tetine are brazilian artists/musicians bruno verner and eliete mejorado and are stars of sao paulos avant garde music scene - uniting electronic music with brazilian dark sambas, performance art, spoken word, super 8 movies and whatever came into their heads. their musical influences range from bands such as throbbing gristle, peaches, tuxedomoon to kraftwerk, can, but it also incorporates heavily the more experimental side of brazilian musicians such as paulinho da viola, os mutantes, chico buarque or the tropicalists and rio baile funk artists. since 2002 they have lived and worked in london. three years ago they brought baile funk to the uk with their slum dunk radio show and subsequently with slum dunk presents funk carioca album. in 2005 they compiled the sexual life of the savages for soul jazz records - an album of obscure early 80s underground post punk from são paulo. in 2006 tetine played at the opening night of tropicalia - a revolution in brazilian culture - at barbican centre alongside brazilian multi-artist assume vivid astrofocus.

the cl interpretations, based on the sixth melted recordings release cl versions of echtzeit, were firstly divided into two sucessful releases: part 1 and 2. now that more artists of circle of friends of melted have done their own interpretations, a third part was released. this time all tracks were based on the same track three, but now with a wide-spread spectrum of techno – from melodic, deep and dubtech to harder, diffused and current state of the art techno. monomood, known from the melted recordings friended label etui records, starts with his constructive warm and melodic rebuild called 3cl of echo. also aerror is here into deep dubtechno, much different as his last version of part 1. sector varied his track for part 1 into a more deep dub but kicking techno track terminals rmx. bassart, an austrian techno and electro dj, comes a with highly diffused hard techno interpretation – his first vinyl appearance. it is the first techno track (called cotta re-dub) of bons on vinyl, too. he is in the circle of friends and supporter of melted for many years, since the start in 1999.

after three albums for as many labels, dean blunt and inga copeland, also of the group hype williams, release their debut hyperdub lp, >black is beautiful<. amid rumours circulating, and confirmed by their advisor denna frances, the album was recorded during a tremulous period for the two: inga copelands arsenal girls tryouts, deans waschbärgate trial (he was implicated in being behind a one night robbing spree across 16 taxidermists based in london and the south east, allegedly only for racoons) and his subsequent conversion to nation of islam upon being acquitted. >black is beautiful< is laced with their signature hazy glow and is full of crunched eurovision lullabies, kinetic drum machine jams, unsettling funk, smeared walls of synth, moments of unadulterated opiated bliss, mogadon rap, infinite coughs and insights into the odd sexual behaviour of crackers. the word ebony occupies the albums entire front cover space in bold white print. >black is beautiful< is red and white.

lando kal (a.k.a. antaeus roy), one half of bay area electro duo lazer sword, follows up maneuver, his 2011 debut for hotflush, with two cuts overflowing with the darkness of a long berlin winter. a major player in both san francisco and new yorks underground club scenes, landos love of r&b, dark jungle, detroit techno and classic house is front and center on these two bass heavy productions. the infectious rythym sektion comes on strong, lando expertly weaving the vocals of the 1991 rave classic hinted at in the title with threatening drums and kinetic percussion. on the flip, landos dynamism is on display, as inquisitions syncopated beats swagger along, insistent and knocking, drawing you into its multi-layered paranoid rhythms. lando kal has released on respected labels numbers, rush hour, sugarcane recordings, still cold, and has remixed the likes of sepalcure, hovatron, salva, sepalcure and doc daneeka. up ahead, lookout for a single dropping on leisure system, the notorious berghain party collective and label.

where the river turns black, is the first international album by copenhagenresident and musician katrine ottosen aka call me kat. call me kat are adorably intense and mesmerizing songs, an enchanting melancholic, almost translucent drift into this sonic world best described as alternative pop, music that gives spoken word of the ever expanding danish music scene of now. songs that adapt a fine line between organic instrumentation and that very specific sound of her voice, which although completely its own tends to remind at times on other playful ladies in music like bjørk, feist oder lykke li.earlier works with reknown producers valgeir sigurdsson (bjørk, mum, sigur rós etc.) or joe magistro (prophet omega) on the current album have certainly had their share on this.
