it marks the long awaited reunion of electronic pioneers vince clarke (erasure/ yazoo/ depeche mode) and martin l. gore (depeche mode), who have joined forces for the first time in over thirty years to craft an album which, demonstrating their mutual love of electronic music. after initial tentative discussions, and a meeting at short circuit presents mute festival in london, where they both performed, these two influential musicians and songwriters, began work on the 10-track album, working in a typically unique way with the pair working alone in their respective studios, communication only via email, exchanging files until the albums was ready. the album includes the recent 12inch ep1 / spock, described by the quietus as one of the best tracks of 2011, plus the forthcoming ep 2 / single blip. the album was produced by vince clarke and martin l. gore and mixed by the influential californian electronic artist Überzone / q.

die letzte fsoj vol. 11 ist schon fünf jahre her, die erste kam 1995 raus. ich habe das gefühl die zeit dreht zurück. ein bischen erinnern mich die tracks - vor allem die langsamen stücke, wie so mancher sound - an die ersten >future sounds of jazz< compilations. ich kann sagen, ich hatte eine gewisse leerstelle von 2007 bis ende 2010, sah weder die notwendigkeit, noch hatte ich lust empfunden, eine neue fsoj zu machen. es gab seit 2007 schon den ein oder anderen tollen track, aber nicht genug, um gleich eine compilation daraus zu zimmern. zugegeben war ich, wie viele andere, mehr dem disco-, edit- und deep house-fieber verfallen. bin ich immer noch, aber die musik fusioniert wieder stärker mit den vibes, die ich für fsoj suchte.
es begann in 2010, festigte sich in 2011, ein déjà-vu ritt mich plötzlich, der viel beschworene zeitgeist wehte wieder. haufenweise gute tracks, interessante projekte, die von der Ästhetik, vom sound und feeling den frühen 90ern, oder meinem gutdünken ihre reminiszenzen aufwiesen. immerhin sind seit der vol. 1 schon zwei generationen nachgewachsen, sagt man doch, daß alle sieben jahre eine neue generation entsteht. ich denke, die jüngeren projekte (z.b.: lo tide aus australien, anchorsong und ragout delapin beides projekte aus japan, scrimshire, letherette, laszlo, sepalcure, eden) die hier vertreten sind, spiegeln das eindrücklich wieder.

straight up dubby, techy and deephouse with beautiful pads and one shots. bossebollen is a true spooky house anthem with well placed one shot vocals. on the flip we find the more techy track time is now and the amazing reprise of guidance which is a beatless string journey filled with short vocal cuts.

extremely welcome reissue for one of the absolute holy grails of the rare groove scene. ultra-rare and super-expensive in its original 1980 release, this incredibly sexy tune from chicago band starvue fully deserves its status as a true soul anthem. produced by the chi-lites clarence johnson, >body fusion< never lets up the dancefloor pressure from beginning to end - the wonderful fusion of achingly beautiful strings, loping bass, flutes, the coolest fingersnaps and of course the mesmerising vocals of tony hicks combine to create an intensely emotional and rolling momentum that builds and builds. a masterpiece of soul history that still sounds as fresh as ever - essential!

the second part of this strong remix package sees joshua - one of the pioneers of the san francisco sound - doing his thing on >into this lonely crowd<. a long build up plus distinctive use of atmospheric keys makes this the perfect soundtrack for hot and sexy summer nights. the original version by daniel scholz and matthias tanzmann aka gamat 3000 is included, too.

funky and laid back jazz constructed house tracks with spacy dimension by dewalta. we are very happy to release such a fantastic long player which keeps alive our dear paris-berlin connection and our taste for subtle melange between jazz and house music. both tracks malbec and syrah will bring you far on the dancefloor like a good wine does with its fine and deep flavours of fruits and whatever it can tell about the history of its ground. david koch under his artist name dewalta persuades first on the a side with malbec. a dry clap introduces to the affair, short followed by a kick and a driving funky deep baseline which could be far enough to convince any dj fan of minimal hypnotic loops. having set up that strong base, he plays then carefully some light but brillant layers of jazzy arrangements. santé! syrah, follows up in a more trippy way performing a jazzy and elegant journey which destination is certainly somewhere in the cosmos. mastered and cutted by mike grinser at the berlin studio man made mastering.

from rome to glasgow through bavarian lands, analytic trail to forward its last project. the young frankyeffe comes from the success of his releases on labels like: remain records of axel karakasis, naked lunch of a.paul and kombination research of mr. cisco ferreira a.k.a. the advent. riot is the name of this ep made by four tracks, including remixes by harvey mckay and alex bau. first remixer comes from scotland with his debut album, machine make noise and the amazing project nightwalker on soma records. with starting his own label toneman back in 2000 alex bau also started to his soloproductions for labels like chris liebings clr and sleaze records with a great remix by alan fitzpatrick. riot has a straight kick, an obstinate synth reverbered in background and a sereies of short hihats. the track is mostly characterized from continuous aggressive snares that making an hard groove and all is surrounded by a fat bassline, old school techno style.

in a short time, north londoner randomer has built up a small but heavy hitting catalogue of work – releasing >brunk< (on hessle audios 116 & rising compilation), the acid tinged >obtuse< and most recently his dance mania-on-steroids ep for numbers, >real talk<. his debut for hemlock recordings sees him taking things even further back to basics, dropping two heavyweight trax of pure beats and bassline indulgence. a. scruff boxs beats roll heavy but with a crafty, garage skip in their step, giving no clues to the obese bass riff that soon rudely exposes itself, tearing through the track roll by roll. aa. get yourself together more of those trademark, overweight beats with one giant, elasticated bassline. for those who like them large and lovely

after a break for over a year pattern repeat is back again with another two tracks on their own label. both kenneth & resoe has been really busy last year, so it has been difficult to meet up in the studio. but now they had the time to finish two tracks of deep dirty techno from the capitol of denmark copenhagen. again they set it of with raw dirty dub infected grooves and the a side starts up right away with the dub elements intact, and then keeps building through the rest of the track. after the short break a hypnotic atmosphere kicks off in best pattern repeat style. the b side starts slowly with an almost alfred hitchcock kind of atmosphere, with a dull kick underneath. the track keeps gettin more dirty through the 6 min. and 15 secs. it last, with more distortion added to the dub stabs. its a good way that kenneth & resoe returns since the last 12 inch they put out in december 2010, to set the stage for 2012.

internal sync are jackspot and calapez, a portuguese duo that made fame within a short period of time. on fortek their deep techno cut “dif dif”. a rough bassline supplies for the bounce and the minimal drum programming hits the spot. the duo go crazy with a housey juno-esque synth, a floor banger for sure. on the b-side we have fortek wonderchild “mr. stefan tretau” on remix duties. he takes dif dif into even deeper territories adding a tech-club feel a la ame and charles webster. the mix slowly builds and builds. a wonderful voyage.

the first world unknown 12 inch of 2012 is a double header of throbbing midtempo techno and as with all world unknown releases from now on both tracks have been mastered for vinyl from ½ inch tape for maximum sonic excellence. on side w semtek from dont be afraid joins forces with his afterparty alter-ego chardonnay and a certain rather well known og hipster poet on >tacos for dinner<, an extremely modern and massively psychedelic trip into the outer mind. this clicking, bleeping, fizzing and throbbing ten minute excursion has been road tested from acetate by andy blake for many months and always sends the club somewhere very special and ever so slightly scary. on side u scott fraser delivers >remains the same<. its a notch or two less pacey than side w but no less powerful or psychedelic. its earthy vibe and pounding, throbbing tones have been part of andrew weatheralls sets for some time now and its not hard to see why. when the full percussion finally comes crunching in like a breakbeat on top of the ever-present heavyweight bassline its disco pandemonium time. in short, possibly the best 12 inch so far from wu.

after his debut album connecting the dots at the end of 2010 and several remixes in 2011, h.o.s.h. finally returns to diynamic music with some fresh productions and a statement: life is music is life. thats the name of his upcoming, long awaited ep, showing new sides of his verified and openminded taste in music. h.o.s.h. presents us three astonishing original takes on vocal music, all featuring the soulfull singer malonda. the opener what do you want me to say? is an immediate hymn consisting of an emotive vocal supported by sexy percussions, an impulsive cowbell and a deep, pumping bass. totally focussing on getting people to move. this one will stick right into your head. on the a2 h.o.s.h. again introduces a straight groove but this time he combines it with repetitive vocals, hypnotic synth-sounds building up tension and even some slight strings. hidden pleasures is an instant viber. the finisher high! is slow and a true groover with a gripping bassline, drifting melodies and a vocal singing a short story about those special moments on the floor that we all know. in the end h.o.s.h. has managed to re-introduce himself without even focussing on this.

next up on nang we-re honoured to introduce -2am- the new ep by sheffield scenester producers hiem along with another of the cities finest fellows- phil oakey of the human league. the original track is a synth pop powerhouse about those twilight club nights that you never wanted to end- complete with a epic guitar solo- computer blips and glistening synth rushes. oakey is as accomplished as ever- bringing his signature tones to full effect and it-s nothing short of sensational. to accompany- we-ve enlisted the skills of four producers to give us some cracking remixes. fernando and toomy disco are first up- and they ramp up the tempo and vibe for a loose -n- live rework that-s perfect for the dance floor. hiem themselves give it a go with his -1984 rework- bringing 80-s power drums- van halen solos and some atmospheric subtleties to the table. nang-s italian uber-cool-cat brioski steps up next giving us the italian angle with a brilliant walking bassline and luscious wide mix. the heels of love bring us frivolous percussion and stomping disco beats layered between emosh pads and slick keys. ace. to finish- our good friends free school take things down a notch for a beautiful leftfield excursion that only they could pull off.

having released the anonymous and enormous f**k yonkers bootleg earlier this year, the amsterdam based audio culture label is poised to unleash their first official release, a piece of music which is the result of the collaborative efforts of dutch wunderkind presk and amsterdams premier tastemaker cinnaman. in part, pieter presk willems support is responsible for the labels inception. in a short space of time presk has built up a solid and impressively distinct sounding catalogue of work released on respected imprints such as ramp sister label fourth wave and doc daneekas ten thousand yen. making a name for himself with nothing more than his hands and impeccable taste, yuri cinnaman boselie has become somewhat of a musical institution in amsterdam. he is the man behind the ground breaking colors nights and is responsible for the equally forward thinking beat dimensions compilations. the b-side features two expertly remixed and uniquely different takes on the original, courtesy of non other than instra:mentals jon convex and ten thousand yen head honcho doc daneeka.

after a short break aaron jays influence records is back with another top draw 12 from none other then liquid master random movement. having released an album on markys innerground label last year, random movement was keen to drop a 12 inch on influence and what a 12 it is. both sides are dance floor killers, both on heavy rotation at fabric and have been supported by the likes of spy, fabio, lynx, grooverider & bailey.

spider silk on the a side is a funky stepper of extreme darkness. its epic feel shall make it a hit on all techno, idm and dubstep dancefloors. 8 blip is a short straight tech stumbler with a kick drum as deep it will only be audible on proper soundsys- tems – which is where we want to hear those tracks anyway. litiv is a piece of rare beauty – simply amazing. lakker are a fascinating duo from dublin who have released on several labels and recently got dj support from none other than aphex twin.

its another monster from survival and one thats featured as an untitled track in numerous sets recently. here we are pleased to announce its title as >the year 2133<. the intro on this one takes you on a short journey into space and back & returns you to land with a massive bump the mini-second the bass kicks in. its a futuristic slate of d&b that we are sure would sit quite well in the year 2133 however we are happy to be releasing this in 2011! the flip sees fathom audios superb >clear the mist< featuring codebreaker & sense. the track features the excellent and hugely talented vocals of codebreaker & mc sense throughout and represents an excursion away from the norm for dispatch.

as the summer comes to a close, italojohnson releases its fourth release thereby urging party people to get in the dancing swing once again. on the long recorded side, you will find a progressive house track that can be hardly surpassed in any type in its directness. an unfussy arrangement, a straight oppressive subject and a low flying breakdown compose the a-stamped side. the sincerity of the first track of the flipside doesnt come short of any expectations. the concrete in-your-face-drumming, piano lessons and stabbing strings combined with the italojohnson charm becomes the (double a) aa-side. why? because italojohnson doesnt do b-sides. finally, the aa-2 track emotionally rounds up the release with italojohnsons trademark-sound in which all the brothers and sisters are invited to explore. make love!

wack records return after a short holiday in scarborough. this time fully equipped with giant disco balls, 70s roller boots and flame throwers in order to get the party started right! dj kid stretch hails from greece (dmc greek champion 2000) and his production skills shine in this superb refix of disco got me mesmerized. french veteran dj prosper turns the heat up with his version of disco reach blending soul and electronica. on the b-side smov busts some rhymes and flips it over a melody of a pure disco classic dropped into a vat of tuff beats that result in busta move. the breakbeat junkies collaboration with dj p from stoke u.k resulted in this powerful ball breaker of a tune that will leave you in a slump exhausted from got what it takes.

after a short production break, the russian techno duo easy changes (denis cast & kilrill silas) are back with a 12 inch on the berlin/london based label, mean records, run by cesare marchese (cesare vs disorder) & federico benedetti (onirik). the lion is also a good drummer fits in nicely with the labels love of minimal techno productions that feature original sounds, moody melodies and deep aural landscapes. easy changes gained recognition in 2007 with two back to back hit releases on foundsound records. in 2009, they were the first ep from nervmusic, a moscow based label that focuses on unconventional techno started by cast, silas and friends. seated comfortably between the avant-garde and the dancefloor, the release has something for everyone. the title track, the lion is also a good drummer is an epic, crawling minimal techno production filled with stripped down percussion and abstract found sounds perfect for after-hours. on the flipside is the uptempo, quirky and tribal burlesque, replete with spliced vocal samples, snares, cymbals, bleeps and claps. for the burlesque remix, french producer doubtingthomas shows off his lifelong obsession with percussion and its rhythmic allure with the addition of a trippy drum solo midway through the track.

in the primordial soup that is the space often referred to as 130bpm, there lies a lot of dull debris and dirty detritus. but amidst the scattered grey asteroids lies a small but glittering phuture-star, damu, the newest signing to bass station keysound recordings. whereas much that surrounds him is ordinary and unremarkable, damus quadrant is a glittering explosion of hypercolour and kinetic movement, emotive energy and playful pulsations. to enter into its proximity is, in the nicest possible way, to be irradiated by a kind of cosmic glow rays that leaves you fuzzy and warm. the source for this remarkable sound, developed over a relatively short period, is his infectious enthusiasm and unrelenting positivity.

noidoi are back on track! the romanian invaders team up with their second ep on our beloved sublabel love letters from oslo. after their last ep dupa joi on oslo, which was released just a short while ago, the masters of puristic funk are back again. inainte inapoi iar starts with a randomized and funky off-beat snare drum, which morphs into a deep and massive bass break anthem. then, the simple but classy melody pads lead into a typical romanian house groover, which is distinguished by his complex drum patterns and edgy percussion. the second track peloc, made of a playful oldschool melody, reminds on the good old times back in the days. a solid tool for unique moments, which can be big, if used in the right order!

so who wrote them, the rules of love? omar s and colonel abrams ask this important question and need your help to answer it - for science!

limited coloured vinyl pressing. one of my big favourite instra tunes is vicodin (released with lets talk – a dark, foreboding dubstep classic) and it gets a makeover by skudge who are getting mentions everywhere right now. check this track, even the waveform looks f***in dark! skudge warp it into something between dubstep and house but with all the downer-rhythm that really makes this track. along with the remix theres more from boddika in grand prix. short and sweet little hypnotic bounce track with serious dancability.

it has been in the pipeline for a while, but its finally here. the debut release from nijmegens underground house & techno collective eshu. they have been working and shaping their sound for over a year and gained quite the following on soundcloud for their relentless output. its deep, its slow, its really dirty and its to put your finger on.
two tracks will be released on wolfskuil ltd as a taster of whats to come. >naturally divine< is 14 minute electronic monstertrip with curious offbeat rhythms and detailed & mindblowing sounddesign. it builds tension without ever releasing into climax, making time fly by and 14 minutes seem way to short. >monrovia< on the flip is a nice contrast, but again this techno groover stands out through its unique choice of sounds, synths and layers.

julia porter, best known as miss jools, is the native londoner who cut her teeth and carved her niche in the uk capital, before making mobilee her musical home. her previous collaborative production outfit with audiofly sleeper thief brought her to wider attention in 2006 and then in 2008 she struck out on her own, undertaking solo work and discovering a penchant for slinky, late-night dancefloor sounds with releases such as >la luna< and >que me levante<, proving herself a diverse talent both in the dj booth and in the studio. after a short break, her new release on mobilee >walk away< brings her special musical flavour back to the floor. title track >walk away< it as much minimal and trippy, as it is dreamy and melodic. the same can be said for >whats going on< but this time a powerful vocal is layered over the freaky back drop. meanwhile on the b side >feel you< will keep you spinning. youll definitely find yourself dancing to one of these tracks in the early hours of the morning soon, if you are not playing them yourself…..enjoy!
