also toured with him in china in the early ’80s. alongside jean-michel jarre and cerrone they are one of the most influential bands that pioneered electro music.

2016 repress - following on almost 5 years after their first release *journey to the centre of the sun* on esp institute. 2 big excursions from a couple of very well respected heads. featuring the label’s very own tako reyenga (red light records, music from memory) and jonny nash (melody as truth, land of light) these two tracks were cut from a weekend of sprawling space-jams recorded in jonny’s north london home in 2012 and until recently were thought to be lost.

mono junk’s cult label dum records is back with a new five track various artists ep that again packs a vital punch. he appears himself along with some fellow legends of the scene. first up, morpholgy is a consistent performer who has continued to serve up quality electro since 2009 and here serves up a hot new piece. ‘vector plant’ is busy and industrial, slick and metallic as it unfolds and burrows deep into your veins. then comes the a2, irwin berg featuring freestyle man (aka finnish moodmusic boss sasse aka klas lindblad) with a track made in 1995 and never released before. this pair worked together and made a cult electro record for sähkö recordigs in 1998 and this one is just as impactful. it is frosty and frazzled, slow motion but high impact and full of distorted lines and heavy drums. next is mr velcro fastener who were the first kings of electro to come out of finland and between 1999 and 2006 were famous all over the world. their brand new cut ‘almost there’ is a deep one that is riddled with bleeping melodies and has smeared chords bringing a sci-fi feel. then it is mono junk’s turn to dive into the vaults with an unreleased track from 2005. ‘feeling or destroy’ is a physical number with crashing hits and snaking, gurgling bass that is dark and dystopian. last of all comes irwin berg with mono junk as new york city survivors. says the dum boss, “our unreleased track here was made after the new york city survivors – static light cd 2002” and it is a turbo charged track with screwed up grinding bass, icy hi hat rhythms and menace in its grooves.

silencio, a new label out of chicago, will debut its first release from new young talent cirq’on titled the other side ep. on the a-side, “screaming around”, makes its presence felt with a beefy bass line that periodically stacks and stutters throughout its progression. this track is impossible to resist. even the most hardened scenester, the type of person who never dances in an effort to look cool, will be forced to cut a rug as they acquiesce to the bombardment of this pleasing beat. peppered throughout with spooky vocals, tempestuous tones and mysterious snippets, it leads you down a path of rhythms that pushes past the point of no return. similar to the first transmissions intentionally broadcast out into our universe for the purpose of contacting intelligent life, “the messenger” delivers on the b-side with layers of haunting harmonies that unfold over simple, satisfying drums. it’s steadily driven by scintillating sounds in the form earthbased radio signals that rise and fall, as if bouncing off of orbiting space debris on their journey to the great unknown. this track is best described as a mind-exp.

the new offshoot of isaiah tapes - baptismo alpinismo - presents brooding soundscapes in a 7-inch red-marbled cut. the two pieces by arnheim work as soundtracks for individuals braving themselves towards self discovery within the structures of the concrete jungles.

repress !!absolutely flawless boogie sounds on nycs sam records from 1982, greg henderson s -dreamin- was licensed from the tiny rain records label and no doubt gained some invaluable exposure to the early 80s post disco club scene that was in full swing at that time. breezy, soulful, sweet and most importantly of all funky, dreamin is an absolute pleasure to the ears. greg henderson only released a handful of records during his career (including the incredible henderson & whitfield - dancing to the beat) and was also involved in the production of some other classic boogie rarities (masterforce -dont fight the feeling, rome jeffries good love).dreamin has always been a sought after record, often fetching collectors prices of £100 - £200 a time. a sublime cut for all lovers of disco, boogie, funk and modern soul. now made available again, legitimately licensed, remastered and reissued in conjunction with sam records new york city.

a boogie classic from 81 on the legendary sam label out of new york city! k.i.d. is the production pseudonym of british library record stalwart and munich machine member geoff bastow. bastow s career has been an extremely colourful one seeing him work with various artists including amanda lear, elton john, donna summer and la bionda amongst many others. -hupendi muziki wangu?- is swahili for -you don t like my music?- and the track has long been a classic with underground disco/boogie aficionados for many years and has been a staple in the record bags of many legendary jocks since it s release 35+ years ago. on the flipside we are treated to -it s hot-, another sleek cut of early 80 s boogie perfection aimed squarely at the dancers. truthfully though, the a-side steals here the show here, take a listen - you ll see what we mean! reissued in conjunction with sam records, new york city. fully remastered with all original 1981 label artwork intact. file under - *essential disco*

massive mix alert! -it s party time tonight!- - nyc mix maestro mike maurro has turned in a storming, 14+ minute version of patrick adams classic -weekend- by phreek, a true blue club classic from 1978 (later covered by class action, sampled by todd terry etc) -weekend- was an absolutely huge paradise garage staple getting unlimited spins from larry levan during the club s lifespan, the definition of a -garage- record indeed. maurro s new mix rearranges and deconstructs the original version with so much style, respect and feeling, using unheard synth vamps, string sections, percussions and breakdowns pushing it into a whole new direction while retaining the feel of the original mix. the track is already electric in it s original form but here mike maurro pushes the energy levels right through the roof, birthing a fresh new mix of a stone cold classic! on the b-side we have the low slung funk of the new birth s killer -deeper-, released in 77 as a single on promo 12- this cut gets the mm mix treatment, with the intro extended and the drums brought fully upfront in the mix mike has teased out all the best parts of the original arrangement while managing to stamp his always unique style on this new version. this midtempo groover is pure soul all the way, one for the serious dancers that keeps rolling itself along into one of the most solid, funkiest grooves ever! simply put, another set of essential mixes from a modern day master! file under - *essential disco*

lord of the isles, a.k.a. neil mcdonald, has spent the better part of a decade steadily producing and releasing beautiful music. the esp institute has always wholeheartedly believed in neil’s work ethic and his journey as an artist who constantly refines his vision, and when we inevitably approached in hopes of working together, we were enamoured by the sheer breadth and depth of work he had in progress’. there are two types of artists. one internalises their process, endlessly perfecting their work while finding the endpoint a massive hurdle, in turn they produce immaculate yet very little art. the other is continuously inspired, so full of ideas they can barely work fast enough to articulate them all. the art becomes by-product of their larger trajectory and not just a collection of endpoints. lord of the isles seems to be both, always in an evolving state of process where the work is constantly shed to make way for the new layer growing beneath, yet he holds his cards closely, cherry picking when and with whom he releases his art into the world. neil is simply prolific. he shared with us a vast catalog of unheard beauty, which over a long span of time was collaboratively shaped into his debut album “in waves”. the title speaks to neil’s process both intimately and from afar, it speaks to the emotional ebb and flow of the music itself, and ultimately it speaks to the listener. ahead of the album’s release, we are proud to share with you the single ‘weh-in’, a mesmerizing arpeggio melody that opens and closes, purrs and barks, and plays nicely with its percussive accompaniment over more than 10 minutes. this lengthy single version of the track is joined by a dark and stormy, exclusive non-album cut entitled ‘pik’, as well as a big room rave remix by esp institute resident ian blevins, which take us to a slightly more frantic place while retaining the euphoric essence of the original.

over half a year has passed since loz s last outing on brooklyn s razor n tape but he s back on a solo tip with this 4 tracker of slightly deeper and more synth-driven cuts than we ve been used to this year from the man. slap dancer sets the tone with punchy drum & sample hits, easily the most club oriented of the bunch. duplicity sees loz back on that slightly funkier sound we have come to know of recent times, but with a little added dustiness. flavour adds a little extra sprinkling of dust with it s rolling drums and chords - proper chillin basement tackle. be sure to check that b2 cut sunset vista for that slow, machine driven & synthed out acid jam as well.

alan arbelaez makes his first outing on vinyl, launching the keepers of the wild label with a forthright selection of rave minded goodies pitched at the darker side of the dance. -ravejavik- revolves around terse breakbeats and uneasy dx7 keys, making for a most intense of club workouts pitched at an even tempo. -downton abbey trax- equally keeps the tempo slow and deadly as a hailstorm of rave tropes meet with emotive string samples, while -hidden agenda- explores paranoid house with pan pipe leads flown in over the top. the release rounds off with -matrix wave-, a more meditative, dubstep flavoured cut showing another side to this emergent artist.

richy ahmed launches his new imprint, four thirty two, with a self-produced two-track single, “put me in a trance”, featuring the vocal talents of gloria adereti and a collaboration with up and coming producer, janson. the new label is a back to basics, analogue vision, directed by richy, which will include original material, unearthed and undiscovered artist appearances, and remixes from the richy and janson alias love hurtz, as well as featuring a variety of vocalists from surrounding circles. each release will have a clear focus on the sound of vinyl and clean-cut imagery presented with each record.

hotflush are proud to introduce an exciting young artist, pyur, along with her singular debut lp epoch sinus. despite her relative newness, pyur meets the world with fully formed and unique signatures in both visual and sonic work, revealing a deep artistry that transcends medium. growing up in munich, in and amongst the same fecund scene that spawned artists like the zenker brothers and skee mask, pyur cut her teeth from a young age as a guitarist and singer before becoming spellbound by the electronic world’s endless scope for sound design. endowed with innately strong synaesthesia and reared in a shamanic household, she tells how music “played the biggest role in my growth. it alone had the purpose to help me dissolve boundaries, discover the beauty of life’s mechanisms, create freely. it talked. soon i felt like the music was making me, not the other way round.” epoch sinus is a seamless and heartfelt whole, a life-like being unto itself, describing the disintegration of barriers between the self and the all. here pyur offers an intimate and personal statement, combining knowledge of universal harmony with electronic music. she states: “i m mainly influenced by my inner visions and nature itself, yet also a lot from club culture, which is undoubtedly an important space of connection and freedom for so many people”. the record dances playfully between supposedly incompatible qualities: moments of brutality turn to softness, new life embraces decomposition, while explosive rhythmic and melodic structures are tempered with gentle and subtle percussion.

the eleventh release on romb is a wild yet beautiful mini compilation, combining detroit and chicago vibes with uk breakbeats and a dash of melancholic electronica: a generous ep with dj friendly tracks that will also work perfectly at home. the a-side starts off with a detroit flavored acid house groover by new artist almost automatic, followed by solarity, a stormy, break-ridden dance stepper with an epic feel. on the flipside sean dixon, well-known from releases on clone and rawax as well as his own final chapter imprint, delivers a clean-cut italo infused chicago house gem. the ep ends with a beautiful, melodic down-tempo synth journey by daniel savio. all in all a diverse and playful ep with old-school vibes, yet with fresh twists and turns. limited to 200 copies only, this is a gem not to be missed.

elocution, the third figure ep from portuguese producer lewis fautzi, again displays a high defree of versatility but still comes cleary cut for the club. employing a rich yet spacious sound design, fautzi creates cinematic scapes that are at once both brimming with the hums of colossal interstellar machinery yet at the same time leave enough room for a range of carefully sculpted elements to do their work. whether it be the twisted acid arpeggio on opener shizophrenia, the imposing drones underscoring the mighty mirror or the propulsive percussion of centerpiece 37b. testament to fautzis talent of engaging arrangement, never do the tracks here feel hurried nor do they become stagnant - but rather given just the right time to ripe into their full captivating potential. no matter if one is to approach this records as already an avid lover of lewis fautzis work or comes to it simply looking for fresh takes on the classic formula, this enthralling ep certainly will satisfy everyones needs.

ats everything makes his much-anticipated edible label debut with the girl powder ep, his first release since january of this year, and the first to land on his own imprint. comprising two new tracks, ritas e and veronica electronica. 2016 has already been a huge ride for the bristolian dj & producer extraordinaire along with huge club cuts the duster (featuring green velvet) and big discs, remixes for disclosure and green velvet (taking the classic) flash track to dizzying new heights), eats mixed the 86th edition of fabrics fabled compilation series back in february. and as the edible label edges towards its first anniversary, a slew of highly well received releases from the likes of rhythm masters, jesse perez, lauren lane, lord leopard and brett johnson, have established the imprint as a consistent force for quality house music. with its infectious bassline, dubbed out keys and vocal call to arms, ritas e find eats on top form, carving out an energetic and funky club cut, whilst veronica electronica gets deep, down and twisted with its duetting vocal delivery, hard hitting drums and rave-esque sirens.

doktu rhute muuzic (formerly roy hytower) has enjoyed a full career from his late teens to this present day, a career that spans over 50 years. his first experiences were singing around mobile, alabama. in 1962 he came to chicago, replacing mighty joe young as rhythm guitarist for otis rush. often adopting a soul-slanted sound, hytower cut a handful of 45rpm singles in the 1960s and 70s for several local labels such as avin, expo, brainstorm, and jiffy. in june 2016 his tune “song of deliverance” was featured on tramp’s “peace chant- compilation. in recent years roy hytower has self-released a couple of cds, however under his new moniker, doktu rhute muuzic. “i’m in your corner” and “tip jar” were released on two different cd albums. this is the only chance to get these two wonderful tunes on vinyl. don’t miss it!

it all began with a licensing inquiry for a sister funk cut which we wanted to include on our deep funk comp titled “feeling nice vol. 3”. after the deal was completed producer fred forsh mentioned that the backing band of nadine brown’s masterpiece “leave me alone” had released a 45 themselves under their name teakwood. after mr. forsh played us both sides we knew that this 45 would have to be re-issued. what was about to follow nobody of us ever expected. mr. forsh told us that teakwood recorded almost a dozen of songs which were supposed to be released on a full length album. for unspecified reasons the album was never released and it remained in the can for almost 40 years. finally, we are very proud to announce the release of teakwood’s debut album “a distant star” in early 2017. until then you have to be content with this 45 rpm single re-issue.

the next alien jams 12” is from rkss, entitled cutoff ep. these four tracks were recorded in 2014 within a period of two weeks, using a juno-60 and vermona retroverb lancet. perhaps their most dance-able release to date, cutoff interweaves aquarian dream-like electronics throughout soggy percussion and glistening chimes. propelling the listener forward, rkss churns through water-logged signals, while synths cut through in gusts of euphoria.

nachtbraker is back! its been a huge year for the amsterdam deep house juggernaut who returns to dirt crew with his all new and colorfully titled really ties the room together ep. constantly on the move, hes found time between touring throughout europe, asia and south america to continue to push his a-typical house sound forward with this years heist release and his quirky jam busy bee that was featured on our deep love 100 compilation. this three tracker is jam packed with bouncing club tunes and a whole lot of flange. things kick off with the title track really ties the room together. it twists and turns over an unconventional but irresistible groove, shimmying shakers, brass stabs and a serpentine riff work together creating a super tight dance floor cut. rew begins somewhere in deeper territory, suspense building beneath the clouds, a rumbling bass rolls in from over the horizon before a glorious funk guitar blows the whole thing wide open, letting the suns rays burst through and that familiar nachtbraker good time energy shine in. the rerub of rew is something altogether new from our deep house protagonist, a break beat and casual groove guide gently towards an ever intensifying acid trip. dont be fooled by the lovely deep chords, things get nasty in the end. its best to expect the unexpected from our adventurous resident producer, and this ep is no exception.

newborn munich based label slam city jams comes around the corner with its first release from young gun gonima straight outta montreal, canada. his grids ep? an exciting mixture of swinging distorted drums, catchy melodies and hazy atmospheres. you can definitely spot gonima s passion for dx7 adventures, analog drums and tape hiss right here. opener -grids- starts off with lush synth blips, 707 drums and a bassline bootsy collins would give high-fives for. -subdivided- is one of these tracks that shows you that it doesn’t need more than a few elements to get you going: a rough kick drum, cowbells and a smooth pad that gets slapped by just one bass note. the last original on b2 is the ambient-like -organ tutorials-, which shifts your mind directly to outer space. and as if all this wasn t enough, someone really special did a great remix job – khotin from 1080p fame, who gave the a2 cut a treat with his unique trademark sound. four house and ambient tracks both for the floor and the couch. or as gonima puts it: -an ep that has the sound of visiting home in the winter and rediscovering environments frequented in the past, birthing previously obscured memories. the sounds within are a ritual dance to stay warm through the procession of the seasons-

path records, old school brooklyn based leaders in underground psychedelic techno, keep up the twelve inch pressure with a brand new ep from their label-head reade truth. picking up where his recent n-syde records left off (“stares to upstairs”, “blessings of luh”), the 3 track ep abounds in sci-fi techno themes while taking root in a somewhat housier rhythmic structure. the ep begins with the dark, mysterious “omm 0910” where whispered female dialogue and a powerful bassline are combined with cut up efx, trickling liquid soundscapes and solid 909 programming.
* a bump of house* develops around a hypnotic bass line and intricate deep synths and strings, similar to earlier path releases. “drop and see” dives the tempo to 110 bpms and is a mechanical industrial/synth styled number with a clever, hypnotic progression. overall, this ep offers another vital and varied selection of tracks from truth, who is known for providing refreshing and unique ideas throughout his career, including seminal releases on labels like planet e, sonic groove and strictly rhythm. limited to 350 copies, first 200 include a 12×12 graphic insert.

this monster 1976 lp from nassau s munnings brothers aka beginning of the end is a stone cold classic. fact. well deserving of a place in any record collection! this, their second lp (with 1971s infamous funky nassau preceding it) features the brothers original, fresh sound a mixture of tough funk rhythms, bahamian soul and flourishes of jazz and rock is an extremely well executed and produced body of work. not surprising considering the band were one of the bahamas foremost musical outfits. the brothers musical backgrounds could not have been any more fitting, they cut their teeth playing regularly alongside the likes of nat king cole and count basie at their fathers well known nightclub the cat and the fiddle, what we get on this lp however is not jazz, but lean, melodic soul music! original copies of this seminal lp can change hands for 100 s on the used/second hand market and is a solid constant at the tops of the wants lists of record aficionados. the lp has been illegally reissued numerous times without any care or attention being taken to retain or respect the quality of the amazing music contained within. not so on this occasion, this is a fully legit, sanctioned reissue done in conjunction and with the assistance of miami s tk disco empire. now is the perfect time to revisit the deep, soulful sounds of the munnings brothers endeavours, a truly sublime collection of songs, drenched in sunshine, masterfully produced and performed with pure vitality. a truly classic album. sounding as fresh as it did almost 40 years ago. jump in the water!

new sounds from an old friend... i d been running franklin de costa s records for years, but after i played for his party in berlin a few years back we kept in touch. he runs a club night called mother s finest which puts on artists like tessela, truss, untold, dj fett burger and more, as well as releasing singles under his own name on labels like killekill and curle, and, as mudkid, beautiful tracks on greta cottage workshop. the three trax built for this ep on not so much are, like anything fresh and futuristic, hard to pin down in words. sssooo is a kind of detuned chattering b-boy cut that slides sideways between dimensions while always driving forward. mldk is another one for any dancers with moves.

having lurked around murky corners of the grubby industrial techno realm for the past year or so, pavel milyakov builds on his rapidly swelling discography with this transmission for public system. it s the second release on the label following a strong opening salvo from dj spider and greypeople, and this 12- offers up further forthright club-wreckers that balance taut functionality with production flair. opening cut -strainn- delivers bludgeoning electro from the netherworld, which ekman then dutifully reworks with an added eerie tension. there are edgy arpeggios aplenty on -trance t- and warmer tones in -augusts 13-, rounding out an essential slab of serious techno tackle.

two great previously unreleased vocals from norris reid! the deep well of the channel 1 lost & found series goes further, with some awesome previously unreleased early 80s tracks from norris reid. since unfortunately there was no dub available for the killer frustration, digikiller has included another cut on the same great rhythm by wayne smith, lifted from his showdown lp.

hard previously unreleased dubplate cuts on side a, i roy vocal & dub on the same rhythm on the b-side! legendary channel 1 dubplate music. this version of -free black man- by earth & stone was scrapped for release in favor of the softer version that eventually appeared on their -kool roots- album, but this heavy cut achieved infamous dubplate status thru play on uk sound systems. in the case of this tune, it seems only dubwise cuts made the rounds, as we ve not heard (or heard of) a full vocal. and like many tunes not pegged for release from back in the day, mixdown masters were never kept, so only dubplates remain to haunt us. here you get two hard dubwise cuts, remastered from dubplate (punters beware!), raw as ever. on the flip side, i roy s vocal, the only released cut on this rhythm, as well as the only released dub, as appeared on the -musical dub attack.-

future times is back at you with more hot wax!! dc s own ov, who came correct with the opening cut on our vibe 3 compilation, shares this 12- with diego (also known as dude energy, suzanne kraft) and together they lift off into the atmosphere with two dope cuts. big tip! . ov s -perc song (chords)- sets a perfect, humid scene full of string licks and syncopated chunk, before it rinses the -(chords)- and cools way out, setting the scene for -crack- on the flip. diego s track climbs all the way up, cutting in slippery drums and arpeggios underneath the floating, soaked synths, before the end of the tune gives way to pure pad bliss.

• our next release sees the welcome return of dez williams. since his first ep on the label in 2013, a lot has happened for the welsh wizard. releases for shipwrec, bedouin, new flesh and bass agenda have followed, while his reputation as a killer live act has continued to grow. opening with lumphammer, dez harks back to a time when big, brooding basslines were king. add in whistling keys, tribal percussion and a few well-timed breakdowns, and you have what is surely one of his biggest tracks to date. order to fight takes a more aggressive route - a vocal-fused slab of raw acid, it leads nicely onto the flip, where kabin feeva s wild roaring synths are tuned specifically for the headstrong. work like crazy meanwhile, sees dez return to his roots with a bass heavy cut of crunched electro, doused in a dark filtered vox.

niro perrone better known as simply niro, or easy to remember, alongside sibling and production partner elia perrone, has come a long way over the past few years stacking up releases on the likes of m50’s revered kimochi sound, sound of vast, memento and the dub, as well as releasing his debut lp on his unclear imprint. here though we see niro introduce a new chapter with his brand new label pads.
‘hands of shadow’ opens the release and sets the tone of the label from the very beginning with an understated melodic feel fused with raw percussion and a subtly evolving yet intricate structure. ‘inner space’ follows and wanders into dub territories with spiralling echoes, low-slung drums and ethereal atmospherics. title cut ‘pieces of you’ opens the flip side and lays focus on an infectious unfaltering groove via vacillating pad swells, sporadic jazz licks and a weighty 4/4 drive before closing cut ‘the spectrometer dance’ rounds it all off with some ambient vibes.
