the swedish trance duo son kite is back, releasing their first album in ten years. and they are on a mission. *dancing is a very important ritual. our main mission as artists is to make people get into this trance state*, they say. since the release of their third album *colours* in 2004, marcus henriksson and sebastian mullaert have been focusing on their other project minilogue, touring the world and gaining increasing popularity in the house and techno scene. with *prisma*, released on november 17th and consisting of seven tracks made between 2007 and 2014, the duo leaps back to the endless energy and enthusiasm they felt when they first started making music together in 1996. and back to what it is all essentially about, according to the two musicians: getting into the all-important dance ritual and reaching the trance state.

kalipo is jakob häglsperger from berlin who devotes himself to experimental electronica. his debut album yaruto follows a series of remixes and contributions to compilations released by antime and stiff little spinners. on it, häglsperger tries to create a both unique and timeless sound that takes cues from dance music, downbeat and gamelan traditions alike. making use of his wide array of analogue synthesizers, a rhodes piano, a metallophone and guitars, häglsperger is creating the abstract narrative of an impersonal biography by creating moods that correspond with certain stages of life as well as chopped up vocal samples. the double vinyl lp includes a download code.

roots go deep are a label devoted to releasing music by south african artists. since 2012 they ve released seven eps by names like d.nel, makhen gigga and label owners ofuren and fred buddah. now that they ve established themselves in the digital realm of music, roots go deep arrive on the physical medium with a split ep of deep and dubby sounds from ofuren and fred buddah. the two provide two collaborative tracks in -floral synergy- - a woozy house jam in line with mcde s raw cuts - and -do deejays dream of dancing sheep-, a sublime mix of subaqueous chords, chilled out drums and touch of acid. buddah just about goes ambient on his solo track -ragan- while ofuren keeps it heads down and uber-dub on -ripples through reflection-. roots go deep indeed.

to get things started we have a gorgeous soulful disco number, heavenly vocals, classic disco strings, brass stabs, tight baseline and the drums are pure class, tastefully extended in all the right places so as to stay as true to the original as possible, guaranteed to get your crowd dancing and singing along. on the b side we have one hell of a disco boogie funk bomb, plenty of breaks included in this stomper of a track, sharp drums, powerful vocals, funky baseline, guitar, piano, synths and some brass to boot, mix it all together and you get one hell of a party record.
