the foundation of this dub album was created by some of the finest sessions musicians ever to grace the studios of 1960s & 70s jamaica. their instruments were the cornerstone to countless dub lps that began to surface in the early 70’s and continued on into the 80’s creating a whole new genre of music. as they did back in the early days of dub, the kingston all stars gathered together in kingston, jamaica at mixing lab studios and laid down a series of riddims that would lay the groundwork for what comes next: the singers. both greenwich farm rasta, prince alla, and falsetto, cedric myton of the the congos, contribute vocals to the album but half of the riddims on this lp are, to date, unreleased, and have yet to be voiced. in essence, this album is a sneak peak into upcoming releases. the style of riddims that were created during these sessions range from the cumbia influenced reyes dub to the ethiopian jazz flavored kebra dub that pays tribute to the african sound system, kebra ethiopia sound and shows the wide variety of influences that fuel these musicians. tracks like dub ova combine ansel collins keyboard work with hux browns infectious grooves to create a funky rhythm that you have not heard the last of.

this is the fourth ep the paris legends dan ghenacia and chris carrier have made together over the last year, and it’s just as fresh as their previous efforts with plenty of bounce, depth and funk. first up on the a-side is ‘the blue grass’, a deeply sensual cut with a potent low end. therein lies the groove, which is utterly captivating – made to get you writhing with glee, this one is aimed straight at the hips. alongside that sleazy bassline we have jazzy notes, swinging percussion and otherworldly bleeps and chirps. all of which makes it a great intro to this sterling ep. on the flip side, we have ‘blue stick’, another ridiculously groovy riddim with warped voices floating above a set of crispy beats and a raw undercurrent of emotion. minimal in composition, and the effect is deadly. lastly, to close out the three-tracker, it’s ‘kind of blues’ (can you spot the theme here?!). when it starts off, this one is a stomper with a moody expression. the beats are hefty, the bass morose and the analogue effects strangely cosmic. more twisted vocals are filtered in the background, giving this one its weird hook. the vocal reveals itself in the breakdown midway through before the track bounds on to its finale. dan ghenacia and chris carrier deliver three firebombs, perfect dance floor material with tight grooves and killer production. would you expect anything less?! go get em…

this release was born of a cross country trip with an 808 drum machine by thomas ragsdale aka winter son, alongside jozef k, resident of famed manchester and ibiza clubnight sankey, as they join perseus traxx to hammer electricity out of machines. with it&#700,,,s rim shots and claps and other transistor rhythms reverberating across vast distances of space, side a is stripped back and deep from the outset, pushing forward as scattered tones, arpeggiations and disjointed voices leave their trails vanishing from perception. side b tightens up from the previous reverbs and throws acid into the mix, as the two join perseus traxx and the sound becomes more raw and urgent as the three of them jam on their chosen machines.

we have started a new project from a new part of finish team records only on vinyl. for the first release we have made a 4 track e.p. with the main artists of the label: manu p, andrea rubolini, aumrec & gabriele orsini. first track is composed by manu p, and is named el torito. is the perfect track for the summer time, with a latin tech house with a huge bass and melodic voice, perfect for the middle of the night set. the second is a track by andrea rubolini (the crowd), also here a huge bass during all the track and a melodic synth that characterized the track. the third track by aumrec (elonove), is more techno, with lot of strange and secret minimal part and a solid and fresh kick. gabriele orsini also composed the fourth track (the suspect), a techno and intense travel trough the dark techno scene.

marking the start of an exciting new collaborative project, wolf + lamb proudly share the debut release of the waves & us. formed out of a creative meeting of minds between maayan nidam, markus nikolaus and louis mcguire, theirs is a sound that strengthens the storied approach of a live band with the experimental thrust of analogue electronics. pop and rock fundamentals lend an earthly hook to the tracks, but these are anything but straight-forward songs. maayan has already forged a formidable career in electronic music, both under her own name and as part of mara trax, scoring releases on such celebrated labels as perlon. markus performs his own solo project cunt cunt chanel, while louis is part of ballet school, a band releasing on noted indie label bella union. the whirlwind of creativity that has whipped up around the trio has yielded an album which will follow this single, made up of one-take recordings that capture the energy and adventure that powers the waves & us. maayan s electronics provide the atmospheric backdrop to the songs, running modular synthesisers and drum machines through detailed chains of processing and effects with an emphasis on a warm, charmingly rough finish. markus guitar undergoes a similar fuzzy treatment while his voice calls out introspective, abstract lyrics to set the mind racing. louis bass underpins the music with a dubby sensibility, bringing a necessary balance to the frequency range. making the most of their in-the-room recording approach, the singles will feature alternative takes of the songs that will appear on the album, providing a little insight into the flutters and fluctuations that shape the development of this project. with their eyes fixed on live performances and an arresting sound already formed, this is a vital time for all three artists and the people that listen to them.

gerome sportelli presents sporty limited, a new record label managed by himself as a limited vinyl series. after big success with his krax records in 2004, veteran gerome sportelli is back with a new label project. the genre of the label swings between dance floor oriented house and techno, with a touch of acid and of course some dusty old school flavours. gerome’s already active in the music industry since the early 90’s as a producer, dj, label manager, party promoter and graphic designer. his music ‘smells’ old school, just like the early age of acid house, but infused with today’s intelligent constructions and an engaged vision on music. gerome’s music is made from bronze age analogue synths, love, passion and modern digital mixing techniques.for this first sporty limited release, gerome comes out with three stylish tracks. the first track, a side “drive”, is a fat house stomper with strong stabs and female voice hits. the break is intense and works effectively on packed dance floors. b1 is called “free range” and feels like summer. it’s full of classic house sounds, filtered strings and hypnotic loops. this is a chicago­styled, disco sampled, deep and classy house track we love and cherish. the b2 track, “don’t go”, is composed with a classic house bass, shuffled 909 drums and dark space strings. you’ll immediately recognize the deep and melodic detroit house sound.

the deep house is the genre of reference that the author aims to customize in his title track >say what<. it is a ganglion of rhythm and foggy atmospheres where a voice reproduces a sort of rhyme. it is pretty similar to >revenge<, where the loop cyclic effect is preferred to another though, and where the voice (reduced to a sharp tip) pierces the four quarters in place of the snare drum. both tracks are presented in their remixed versions: the first made by julie marghilano and the second by matthew burton.
