our jazzy multi instrumentalist, dewalta a.k.a. david koch, returns to vakant with another popping fresh release, as earnestly house as house can get. since his first vakant release in 2008 (va021 salgaro/farina) davids music has taken him around the world in black largely covering our earths northern and southern hemispheres. side a is graced by move yo sitting as close to late 1990s baby ford as one can get without a time machine and personal guide to londons underground. david somehow owns this genre while still making it distinctly his. b1 night shade keeps the housey goose bumps going with a drier and more direct approach. cheeky bleeps and chunky bass balance dark spacey vocals to land the track somewhere between night and day. >angels trumpet< at the b2 position closes this stellar ep out with a track that again borrows from the genre, but continues way beyond its standards with melodic elements that push and pull you in multiple directions resulting in no less than dance floor catharsis.

>the cockpit< is my personal favourite song of the chelonis album and it has taken my sleepless night (and days) to watch out for the right remixers. now that all new versions are ready, i m more than happy because all three fellows have felt the real vibe of the original song. a spezial thanx to ekkohaus who delivered two different mixes and spent a lot of energy and passion into these productions. and also merci to steve rachmad and paul woolford, guys who stand rather for techno, however improved their soul into creating passionated tech house! chapeau! the first release is a dream come true project for us, as we are proud to present a 12 inch by detroit legend optic nerve aka keith tucker, part of the famous electro duo aux88. keith is recording under several monikers such as optic nerve, k-1 or alien fm since the very early nineties and has built his own unique style of electro and techno music out of detroit. the >reassimilation ep< showcases keith at his best, deep driving techno with that extra bit of funk that most of todays productions are missing. we are very sure these tracks will devastate the dancefloors.

a temporary sabbatical from gigs was taken and the band wrote material for where were you when it happened in new orleans midtown district, where their rawboned compositions resembled the katrina-pummeled surroundings. with their girlfriends with them in as close to a stableenvironment as they d been in months, they were able to tap a darker, more personal side in songs like as noise, and hunt you down, with its mournful, organ drenched air belying monotonixs typical good time charlie posturing, while fulfilling the albums need for a climactic, balladic moment. where were you when it happened? finds monotonix visiting a greater diversity of places within their sound while still retaining their minimal appeal. mostly though, where were you when it happened works up a sweat with raw rock and roll, acid guitar licks and riffs, screaming choruses and, in general, the wildness of monotonix in a way that makes for repeated album listening (and pummelling). where most bands refine their production sound as they go forward, monotonix have reverse refined themselves, playing dirtier and more energetic to capture the lightning they are known for.
