fresh off the chicago basement trax re-issue of heart attack (previously on relief) vincent floyd drops another classic ep, this time on underground trax ltd. this amazing 12- was originally released by subwoofer in 1996! back in the 90 s subwoofer made tons of noise with releases from house heroes like kerri chandler, chris gray, ron trent and dj pierre. grab this right now! re mastered by curve pusher, london and officially licensed!!

german producer christian burkhardt teams up with fellow countrymen chris wood & meat for a three-track release on jamie jones hottrax this may. burkhardt has been flying the flag for minimalist electronic music for a decade now, releasing on labels such as cocoon, oslo and pressure traxx. likewise, freebase records founders meat + chris wood have been purveying deep and minimal cuts individually since the ‘00s, joining forces in 2009 before releasing on labels like desolat, housewax and tiefschwarz souvenir. between the three of them theyve continually garnered support from the upper echelons of house and techno, making regular appearances in the sets of names like ricardo villalobos, sven väth, seth troxler and jamie jones. intricate percussion and a compelling bassline make up the foundation of closer 2 u as an echoing vocal and tense strings operate throughout. meanwhile, plain is a more downtempo cut in comparison with its dusky atmospherics and distorted spoken word samples that subtly permeate throughout the mix. on the flip, trumpad is deep and dubby whilst integrating trippy synths and mesmerizing effects for a rhythmic conclusion.

fresh off of a pair of well-received eps on his recently-launched manhigh imprint, berlins highly respected techno auteur henning baer makes his first appearance on nonplus with 4 excellently crafted, saturated machine techno tracks on the idea of instinct. following on feelings suggested in the title, the ep opens with a pair of more contemplative pieces: the title track’s spare arrangement puts mechanical rhythmic drive behind its exploration of dusky electronic atmospheres, while the feeling of dna is both brighter and slightly pacier, its hypnosis deriving from the pads and synthesizer sequences that circle the drums. ccc ii takes a darker approach to a similar idea, this time with the suggestion of polyrhythms in the distant and heavily-treated percussive elements circling in the background behind uneasy ambience. it builds to the closer spiritual quest, where overlaid rhythms in 3 and 4 are not easily reducible and create the tension at the track’s centre driving it to its conclusion.

joey negro und sean p sind nicht nur leidenschaftliche plattensammler, sondern auch ein geschmackssicheres kompilations-duo. als solches haben die beiden engländer in den letzten jahren die legendären sampler-reihen “disco (not disco)”, “destination boogie” und “the soul of disco” auf die beine gestellt. letztere erlebt mit der doppel-lp “the soul of disco vol. 1” einen zweiten frühling. die zusammenstellung, die als gatefold-platte auf den markt kommt, enthält zehn ausgesuchte stücke der ersten “the soul of disco”-fassung von 2005, die damals als 2cd mit insgesamt 23 tracks erschien, und die joey negro und sean p ganz besonders am herzen lagen. selbstredend handelt es sich dabei um songs extrem seltener und damit extrem kostspieliger 12”es, die allein bei ausgewiesenen disco-connaisseuren im plattenschrank zu finden sind. die kollektion spannt mit sechs original-raritäten und vier dj-freundlichen edits von joey negro und sean p einen bogen über die jahre 1976 bis 82.

picking up where they left off three years ago, modern heads, the much-respected collaboration between gianluca meloni and dino sabatini, are back with a dynamic and intriguing four track ep. the duo go straight in here with the club-ready athena. throughout this track, tight percussive elements wind in and around one another, creating an ever-changing rhythm that you can only just hold onto. under this, tense synths pulse away, producing an opaque and insular atmosphere. next up, eumaeus lightens the mood somewhat, providing clarity with a distinct opening drum pattern. this mood doesnt last long though, as indiscernible, haunting vocals begin to echo in the distance, gradually moving closer and further in the mix as sharp pads swoosh either side. side b of the record opens with the deepest and longest track of the ep, eurycleia. simple yet unrelenting drums frame this hypnotic sci-fi episode, through which otherworldly screeches and rumbles reverberate over the twinkling sounds of machines. eurycleias atmosphere continues straight into the final track, laertes theme. this beatless piece takes eurycleias exploratory mood and extrapolates it over five and a half minutes, resulting in what feels like the perfect soundtrack to a glacial expedition in alien territory. as an ep this is a complete and coherent package, a perfect extension to modern heads previous work. the sound palette is familiar, yet refined, developed upon and taken further. the old beggar is undeniably worth the wait for anyone with a taste for the extraterrestrial.

the first instalment on dutch label talaman. newcomer and label owner sota shows his class by delivering a varied ep containing everything from sturdy house groovers to layered atmospheres. substance , access and quadrant cover the more dance-floor focused part of the ep, but make sure to listen to closer as well, the space-minded track built around dreamy melodies and low-slung percussion.

with two releases already under his belt on clone, gary gritness aka slikk tim lands on hypercolour with the sugar cane chronicles vol. 1. gritness may be a relatively new name on the block, but his session work for artists like kenny bobien, louie vega and grant nelson has marked up this multi-instrumentalist as a clear talent. hailing from france, gritness had been spotted by underground resitances mad mike banks as one to watch, and on his hypercolour release, displays a deft hand of producing futuristic funk sounds. a spot on blend of raw drum programming and blissfull jazz funk riffs, preachin some tight game sets the eps tone just right with its infectious melodies and cruising groove. darker 1980s soundtrack vibes are explored on stayin strong hand with its thick analogue atmosphere, whilst the laid back and freestyle vibes of working girls demands to be played in the cadillac with the top down! ep closer, fly shit, continues with the tranquil melodies and g-funk factor.

2016 repress.. these reworks by the revenge (soul heaven, jisco music) & greymatter (mr bongo, unique uncut) present two unique interpretations of the original, the revenge strips the track down into one of his trademark slamming mid tempo grooves, whilst greymatter keeps it closer to the original but adds a new level of drama for the dance floor. side b introduces a new talent to the scene – krl. playing on samples and influences from the soul scene and restructuring and resurrecting them as modern dance floor bangers, krls tracks are already creating a big buzz. the massive recession beat has been in constant demand since its first initial promo airings and the storming remember (greymatter rework) is also set to do big things.

rezzett are arguably one of the trilogy tapes goto acts. the london duo has previously released a trio of impressive, off-kilter eps of fuzzy house and techno jams for will bankheads much-loved imprint. happily, zik zak is every bit as essential as their previous material, expertly blurring the boundaries between techno, experimental electronics, and distorted hardcore. while the drowsy-but-sweaty hey hugo all sampled vocal yelps, sweeping chords and clattering percussion is probably the most obviously ear-catching of the four cuts, theres plenty to get excited about elsewhere. check, for example, the intricate electronics and eyes-closed loveliness of the title track, and the fluid melodiousness of opener afyon or, for that matter, the comforting bliss of ep closer noklue.

goldmin music label founder romain lanteaume alias einka meets detroit minimalism master terrence dixon aka population one for a truly conceptual techno 12-.. terrence dixon is one of our favorite artists and biggest inspiration.. detroitborn artist released his first 12- back in 1994 followed by several quintessential records and 2 epic albums -from the far future- on legendary berlin-based label tresor. terrence is not only a great techno producer who makes subwoofers roar in clubs, he is a man obsessed by a concept, an idea that he s following from the very beginning.. -minimalism- in the reaaaaal sense of the word.. for example, when thousands producers are wondering what s eventually missing in their new track, terrence is rather wondering what s useless, what could be removed and that s definitely what he gets to share on his own -reduction- imprint. after the release of terrence s track -steve austin s mile- on goldmin theme lp, romain got to meet him in detroit during summer 2014. the aim was to make an abstract record that could still be linked to a feeling or a situation.. a1 the edge track is probably a good example as it s designed and built to make you feel like you get closer and closer to the edge while the track is slowly growing until you fall.. can you feel it? :) as for the other tracks, there is also a special idea behind them but we better let you interpret it your way

ok, we are quite slow on releasing records, but here is our next release on film. we stumbled upon the artist on a reseach for a music video - in the end we didn t discover a video director, but denial.of.service, an artist in many fields including music, video and performance art. as he ist active since the early eighties, he was involved in numerous projects, doing productions, remixes and videos for and with artists like david bowie, attrition extrawelt and daf. if you take a closer look on his artistic activity since the early 80ies ever then you will quickly realize there is a whole universe to uncover foald from around this artist. our suggestion: start with this fine ep, featuring a hidden secret artwork that unveils in the dark.

long-serving brit in san diego james clements dons his familiar asc guise once more, for a typically atmospheric trip into deep, ambient-influenced abstract techno for canada s silent season imprint. as usual, there s much to admire, from the sparse percussion, glacial electronics and icy melodies of deep freeze, to the minimalist, modular sounding hum of closer raging seas. arguably best of all, though, is immersion, which sees clements expertly combine early 90s style dreamy ambient chords, textures and melodies think pete namlook or early irresistible force with scraped metal textures and impeccable idm beats

pablo and shoey return just in time for festival season with 4 new bits for the front of your box. e-man groove is a massive disco-rock jam that could have been sprung from the minds of dem idjut boys, with sympathy for the devil style percussion and wild guitar riffing driving the whole thing. blazing sunshine, meanwhile, is a funky, hammond organ led version of let the sunshine in, a guaranteed hands in the air moment when dropped at the right time. disco treat is more of a modern floor-burner, closer to straight production edit with a bouncing bassline and all manner of whacked out disco sounds in the mix, not to mention breakdowns for days. rounding off the package is some classic funky soul breaks - the lads tear a chunk off bettye lavettes soul tambourine to make play it, break it on down! as sampled on stezos golden era hip hop rocker to the max.

a three-track release from the prolific french producer brett longman. after a lot of experiences all across europe and a pretty extensive discography, his creativity combined with his production skills makes him one of the most versatile artist today. from rythmic minimal techno to road movie blues or melodic songs, he now enters a crooner techno genre that he is inventing along the way.

hailing from sunny los angeles, plastic love records kicks off our first release with an ep from label co-boss jimmy maheras. maheras made his debut in 2011 with his space jam ep on the crosstown rebels edit sub-label, rebellion. since then he s released remixes and singles on strainjjur, riff raff, supernature, and left d. maheras s two original tracks showcase his depth with the man from another place being squarely aimed at the big room dance floor and the second track, arecibo, bringing a little kraftwerkesque funk. we ve commissioned timothy j fairplay (crimes of the future) and cottam (aus music / ruff draft) for two very unique remixes. fairplay crunches down the original melody and throws it over the famed amen break to give tmfap a hands in air late night feel while cottam s remix brings the dreamy melody closer to acid with storming late night kick ready to knock down a wall.

with *closer* masterton debuts on blackfoxmusics 19th release (bfm019). *closer* is a warm track with a deep groove and beautiful melodies. it relates to living in a long distance relationship and overcoming a lack of proximity.
robert babicz (babiczstyle, systematic, bedrock records) created an incredible remix. he used lots of the original melodies, combined them with new elements, added rolling drums and a thick bassline to give the track the extra drive. his remix became a constant part of his live sets and was debuted with great response at grelle forelle (vienna) and ritter butzke (berlin).
channel x (stil vor talent) remixed *closer* into a pretty cool and clubby deep house track. you can feel their berlin origin when listening to the groovy bassline with variations of the melody. finally the breaks capture the mood of the dissonant sounds from the original track.
