the eraly years of a decade are good times for exploration, just like in 1993 when we (alex & sasa) first started working together. we rented a huge loft space on ave b & 2nd st. in the east village in manhattan. the winter was tough, we had 16 snow storms and due to a landlord who hated everybody, we had our heating turned off except for a few hours in the morning, sometimes not even that... the only way to stay warm was to wear hats, gloves and scarves the whole winter... but that was fine because nightlife was a lot of fun. there was a good club/party every night. right below where we lived was one of the best after hour clubs called >save the robots<. but one of my favourite parties was >sugar babes< which was at the cbgbs gallery space right next door to cbgbs, every monday night. the dj used to sample parts of the records he was mixing and then just play the loop of the sample and alongside was a drummer playing to it. it was really inspiring. so we wanted to go back to this idea of sound assembly and create a new series for us to work with called >skematics< its like a diagram or manual to help understand the interconnections between the odd parts we find and assemble, an imaginary manual for a new decade that has not been musically defined yet

heralding from st petersburg and moscow, special case is part of a rising wave of eastern european artists, a region that holds tremendous importance for culprit s ukrainian born andrei osyka. having established reputations as individual djs in their native soil, the trio came together as special case specifically to create a release for culprit, and with the belief that the whole would be greater than the sum of their parts. aurum is dancefloor gold and proves they were right to do so.

this ep was formed with a concept in mind that involves a natural phenomenon occurring in various / different fields of science and nature - anti-parallelism. as the word suggests, anti-parallelism describes the natural relationship between two occurrences, objects or even non-material things, that are virtually identical and yet oriented in different directions. during the time the music was made i was researching natural phenomenons like this one. naturally, this became part of the nucleus, fabric and inspiration for this work. in genetics, for example, if the >antiparallelity< is corrupted during the process of dna replication it is called a mutation. this mutation can be anything from totally inconsequential to critical for the survival of the whole living organism. a double helix of dna contains two helixes, that are naturally anti-parallel to one another. in physics this could be two of the same objects moving through space and time in opposite directions - just like the instruments or parts of a beat in electronic music production. so metaphorically speaking, anti-parallelism holds a natural balance to keep it safe and stable. although this might sound all very conceptual and theoretical this music is obviously just what it is - it is not intended to teach math, physics or biology in any way. the above mentioned aspect has simply found its way through my head and might have led to a piece of music that somehow, at least for me, is connected to these thoughts. it might evoke something very different for you

its been two years since pawas gupta contributed an enchanting remix on sirions first vinyl release. constant communication and cooperation lead to this all in all accomplished project called >huis huis ep<. pawas productions start off smooth and impress with delightful elements and perpetual dynamic. the development of each track is rarely predictable. tempting the act of prolonged anticipation is a delicate one and leads further and further into remote realms. carried into the sec repetitive parts by finely tuned synth-boosts makes us realize the force briefly before being caught up in the hypnotic sounds again. propelling deep house with a pinch of funk and a touch of detroit - the classic yet brilliant pawas style! moon harbours chris lattner needs no long introductions. releases on nrk, einmaleins, fear of flying and luna records speak for themselves, are proof of a successful and active time. the dry yet truly ideal base frame for subtle but succinct modules for this remix is its effective substance. the static sub bass, fulminate and with an enormous thrust, is reminiscent of the miami bass age - virtuous modulations, the very complexion of mr lattner. he remains true to himself, we like!

this is first single cut from upcoming first collaboration album of minilogue & koss they have recorded at minilogue studio in malmo, sweden in the end of last year. then they brought back the recorded parts to own studio and put the each touch to the songs ... original of a side is minilogue manner hypnotic tech house but koss added his warm sounds. the result is a simple and timeless tune. on b side, new york deep houser dj qu remix is little bit more danceable than original. its for the fans of underground quality to lawrence to dj koze. the album is coming this autumn.

eleventh and conclusive ten inch of the la series comes from two thirds of the sa-ra creative partners shafiq husayn and om mas keith. working solo on each side shafiq is first with seven minutes of funk split into three parts. >dna splice mix< is an intense mix of hip hop and funk beats, chopped vocals, jazz and soul combining to form an infectious for-the-heads downtown la sound. flipping over om mas goes uptown and gives us a more polished sound with a leftfield r n b - hip hop vocal track >girls a player<. instrumental plus accapella included for potential remixers.

the focus energy / motive order twelve inch takes seamss lush electronica in a new direction. having captured the essence of the berlin summertime with the tourist ep, seams returns with and altogether more dancefloor orientated release. driven by a desire to make audiences at his live shows dance, a much more propulsive sound manifests itself across the two tracks, both built from the same ingredients but taking them in two very different directions. focus energys minimal percussion and vocal stabs pushes seamss sound further towards the techno production hinted at in hung markets, whereas motive order rearranges focus energys parts into a much more dense wall of sound, filled with arpeggios and noise, evoking the sound of the border community fold.

if you were to cut neville watson he would bleed acid house, he would also quite likely knock you flat on your arse for having the temerity to wave a knife at him, but thats a whole other story. for his first wu contribution he ventures down the ethereal proto-house boulevard. jacking 707 patterns, a bouncing juno bassline and outer-space synth lines take you into the upper atmosphere for a glorious airborne joyride. as ever, neville manages to evoke those 85-89 feelings without ever sounding merely retro or like some kind of pastiche, something that many attempt but very few manage to pull off. over on side u apiento, the force behind the magisterially brilliant testpressing website, chips in with a heartfelt homage to the new beat sound. another testimony to the fact that a lower tempo doesnt have to mean diminished energy levels, the orange place simply oozes class from top to bottom. like some lost ancienne belgique classic it pounds and pumps along, building up the tension all the while until the quasi- eastern refrain lets loose half way thru and all of a sudden a mystic portal opens up in the space-time continuum that leads all the way to southwark street in late 87.

i fight myself to sleep, my eyelids, heartbeats are lead weights of despair and sor-rows. the years disappeared within loneliness. to manage staying alive i keep my visions to myself. you were once my friend, a sinister. the sinister composition was written by par grindvik during 2009 and 2010. writing sinister was part of a healing process. the original sinister was never meant to be released - and it will probably never be. however, in 2010 par came up with the idea of handing out parts from the original, to a few of his friends, and to release different interpretations derived from these parts. the new interpretations would mark the beginning of a new label project cal¬led sinister. next to par’s own rework of the original, you will find the following interpretations. samuel l session (klap klap, music man, soma, be as one), s100 (stockholm ltd), gary beck (minus, soma, saved), staffan linzatti (stockholm ltd, searchlights), jesper dahlbäck (isl, drumcode, h-prod)

in addition to the >best of ambient< compilation from john beltran, two remixes are made to honour one of our favourite electronic music producers of all time. the a-side gives us a reinterpretation of >brilliant flood< from rising star kassem mosse together with his studiomate mix mup. this remix smoothly pimps up the track whilst leaving the atmosphere of the original intact. on the b-side, sven weisemann made a composition as a tribute to john beltran, which contains elements of different original cuts. the result is svens glorify tribute mix, a dreamy epic adventurous nine-minute masterpiece in three parts

vinyl edition to the fania release! stock will be very limited!the project is a marriage between old and new,a fresh take on classic sounds from the fania archives.late last year, fania records hand-delivered the original multi-tracks in a battered cardboard box to joe claussells nyc studio.each track was approached and assembled differently, each on its own terms. as joe says,some songs were edited,some were time-stretched many parts were re-recorded some new parts were recorded on top.the first disc features nine classic fania tunes from lou perez, celia cruz,eddie palmieri, ray barretto and more,all re-worked with the joe claussell touch!
