becoming real is a young producer based in the suburbs of nowhere, channeling his very own post-apocalyptic vision of london. a haunted and haunting spectre, his self-termed ghost-step soundscapes are as much influenced by a conceptual future dystopia as they are by luminaries zomby & mount eerie.

bristol-born and london-based producer rekordah takes charge of lo fi funk records second instalment. as well as running the independent label pollen, rekordah also promotes a series of parties of the same name with efa (which have hosted artists of the caliber of mike slott and slugabed among others), and crafts his own brand of cosmic, dismembered hip hop, in that wonky style everyone is raving about.
>cherry coke< on the a side, is full of bubbling sounds that evoke the soda drink your nephew drinks while he plays with that atari you found in the attic, played over a dilla style beat, whilst in the flip side we find >butternut<, in which p-funk synthesisers rise side to side with space age special effects, frantic syncopated drums and 22nd century boom bap.

first release from this exciting new spanish label focused on future synth beats with enough funk to appease george clinton. this is the first release too for the spanish beatmaker hybakusha, a pioneer of the skweee sound in spain. gameboy lover is a noisy 8 bit robotic skweee track which mixes chip tune drums and cutting edge filtered synths in a crazy groove. on the other side there is a mesak remix of the same track. for those of you who have been napping for the last few years, mesak is one half of the electro outfit mr velcro fastener, he has released solo material on dexters klakson label and is one of the most prominent heads on the skweee scene. his remix treatment takes the track into more spacey and deep territory, giving this record the official and personal stamp of the finnish skweee.

lo fi funks third release comes courtesy of the young hiperactive hovatron. in his breeding ground of montreal hovatron hosts the turbocrunk nights (which have seen him play alongside poirier, nosaj thing, or the luckyme collective, to name but a few), and in which he often goes solo with his mpc, spins the latest bangers back to back with lunice (under the pseudonym mofomatronix) or mixes visuals which, as well as his music, draw heavily from 90s trash culture filtered thorugh an 8 bit processor.
the a side is an absolute dancefloor bomb. >gold star radiation< is what club music would be like if most clubs had any balls: the sweaty beats and rude bassline pound alongside a melodic riff reminiscent of detroit techno and old school acid house - perfect to destroy a dancefloor packed with hip hop heads or to stun an audience more comfortable with a 4x4 fare, in a good way.
on the flip side, >lets get wet< sees purple sound collide with the dirty souths chopped n screwed style, sprinkling thousands of music particles on top of the final epic synth lines. crunk leaves the 9mm home and decides to go play arcade games instead!
