meet bwana. his tunes started racking up plays and conversations commenced with new music buddies xi, submerse and djd. a variety of different 130bpm sounds were toyed with from dubstep, garage, 2 step, 808 dubstep and his very own mashes of r&b-lead garage-step. it all seemed to work. a bunch of labels got in touch and tracks were signed to mad decent and montreal based infinite machine.

warm cuttlefish and asparagus salad (insalata tiepida di seppie con asparagi) ingredients: 22 oz (600 grams) green asparagus, spears cut into 12-inch lengths 6 tablespoons extra black virgin oil (for special vinyl taste) 2 lb and 4 oz (1 kilogram) cuttlefish, cleaned and cut into thin strips 2 tablespoon flat-leaf parsley, chopped 2 garlic clove, chopped 2 teaspoon coriander seeds seasalt and pepper directions:halve the pieces of asparagus lengthways and steam for about 5 minutes. drain and refresh under cold water. heat the olive oil in a pan, add the cuttlefish and cook until its lightly browned. season with seasalt and pepper, add the parsley, garlic, coriander and asparagus and mix well. serve warm and on a pirate flag printed tabelcloth. serves 12.

2diy4 is back to release its third ep! this time its a classic four tracker consisting of two original tracks by hamburg indie-band pool and their remixes by solomun and stimming. game over ep is the debut release of pool which where founded by daniel husten, nils hansen and david stoltzenberg this summer. its a classic three piece band of guitar, bass, drums and vocals showcasing a particolored, melodic and unique sound.

after his ace remix for nicolas jaar s >space is only noise< here on circus company, our man dave aju is back with an appropriate dose of in-between original music for the fall season. taken from his upcoming album project that uses vintage inherited recordings as sound sources, >all together now< is a beautifully unique track that is guaranteed to move people with its irresistible groove. indeed, the aptly titled jam brings together and bridges gaps of various kinds, from lo-fi and hi-fi to under water and outer space, with classic-flavored dynamic percussive elements, spiraling futuristic leads, and melodic synth work sprinkled with aju s distinctive voice, encouraging us to join in on the live collective claps that accent the cut. the building bass pulses and warm instrumentation stack up toward the ceiling, until a fresh breakdown spreads things out to release the pressure. amsterdam don san proper brings an equally unique and refreshing remix to the table, with a rugged take on the track complete with cool guitar licks, modular effects, and contrasting additional vocal stylings. similarly dynamic in the drum workout department but with an extra rawness, it is a fantastic complement to the original that rounds out the release perfectly.

oh boy.... mw are really spoiling us with the crazy electronics, following on from the recent philippe laurent release, this time its a japanese pioneer whos music has been lovingly restored, and just in time, by all accounts (read below). another classic on minimal wave, delivered on transparent vinyl.

i just woke and its pretty cold outside. i havent opened the window yet, but i somehow know it and im listening to these six tracks again and try to make an approximation of why and how i have done this ep. they are pretty different from each other but tell the same story or at least are part of the same one as a matter of fact. maybe they were done as an excuse for my overdue album which is scheduled again for this year or maybe just because i was going through some odd times and needed to immerse myself in doing something. in this case music. more the latter i guess. ok so, the opening track is in a way the end of an era and the last one the opening of a fresher one. and the rest fills in the gaps in between those two moments i guess. i hate conceptual things anyways. i never know or want to know why i do certain things. concepts define something before it already begins its existence and trying to explain why is pretty useless. so here it is. the recording of a certain period of time in my tiny existence. with collaborations with jaw (dop), my brother atilla, who is also responsible for the artwork, and jonny cruz. by the time its out itll be a distant memory for me but hope it lasts a bit longer for anyone that listens to it

right now is a bit of a lost record that has never officially been released as a single but managed to make its way onto jt donaldsons dj mix album and mark farinas house of om compilation on om records. now the record is being given the recognition it deserves by being released as a single on rebirth records with a couple of hot new mixes.

like his dj status, as a producer, jesse rose is a guarantee. world-renowned for the sound he created with long term mentor and dubsided label boss dave switch taylor, jesse is now the guy you turn to when you want a dancefloor remix, lending his services to the likes of hot chip, simian mobile disco, underworld to name but a few. after the phenomenal success of jesse’s mighty debut album, >what do you do if you dont< comes the third single from the album – >well now<. if you havent already heard the hooky >well now< in the clubs or on the airwaves, where have you been? the original mix is exactly what you would expect of jesse with its cheeky vocal and typical comedy factor make this mix so catchy its hard not to recognise it after the first play. flipping over savage skulls add their remix treatment to the track. these talented swedish boys who already have a dubsided original release under their belt and a killer recent remix for major lazer, give >well now< their bass and bumps whilst putting a kaleidoscope of funk back into electro.

fourth release from do easy records comes up with an outstanding deep and groovy anthem delivered by no one less than producing genius daso from cologne. >im over u< catches listeners and dancers immediately with its remarkable piano hookline and a perfect timed groove. the funky vocals push this track to a real house bomb and will set each club and outdoor floor on fire ! again, daso at its best ! on the flip you find a percussive remix by romanian sound wizard ali nasser. ali well know for his very own house style gives the original a more oldschool and rough touch that is pushed by nice funky bass. for sure one of his exceptional remixes. we love it and we hope you too !

if there s one lesson we have learned from 2008, it s that techno is not nearly creepy enough. on creep ep, germany s kevin over injects pitch-black dread into the heart of his distinct brand of techno. steamrolling bass-lines, droplets of toxic rain, and ghostly sirens all coalesce into swinging, propulsive grooves that stretch into a never-ending night. mr. over demonstrates his knack for creating arrangements that are both melodious and spacious, crafting an almost seven minutes ride through some of the most banging and infectious techno tracks to date, not to mention some dubby business on surge that would leave lee perry envious. at its most compelling, creep ep paints a picture of a raging warehouse party at the edge of your wildest dreams. including killer remixes by pascal vert and john lagora

the new deetron single, with part 1 featuring marcel dettmann on remix duties, >lets get over it< is a gloriously soulful techno masterpiece. deetrons early detroit and chicago influences are evident in the music. tough and groovy with some warped synth action, that weaves its way around the lush, warm vocals of justin. not only do you have the great original, but music man have produced an embarrassment of riches for you, with three huge remixes. first up is berghain resident marcel dettmann. known for his outstanding and original productions on osgut ton and his own label mdr. he produces something fresh yet surprisingly old skool in sound. this mix has already been licensed by dettmann for his latest compilation

played by sebo k, karotte... layo and bushwacka! are equally at home turning out summery housey affairs as they are peak time stormers, and >now is the time / the time was then definitely fits into the latter category. a double header, the loose concept behind the release is to represent the sound of the dancefloor now versus the sound from a few years ago. >now is the time< has its feet placed firmly in 2008 - a crisp, clean techno bassline, topped by hand claps, snatches of breathy female vocal, and full of an irresistible array rattles, whooshes and other indefinable sounds that the duo seem to pull from the depths of their imaginations. it breaks with some simple electronic sounding chords and a stirring martin luther king sample that makes this record so memorable. >the time was then< is based around that same sample, but gives a cheeky nod to a few years back, with a bassline and keys that wouldnt have sounded out of place on their seminal ‘night works’ album. it never goes too far towards nostalgia, though, and either would rip up a late night dancefloor
