a shimmering piece of gold - discos dorados is a 4 track va e.p. brought to our shores by the lovedancing adventurers. felipe gordon & vagabundo club social open up the e.p. marrying dreamy arps and luscious rhodes stabs, with tribal-esque chanting to create an exotic, bubbling groover. eddie c then ramps up the disco flavour with his stomp mix of the original introducing a phased upbeat hook and choice horn samples, isolating out elements before unleashing a killer keys solo over the top. flip it and sleazy mcqueen & vagabundo club social bring the heat with chips y salsoul , blending jazzy chords and echoed out trumpets evocative of a mexican fiesta after one too many tequilas. to close it out eddie c rides off into the sunset sampling a vocal dialogue that wouldn t be out of place on a moodymann record, alongside succulent strings and crisp percussion - reminiscent of the jazz infused, mpc laden house of the moomin s of this world.

originally released in ‘06/’07 as the appetizer to only built 4 cuban linx ii, the vatican mixtape series consists of a vast collection of unreleased tracks, wu & solo classics (“shame on a ni**a”, “diesel”, “ghetto boy”, & “yae-yo”), as well as some of rae’s best guest work through the years (“the heist”, “brown paper bag”, & “bump bump”). volume 1 features verses from busta rhymes, roc marciano, nas, & several wu-tang brethren including rza, ghostface killah, method man, & ol’ dirty bastard. special guest production contributed by large professor, pete rock, madlib & scram jones. tying everything together is dj riddler, who weaves several skits & blends throughout, giving it that official mixtape sound. this 2xlp is the first time this volume and series gets pressed to wax, and features completely new artwork for a fresh look.

in a nutshell: mellow floating braindance, electro, quirky and wonky techno beyond standard schemes. a1 we start with sane - the hangover. this tune is made for quirkier techno sets. it is a funky wonky techno tune mocking around with a whistling lead synth on top of a tripped out beat. a2 next one is chordata - silent singer. electrobeats mark the rhythm for this progressive adventure into space. electro in the good old detroit or dutch fashion. a3 jochen heym is also featured twice on it. after his ep -sononaut- this time he brings a mellow braindance electro tune: floating soul b1 in addition b1 contains a remix of the cling clang ambient tune of the stonedwave005 => chip tronic transforms the ambient piece into a hectical electro tune. b2 b2 is the final tune. chip tronic - frequency modulated metallic wide hypnotic screaming leads are being carved into the listeners brain while being distrted and modulated by any means available. the number 18 implies => dark techno rhythms for wonky minds who love it more distorted.

mechatronica launches their new white series, dedicated to limited edition white label records across synth, wave, ebm and italo with a va release featuring inhalt, violet poison, sneaker and daniel holt.
mechatronica white 1 opens with sneaker’s gloomy remix of german synth-pop band opus leopard, followed by the electrifying instrumental version of “alles” - a relentlessly progressing piece of body music from san francisco trio, inhalt. on the flip, violet poison summons a fat, trippy ebm-leaning groove, before daniel holt finishes off the record with anthemic synths and a ticket to the cosmos on “floating mansions”.

mar & sol first release is aleluia lp from the cabo verde singer pedrinho. at the time, late 70 s, this lp was one of the biggest successes from cabo verde music. singer pedrinho moved to lisbon when he was 18 years old, and recorded this album, the first one of his career. aleluia was produced in the same street where mar & sol is based nowadays, in rua de s.bento, lisbon, portugal. this street was also where pedrinho come to live when he arrived in portugal, like the majority of the musicians and emigrants from the old african portuguese colonies move at that time, to try a new luck. a big community grew here and these artists got the opportunity to record their own traditional music by the hands of local labels. now is the time for mar & sol to give a new life to all this music, this is the first of many reissues that are coming to start the series of the label.

hundebiss bossman simone trabucchi - a pivotal figure of the italian scene - debuts his still alias on pan with a batch of banging, multi-layered dancehall tracks inspired by the complex historical links between his hometown, vernasca, with jamaica, and italy’s colonial past in ethiopia. part of a wider visual arts project, invernomuto, helmed alongside simone bertuzzi, and comprising a series of sculptures, installations, a book, and a long-feature experimental documentary under the title ‘negus’‘, simone takes cues from a “cleansing counter-ritual performed by lee ‘scratch’ perry in the vernasca square where 80 years earlier, an effigy of haile selassie i was burned” to cook up a madd set of dancehall tracks voiced by six milan-based, african-italian vocalists and singers...

it s 2017 and mindcut starts with a banger release from no one else than keepsakes. the new zealand-based producer - who already had his debut release on ansome s slam - opens the new year with a 4 tracker incl. ayarcana remix. a truly vibrant ep filled with hard industrial techno along some special chords.

mark rae is the man behind one of the key uk music movements of the last 25 years. as a founder of the shop fat city records and the label grand central, mark worked with some of the worlds biggest artists going on to earn several platinumm discs with his work as one half of the highly respected production duo rae & christian. this project is a worlds first autobiography and album, the release is packaged as a gatefold 10 inch which opens out to the book held within. the 40 000 word book covers the author mark rae s journey through the music industry. it follows the creation and dissolution of fat city and grand central records, rae & christian and yesking. the underground club scenes of manchester, gang wars, success, failure, working with bobby womack, jay z and the pharcyde. the project has been supported by whosampled, dj magazine, vice and the tate modern. the artwork is exceptional featuring an historical montage throughout the inner gatefold sleeve. the music features guest vocals from tony d who was a big influence in the original grand central records sound, soul king pete simpson, multi instrumentalist shawn lee and kate rogers.

der longplayer von 2006, mit dem tarrus riley den internationalen durchbruch schaffte, ist wieder als vinyl erhältlich! mit parables wurde der sänger zu einem der weltweit bekanntesten zeitgenössischen sänger des reggae, als produzent fungierte dabei dean fraser. dieser hatte die tuff gong und grafton studios angemietet (mit shane brown und rohan dwyer am mischpult) und mit einer ganzen armada an topmusikern den longplayer realisiert, der bis heute von vielen fans als das beste tarrus riley album gefeiert wird.

fantastic voyage’s autumn 2015 release of soul for dancers proved so successful, that we didn’t have to think twice when lois wilson (mojo, record collector) asked if she could do it all over again. it turns out that there were plenty more classic sides in her dj crates, drawing on that rich seam of early soul and proto-soul rhythm & blues, of the sort that would have packed the dancefloors on the sixties club scene, or has been embraced by subsequent generations of club soul diehards.
