once again leng deliver with a lovely bit of heavy electronic stompery. tiagos >the source< goes straight for the dark end of the dancefloor and wallows in the smokey acidic enivirons of the late night moody corner ! with a punchy throbbing bass, hefty beats, tons of spacey effects and some awesome delayed hi hats to really mess your head, this is in the box for the strobe light moment. on side-b >mudds slow rave mix< turns up the acid a few notches, somehow gets even swampier in the bottom end and slightly more whacked out on the fx, add a lovely niggling synth line for a dark heavy dancefloor work out.
m a n i k returns to ovum after his incredibly successful park to the slope ep. he comes to us this whit his follow up keep that fresh ep. the title of the ep says it all as m a n i k is constantly evolving his sound and keeping the music fresh. the title track >keep that fresh< has a funky 303 bass line with intricate grooves and a hook made up of some chords. this is something that will clearly get the floor rolling. next up is ditmars blvd with its heavy drums and catchy synth line, is a stone cold groove track. on the b side we start with >hold on<. this track is inspired by the sounds of early west coast g funk hip hop with its lead synth and funked up analog bass line. the final cut on this diverse ep is >shes slow motion<, with its r&b vocal floating over the incredible deep instrumental. this is something you could hear in the early mornings at a brooklyn warehouse party. all in all a great diverse follow up from m a n i k that should be in the sets of a wide range of djs
babylon by car is entirely in this ambiguity, between nostalgia and modernity, between pop and post-punk, electronic music and rock, past and future – its where kraftwerks >men-machines< celebrated an endless future with obedient machines. botox summons the ghosts of the century, from cybotron to wire, from fad gadget to john carpenter, to give birth to greatly personal music and, in all honesty, a rather unique sound in french electronic music. botox doesnt swagger to keep their motors running. both melodic and fierce, >babylon by car< comes as it is. and its probably the best way to take it in

escape from new york >singles collection< contains the groups full discography. the group comprising of british record producers john falleti, mike whitford, nigel swanston & tim cox (who also recorded as airstrip-one) penned these two gems in the early 80s at a time when italo disco & new wave were the flavour of the day. >fire in my heart< needs little introduction, an incredible slow-mo balearic masterpiece with rapturous vocals. now worth a pretty penny this originally was released on uk rollerball records in 1984.

wonderful release by kyle hall on his new detroit based label wild oats. masterpiece 4 track ep, each track divine and unique in its own way. hot jazzy kyle hall fashioned deephouse that can serve a lounge and at the same time bang even harder on a dancefloor. kyle halls experimentalist off beat antics meets smooth jazz would be a way to describe the sound. poly rhythms everywhere but at the same time a cohesive groovy soulful feel. overall this ep is a must buy for anyone who is for the future of the electronic music genre and enjoys quality.
more ruff jamz from the 6th borough project bunker kicking off with the supa-dupa-slo-mo-soul cut, >slow down baby<, with chopped up strings and heroin-house bassline all present. the flip brings us >closer< to the edit and pitches us nearer the holy grail of tempos. >stratus quo< gives us tracky rhodes action on the intro and sends us a message in the music. number five is alive.
the stl project continues with warm, soulful and dirty sounding tracks from the basement. this record features five moving deep chicago flavoured house tunes, plus the always appearing dope loops on the b-side. oldshool stylish melodies between raw and colourful beats, channeled through vintage hardware equipment direct to your ears. evolving percussion patterns will make you get inside the groove and feeling of each track. things for the dancefloor and moody listening places. ruff house music without any frills! besides the great stl tracks, there is also a dubby rmx from intrusion echospace.detroit on the flipside, which will get you even deeper into sound. something vinyl series 11. grab yourself one copy as long as you can!

stealing thunder so you move that ass, the duo dubbed thunderheist unleashes serious electrocrunk boom bap. ribcage-rattling bass breaks laced with proper rhyming are flipped with digital booty bass, 80s-inspired electronic pop and slowed down southern bounce, all fresh-dipped in serious swagger. mc and singer isis and producer grahmzilla know how to bring it. and once they ve brought it, it stays brung. >torontos shit-hot electro duo< (nme.com) are already a huge online phenomenon, but this first full taste of their forthcoming album comes courtesy of nasty mix records in canada. catchy, propulsive, ecstatic and uncompromising, it s party music of the highest order, utterly unique but sounding like its been in your head all along.
der titel legt es schon nahe: >for now<, das zweite album des britischen 60s-retro-trios the bishops, ist eine art bestandsaufnahme. eine referenz an den moment, an das jetzt, das die gruppe aus london seit erscheinen ihres deb?talbums 2007 mit hunderten konzerten ausgiebig gelebt hat - u. a. als support f?r james blunt auf dessen europa-tour. so sind denn auch viele der songs von >for now< auf tour entstanden, aufgenommen wurden sie im sommer 2008 in london vom produzenten brian o?shaughnessey (primal scream, my bloody valentine). abgesehen von den klassischen dreimann-arrangements spielen the bishops auf >for now< auch mit ungewohnten instrumenten wie trompete, mundharmonika und klavier. rockig und im besten stil der kinks und fr?hen beatles ist das allemal, wie nummern wie >hold on<, >free to do what you want< und die erste single >city lights< beweisen. doch auch ein folksong wie >he was a friend of mine< schaffte es auf die platte.
a carl craig production!!! here is the 1st extract taken from night music, etienne jaumet new album to be released end of september. etienne is the keyboard player of zombie zombie. this man is breathing music. you have to catch him live to see how involved he is in his music. almost possesed. when i heard his album a while ago, i asked carl craig to make some production, which he accepted and made a job above our expectations! he pushed the level of psychadelism to the max! entropy is one of them. cosmic dark obssesive - a meeting between ashra temple, can and liaisons dangeureuses. tr 808, vintage synths...lets go for a ride... for the remix, christian vance, an australian producer who released recently a brillant track on rippertons label perspectiv has done a great job, changing the tune into a mental techno ride...we only released one mix, but check the digital platforms for more unreleased versions...

big with: onur Özer, gregor tresher, davide squillace, d julz, josh wink, laurent garnier, john selway, bart skills, santi xpansul,.. step into the alley, into the groove. into the urban breeze and family hospitality of easy street! without using too many sounds or rhythms in the main track >ad hoc<, van rivers creates a warm, full sound spectrum, with a variety of angles. as daytime turns into nighttime this urban story continues. >slow sails is basically a tool that keeps on building from start to end, with focus on a wave-sounding reverb<, van rivers explains. and as twilight enters, >dusty leaves< turns this street scene upside down with its walking rhythm and spooky sounds. we are the spectators of an act in the vein of michael jacksons >thriller< epic. this release with van rivers really shows the variety of his sound from beginning to end! a powerful record for the floor that plays as well at home too
nice price deal !!! the unhistories sound is psychedelic, but not in the paisley way. more mind expanding/modern...get it straight, singer isnt referencing any past trend in music. their idea involves their (very) original compositions tangling with voices stumbling, clucking, heaving, whipping, shrieking and sighing in a graceful jumble. this is a crux. this is unhistories. by way of introduction, the record is packaged in a way that brings the fun and the fury of singer into your hands, your home, your lap, your eyes, ears and headphones with life, weight and a glossy polish.
COMING FROM THE WEST SIDE / SLUM SCIENCE HUDD TRAXX REMIX
12 Inch 22.05.08
hector moralez forms another formidable partnership with jump recordings dj jaz. coming from the west side offers 2 top notch original cuts and kicks off with a bang on a1. drive slow combines smooth female vocals with organic keys to create a deep twisted house groover. summer windy is a peak time affair that uses live sax loops and sleek beats and arrives just in time for the start of those hot summer months. hudd traxx label bosses slum science pick the pace up on the b side with a remix that would fit in well into sets of jocks like inland knights, dj heather, ralph lawson, chris carrier & dj raoul. the slumsters work out tough beats with clever stabs,...
>the other side of music...< kann man hier wohl sagen! vom abstrakt-balearisch anmutenden >transient<, über das französisch-romantisierende >perm< zum bollernden art-technoapproach eines >bootstrap<, und zurück zu zarten idm-schlafsongs wie >slow peel< gibt es hier vieles zu entdecken. toller neuer sound aus schweden!
in the year of punk 1977, the jams exploded onto the music scene with this seminal debut album. the raw, unfettered aggression of the bands approach was well in keeping with the spirit of the times, but the heart of their songs and sound lay in the mod movement of the mid 60s. singer/guitarist paul weller comes off like a cross between joe strummer and the young pete townshend, bashing unreservedly through slow down, one of the r&b tunes that inspired the original mods. weller extols the virtues of frenzied dancing and nonconformist youth culture over the raging three chord attack of bassist bruce foxton and drummer rick buckler. the pure punk insouciance of his words and delivery is a perfect match for the raging but hooky arrangements, which basically consisted of the band walking into the studio and blazing through their live set. rickenbacker guitars never sounded so thick, and skinny ties never seemed less geeky.
