medical records returns to france for the reissue of the very rare and sought-after video liszt lp. ektakrom killer was released in 1981 and had never had never been reissued or repressed. the artist behind video liszt was xol, a french journalist and musician. commanding a multitude of analog synthesizers, moog modulars, an ems vocoder, and an apple two computer, xol crafted a very diverse album with styles ranging from sci-fi synth soundtracks, prog, space disco, and all the way to more accessible electropop.

rich la bonte is a musician, writer and editor from upstate new york born in 1946. at age 11 he figured out how to record a piano backwards with his first tape deck and discovered monk, mingus and art blakey. in 1965 rich moved to ithaca, bought an electric guitar and started singing in garage rock band the huns. after the band dissolved, he moved to nyc and played bass and sang in the original cast production of the musical godspell. in the late 70s la bonte moved to hollywood with shari famous, released a a few 7” singles as dada2, and started flatdisk records, a vinyl subsidiary of dave gibson s moxie record company.

vandalaze is the solo project of the californian cory you, obsessed with video games, alternative retro sci-fi and 80’s californian aesthetics, his music is of a one-off and impossible to tag style, samplers and old rompler drum machines combined with funk, ebm, electro or 80’s house creating a mesmerizing avantgarde result. it arrives on ultra limited and ultra deluxe edition, including printed innersleeve with pictures of cory himslef on his daily life. certainly this is not a record for everyone, is a step forward for visionaire minds. a rule breaker sure classic for 2030. all tracks remastered specially for vinyl by eric van wonterghem at prodam studio (berlin).

informationstechno was released on cassette in 2014 via zeon light and it was nominated for best swedish dance album of the year at manifestgalan 2015. during 2015 the band received attention from swedish radio p2 and p3 and performed a series of gigs at home in stockholm. the second album informellt was released on lamour 2015 and a remix album called reformellt released early 2016. motormännen make information techno infused with an air of swedish nostalgia through a filter of retro-futuristic skepticism. the music is packed with minimal acid loops and samples with excerpts from swedish politicians, documentaries and christer glenning, reflecting on times when the cold war and the traditional welfare state were dissolving. inhibitions were relaxed and new, foreign influences crept into the body of society and the old information monopolies. motormännen s tracks are visually enhanced by messages from pictures and videos from the 1970s and 80s.

beranek’s debut album, “sound of danger”, was released on mind expanding records in november 1981. nowhere near as accessible as the previous single, the album fared poorly commercially. withdrawing from the single’s fun, kitsch pop, the album is cool and static, driven by thin rhythm boxes, cold synths, and glacial guitars. taking heavy cues from david bowie, all of the songs are sung in a nasally english accent, a rare occurrence in norway at the time. the lyrics are melancholic, but tinged with paranoia. there are also upbeat tracks that evoke a prog or glam sensibility a la king crimson, alan parsons, or roxy music. all songs have been remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. housed in the original jacket featuring red, black, and white lines that evoke a visualized richter scale designed by monica moltzau. each copy includes a 2-sided 8x11” insert with lyrics and an autographed press photo of beranek.

as we welcome another talented artist to our family we asked viken about the first part of a two part release and he told us it s really important to understand that this ep is a series of pictures telling a story. combining the names of all the tracks one gets this interesting and dreamy sentence, on a blue road a white shadow feels the winter. to translate these pictures into music, i needed a very particular sound. since i am a huge fan of jazz music i took one of my favorite records, used a lot of samples and reworked them in my own way. from the technical aspect, i decided to reconnect with my first love: analog machines. i love working with sound textures. i stayed away from my laptop and all my vst/plugins as i felt the need to compose these tracks in an unusual way: i wanted the sound to be really pure. that s the reason why this process was so essential for me. for me, this ep is the first one to sound like this. this is the first of two releases from a deeply talented soul. a patient collage of house, jazz, acid squiggles and deep emotion. played and loved all summer long by lee burridge at all day i dream, these tracks will stay with you through winter and into next summer.

rare and obscure boogie disco funk bomb from italy, recorded in 1981 but pressed in 1983 and featuring: roland zaniolo the lead voice of the italian disco-funk group of firefly. this release is a collector’s edition, limited to 300 copies like the first release but it comes with a nice picture cover artwork plus liner notes containing infos and pictures provided from the original producer.
