that summer i developed somewhat of an obsession with tonto’s expanding head band after having seen them perform at the big chill festival that year. the music blew my mind. later upon my return to civilisation and the ensuing research which then began in earnest i became as much blown away by the enormous t.o.n.t.o. (the original new timbral orchestra) modular synthesizer that had created the music as i was by the music itself. built in the early 70s, it s still the largest synthesizer around today. with the live show still resonating in my head i tracked down everything tonto had ever recorded. one of these tracks was an obscure outtake from the time t.o.n.t.o.’s creators, malcolm cecil and robert margouleff, were producing and engineering for stevie wonder in the ‘70s(https://youtu.be/wuaszff7yq0). the track, bittersweet, only ever appeared on a highly limited self-released cd put together to coincide with their appearance at the big chill. consequently i featured it on a few mixes i did over the years and invariably i’d be asked “what’s that track?” by those with an ear for something unique. and invariably these same people, many of them djs, would turn away disgruntled when i informed them it was cd only. although i didn t know it at the time, the seed was definitely sown for this vinyl compilation that you now hold in your hands.

having recently relocated to the remote redwood forests of northern california in order to set up a satellite mixing studio for his old stomping ground, glasgows green door studio, sordid sound system returns to invisible inc with 4 cuts of psychedelic dungeon disco. the ep opens with his most blissed out track to date die ewige nacht, an eight and a half minute inverted sun ritual based around shimmering cascades of dubbed up electronic percussion and an overdriven tintinnabulated fm arp. hi-nrg meets 80s b-boy electro on crescent city with a careering off-road excursion into tripped out mutant carnival cavalcade territory. dia de muertos offbeat eerie percussion and driving low frequencies are met with spectral buzzing melodic refrains from the furthermost reaches of a decaying oaxacan cemetery. the acid drenched ambient lullaby you & me brings proceedings to a fittingly fucked up close. sordid sound syste’s last release on invisible inc, 2017s fear eats the soul, received plays and praise from the likes of manfredas, trevor jackson, sascha funke, optimos jd twitch and thomas von party.

finally the long-awaited second series of invisible family outings has arrived.label boss and compiler gk machine has this to say beyond ecstatic to get these tracks out. the gazeebo track i ve been playing in my sets for years. digital only but so great it definitely needed to get pressed onto wax! i would dj with it using ableton and speed it up a lot so for the vinyl i asked jon (nedza) who ive been a huge fan of since his community recordings releases on grayhound and imperial dub, whether he could speed it up a little bit before we pressed it up. now its 100% perfect: a moroder-esque cosmic stomper thats sure to set any dancefloor alight. the apiento track is another one that s been gestating for a long time first appearing around the time the original e.s.p. 12inch appeared on the wonderful golf channel recordings in 2014. secret circuit gave it a complete overhaul, in fact several complete overhauls, plus some of his signature guitar and has turned the already blissful track into an afro-esque, trippy, beautiful, beautiful piece of music that (imo) is one of his best yet. utterly gorgeous! then there s the boy-girl retro-future duo der kundalini coming from the wonderful lectric sands stable in ny who gave us zoovox. this one s also been hiding on my hard drive way too long! finally relative newcomers konzel (of junto club/optimo music fame) & natural sugars (pardon my french) round off the package just perfectly. the former so distinct that i felt it was a perfect opener for the a side. so, i hope you dig it and keep an eye out for the super limited 12-track cassette too! limited to 300 hand-numbered copies.

making a debut appearance on our own invisible ep 6 compilation last year we re very happy to at last feature a full 4-track ep from the mysterious immaculate rivombo. again the music is filled with that signature sound of live african percussion and 303s but this time with additional thumb pianos, hypnotic vocals and spacey synth lines. purporting to be from burundi (for all we know this could be the product of an elaborate ruse emanating from berlin tbh) the enigmatic producer (he? she? they?) has once again excelled and produced an ep that manages somehow to sound uplifting and spiritual at the same time as it is deep, dark and dubby. whatever, the music s great and that s what matters. definitely one to watch out for. another great ep from invisible inc. trippy, far out sounds. my pick is b1.killer party tool!! invisible starlight is a ripping tune by an unknown midwestern funk outfit with a driving backbeat and soaring horns. it sounds like ohio to us, but we can t be certain. however, we are sure that this band must have rocked local bowling alleys and lounges wherever they went. universal cave is proud to present our edit to our fellow 45 loving movers and groovers. on the flip, the beat broker rounds out the original with his signature style and an impeccable ear. the kind dub s sun drenched delay and reinforced drums ensure that invisible starlight will shine on any dancefloor.

six face-melting tracks that range from woozy dark soundscapes to experimental acid and eerie drum sequences on the first release of brand new label x/oz. a label as an extension of the artist exos in his role as both a producer and curator. the six track ep includes tracks from some of his closest collaborators through the years, among others a song by his father, octal, who has been collaborating in music with exos since late 90s. octal industries ,aka ruxpin, a lifetime collaborator, family friend and an original member of thule records also contribute to the release. last but not least, the mystikal soschla, a russian upcoming artist who made some waves already and will be a part of some upcoming releases on x/oz. the unique, rugged environment of iceland is a fundamental element and platform for exos in his creation and selection and sets the atmosphere for the sound of his new x/oz imprint. limited supplies!

tangerine dream hatten seit ihrer gründung ende der 1960er in westberlin einen massgeblichen einfluss auf die entwicklung der elektronischen musik und galten als einer der führenden vertreter des krautrock. in den 1980ern lieferten sie beachtliche soundtracks zu filmen wie “firestarter”, “risky business”, “near dark”, “thief” und “sorcerer” ab, ihr musikalischer einfluss auf den soundtrack der netflix-kultserie “stranger things” ist enorm. ihr neues doppelalbum “particles” ist eine mischung aus brandneuem material und reinterpretationen, darunter des titelstücks ihres albumklassikers “rubycon” (1975), liveaufnahmen u.a. des titeltracks des “white eagle” albums (1982), sowie eine eigene coverversion des “stranger things” theme.

with comparisons being made to psykick warriors of gaia, cyclobe and insanlars kime ne this ones definitely making waves amongst fans of.....well....whatever sort of music this is. komodo kolektif is a loose collective of veteran multi-instrumentalists based not in indonesia as one might expect with such a name, but glasgow, scotland, their name being a reference to the indonesian gamelan instruments featured in their compositions. the instruments used (saron, gender, kempul) belong to local gamelan ensemble gamelan naga mas of which two of the musicians have been full-time members for around a decade while the other members are also loosely affiliated and have appeared as guest musicians on various one-off performances and who are themselves well-known musicians in their own rights.

known more for their dubby kosmische and psychedelic post-disko, glasgow label invisible inc seem to be wandering closer to the realms of the nightclub dancefloor these days. not that anyone s complaining. with recent outings by strange culture and sordid sound system taking the lead, this one by budapest s bal5000 is quite possibly their most dancefloor friendly release yet. all four cuts inhabit a space somewhere at the very edge of house but are steeped in soaringly cosmic italo-esque synth lines and bubbling, motorik arpeggios reminiscent of early 80s minimal.....the result is a real sonic treat: hypnotically transcendant, yet beautifully melodic, and all solidly underpinned by some seriously low-end sub-bass, tight rhythms and pistol-sharp snares.

i-lp-o in dub is the solo project of pan sonic member ilpo väisänen. capital dub chapter 1 follows the 2015 debut communist dub - a year marked by further descent into economic crisis and instability. the usual business cycles of production / distribution / consumption running alongside macro cycles of boom and bust have been replaced by ossification, austerity, the machine seizing up.
ilpo’s “circular riddims” complement the ebb and flow of the circulation of money + commodities and are mirrored by his field recordings of barcelona rain – the final phase of the cyclical movement of water. but of course the smooth running of “paradise capital” is unsustainable. destroyed techno and open spaces contend with sinister swarming atmospheres. a cash machine flickers. zeros and ones displace another factory. dub as decay – the ghostly remains of tracks eroded by time and technology. the “invisible hand” of the market spasms with tremors.
ferocious textural feedback as music for stock exchange crashes. the soundtrack to heaps of money hoarded by the hidden class. capital is value in motion, but there is nowhere to go. after the collapse, picturesque ruins. capital dub chapter 1 simply asks the question: what next?

‘fear eats the soul’ is the third release from sordid sound system on invisible inc. his previous two records ‘in a year of 13 moons’ and ‘lux exterior’ have been getting plays from the likes of andrew weatherall, manfredas, john talabot, idjut boys and thomas von party. describing ‘fear eats the soul’ as a concept ep made by four imaginary bands from detroit, new york, paris and munich, sordid sound system says: “i’m pissed off with passive aggressive shabby chic artisan boutiques besieging my studio and complaining about the noise, i’m pissed off with coked up yuppy hipsters in land rovers taking over my neighbourhood with fancy restaurants with names that sound like fucking law firms, i’m pissed off at the resurgence of the far right and creeping fascism, i’m pissed off with self sabotaging english and american voters and the neo liberal corporate elites that have pissed away opportunities and alienated them, i’m pissed off with modern recording technology creating a sea of homogenous unimaginative beige bullshit, and i’m really pissed off that my favourite drummer jaki leibezeit is dead, but apart from that it’s all good, enjoy the new record.”

we re extremely pleased here at invisble inc hq to be releasing this amazing new album by veteran multi-instrumentalist and ethno-musicologist jon keliehor. originally from seattle and musically active since the 1960s jon started out playing drums and percussion in bands like the daily flash and bodine all the while becoming known as a venerable session and touring musician in his own right. not many people can claim to have played alongside jim morrison and james brown....but jon certainly has.

invisible, inc now brings the aptly named spacerocks into the fold with the release of a 6- track ep that comes storming in from the outer reaches of a galaxy light years away (or just decades past?) into the earpiece of your unwashed spacesuit. it s hard to pinpoint what genre this actually fits into but if you imagine vapourspace s gravitational arch of 10 as interpreted by vangelis with drum programming by nitzer ebb you d be getting reasonably close. other influences may well include cluster, conrad schnitzler, chris & cosey to name a few, while comparisons can be made to contemporaries like solyst, musiccargo, barnt and secret circuit. spacerocks is a solo offshoot project from higamos hogamos main man steve webster (also fort lauderdale, the black neon, memphis industries, dc recordings). the project sees steve ditch his band and strip things down to his modular, vintage and custom-built synthesizer set up alongside equally rare and vintage analogue drum machines, sequencers and fx units.

animals on psychedelics is a new label out of cleethorpes, run by dj/promoter carl_h. through a combination of name, artwork and musical output, animals on psychedelics focuses on the more tripped out, spacey side of electronic music. the labels debut release is a three-track ep from london duo invisible menders, otherwise known as dom ahtuam & jane fitz, who have also released on porn wax and boe recordings.

following an erotic adventure in the jungle on his own moonlighting imprint, Øyvind morken returns to full pupp, with invisible objects.

bt09 - invisible darning brings together 4 unique acts, covering a wide spectrum of techno and electro. crystal maze s crossroad blues kicks off the ep with slow mo tripped out techno. dez williams hand on mouth follows up with spaced out, stargazing electro. on the flip we have switzerland’s echo 106 - 100m splutter bringing stuttering arpeggiated synths for an epic showdown. closing the ep albert van abbe resurrects his dormant the pulse projects for the brutalist crunching grounds. very limited copies. vinyl comes hand stamped complete with individual screen printed artwork unique to each copy.

the art of omission is a craft new jersey native joey anderson masters like few others. after releasing his acclaimed debut album after forever in 2014 and the 1974 ep earlier this year, anderson returns to the dekmantel label serving up the signature sound we love him for. invisible switch is the perfect example of what anderson can do with very little, catapulting him to one of the finest and most original techno and house producers to date.
